Seoul's Institute is actually located on a floating island! It is still unreachable for mundanes, but in order not to confuse them in their busy lives, the first Korean shadowhunters decided to build the Institute out of the outskirts of the city and into the water. It focuses a lot on Arts and beauty.

Silently, Tenno walked down the long, empty halls of the Institute. For the first time in his life, he was all along. There weren't any other ShadowHunters around, but he didn't care. He hated being around other people and wanted to be alone in the first place. That was one of thee reasons on way he had moved away from his home. He was a bit irritated about his old classmates and hated all the questions that they pour onto him. They would talk about him like he wasn't even there and it had annoyed him greatly. Tenno never asked for this life but he had no choice but to live every single day and he dreaded it.

Background: Alice grow up not knowing who her father was. Her mother had told her countless stories about him and showed her pictures. She was fascinated of him and wanted to meet him in person but her mother refused, telling Alice lies on why she couldn't meet him. Her mother had told her that she was born as a ShadowHunter and had to leave her home, in which she did. Alice moved away and to the Tokyo Institution so she can be as far away as possible from her close friends and family.
