Yeah, second powers can be hard to deal with. It took five years for me to master time control.
Otherwise, light can be a great power but, not everyone has the friendly light, it can also be the destructive one. Dofferent people, different qualities.

@Kevin *chuckley and nods* we have a section about light and light related studies. It depends on what you want to see. Otherwise, there are older so called scrolls around, but you'd need a written permission from your tutor to acces that.
