Bar

Sit down and enjoy a good drink.

@Hyuna The comment made the blush on Moonbyul's face just got intensified, why she just had to make a fool out of herself in front of such beautiful lady? In academic and in working place she could be classified as a genius but seemed like now that title means nothing and take the turn to show the idiot Moonbyul underneath. At the mention of tip, Byul seemed just noticed that the woman in front of her is indeed working in here and of course her being served by the later require some sort of payment, even though the drink is free (well of course since she just had cold water nothing more.) "A-ah yeah...of course." Byul chuckled "I will give extra if you can help me on Saturday." She didn' know why she asked Hyuna's assistance since this case supposedly confidential. "Seems like you've known him quite well, is he acquaintance of yours?" Her eyebrow rose up slightly after she picked up the slight different tone when Hyuna talked about the regular bartender.

The suggestion was very alluring and tempting but she's here for business not trying to get loose like this, but after a little contemplating the idea, Byul thought it wasn't a bad idea well she could have a little fin while working right?"Hmm yeah I might just do that." Her smile gets wider "Ah really? But yeah beautiful woman, serving drinks somewhat have its own charm, I'm jealous of all those customers who got to see you first and maybe have a little chat with you before I came." Okay, that was subtle flirting; the officer just hope she wont chase this woman away because of her greasiness. "I'm not sure, but since I've put some people behind the bars, I think I do have few if not more enemies chasing me." Byul chuckled "But if it will make you feel fair, since I know your name I shall tell you. It's Byulyi. You can call me Byul, or Moonbyul."

@Moonbyul “. . . Are you usually this thirsty?” Hyuna commented blandly, quirking a brow at the half empty glass then at the detective. Seriously, this woman made it seem like she had been wandering through the desert for a good portion of the day. “Too bad it isn’t alcohol. I could’ve charged you.” With a wry smile, Hyuna refilled the contents of the glass. “I still expect a tip, you know.” She was partially joking but a few extra bucks were always appreciated. As she watched Jiyeop the bartender stuff a miniature wad of cash into his back pocket, Hyuna silently wondered if she was in the wrong profession. “Mm-hm. Saturday,” she echoed, turning back to her current company. “You’ll want to ask for Jinyoung, but he’s hard to miss. Older gentleman. Strong jawline, small eyes.” After a tiny pause, she also added, “Kind of sleazy-looking now that I think about it.” He was also a good contact of hers, one of the few who hadn’t abandoned her after the big disaster that brought an end to her career. Park Jinyoung was the reason why she was working tonight’s shift. Needless to say, she owed him a lot.

The rushed question followed by the not-so-subtle cough from the other woman ended Hyuna’s reminiscing prematurely. The faint smile playing on her lips however, suggested that she didn’t particularly mind. “That, I can’t tell you.” Hyuna kept her gaze trained on the detective’s as the latter drew a bit closer. “So I suggest you make the most of our time here now.” Her companion was certainly feeling a bit bolder; a sure sign that she was getting more comfortable—hopefully enough to share the details of her work. “I’m not really one for flattery. I think that’s why they have me delivering the drinks and not making them,” she remarked with an airy wave. “And all flirting is harmless in my eyes, detective, regardless of whom is playing. Unless you’re notoriously /bad/ at it, then that's up for debate.” Hyuna returned the blonde’s mischievous smile with a gracious one of her own, glad that her forwardness wasn’t met with unease. “Hm, do you have a lot of enemies? If so, I assure you that your name is for personal use only.”

@Hyuna Byul said a small thank you as the woman refilled her glass and wasting no time to gulp half of it again as the cold water did really help her to think more straight than the state she was in when she stepped into this bar which reeked smell of alcohol and smoke though the teasing from the woman in front of her made Byul's face redden slightly as it was a bit embarrassing habit of her, well luckily she didn't mention about that big teddy bear plush she chose as her snuggle partner. Her eyebrow rose up however at the sudden info as her eyes following the head movement of Hyuna toward the bartender. "Ahh I see... Saturday eh?" Her mind quickly go through her personal schedule and finding no event she has to attend Byul nodded "I might try that then, thank you. Though would you be here?" The last one was coming a bit abruptly and it shown by the sudden redness on the officer's face, she coughed to masked her embarrassment.

Another laughter escaped Byul at Hyuna's teasing words but being a self, Byul leaned in resting her chin on top of her palm as she propped her elbow on the counter "Ah really? Thank you for your flattery Ms. Moon Hyuna." She smiled, one of her most charming smile she has. "So you're not minding to flirt with same eh? That's a relief because I certainly don't want to make a fool of myself when I flirt with you when you certainly not interested in." Byul chuckled "But If I give you my name, is there any guarantee for you not to spread my name to bad guys who might want to get their revenge on me?" a playful smirk appear on her face.

@Moonbyul Hyuna was taken slightly aback as the young detective laughed. The way her nose crinkled and how her lips pulled back to reveal her teeth were somewhat amusing. She certainly wasn’t like anyone on the force that Hyuna remembered. The woman seemed easy-going, borderline unprofessional almost, but no doubt that was a part of her charm. As the former drained half the contents of her glass, Hyuna refilled it with a small shake of her head. “Even detectives like to snuggle, hm?” She poured some water for herself and drank it delicately despite the dryness of ; Hyuna still had appearances to keep and chugging water did a very poor job of doing that. “Sadly, I don’t think you’ll have much luck if he’s who you’re here for.” She jerked her head in the bartender’s direction. “Jiyeop’s a newbie. Hired just a month ago. Not sure what you’re after, but you’d want to try Saturday. The regular bartender will be working then and his shift is during happy hour.”

That much was true. She had no reason to lie thus far. Hyuna took another sip of her drink, watching the detective over the rim of her glass. Perhaps she had given the sandy-haired woman far little credit. The latter did not start blabbing about her work as Hyuna had anticipated, indicating that she had some sense to her despite her relaxed disposition. “Not at all. The dim lighting is quite flattering,” she replied with a quirk of her lips. “And I sure hope not. That would make flirting with you a bit awkward.” Placing the glass down, she rested her palms against the counter. “In all seriousness, what should I call you, detective? If I had a name, maybe I can get you the information you need.”

@Hyuna Her laughter echoing in the almost empty bar safe from few people who were either too drunk to go home or those who stil got some fortune to spend on the alcohol. Byul knew it very well hat bar was no place to do as what she wanted to but she had no other choice since this place located very near to the last crime scene. "Yeah I know, but just like what you said; I have some business with the bartender that's why I come here. If not I would be at home snuggling to my pillow." Byulyi chuckled softly before leaning back trying to a least make herself comfortable and maybe relaxed a bit before thanking the woman for the drink she put in front of her to which almost immediately Byul take and gulp almost half of the content and yes it did do good job to make her mind clearer.

The question from the other woman however make her a bit alert, of course its normal for a server in place like this to ask about their customer day but this one made her somewhat uneasy, call it her police instinct but that instinct also what always helped her in a pinch. As much as she didn't want to jump in any conclusion Byul couldn't help but to quirk a brow at the female behind the counter "Well both." She answered slowly, tasting the surface "My look is pretty ugly right now, eh Ms..." her eyes shifted to the name tag on the woman's uniform and an amused smile appear on her face "Hey we have same surname. Are you secretly my long distance family?" Byul chuckled, and a little glad hat she found something to divert this woman attention off from the case.

@Moonbyul Not entirely certain if the woman was tired or just a tad slow, Hyuna merely smiled politely while the former stared. She followed the supposed detective’s line of sight and gradually realized where it was travelling. Hyuna had been on the receiving end of attention like that all night so it wasn’t particularly shocking—other than the fact that it came from another female. She didn’t mind, but that wasn’t what she was interested in pursuing. Not tonight. “It’s no problem,” Hyuna replied, noting the sheepishness behind her patron’s gesture. At least she had the modesty to act shy. Others just acted like ogling was normal. “Well, if you’re looking for something weaker then quite frankly. . . neither.” She set the shot glass back down with a gentle clink. With that sentence alone, the woman had effectively destroyed the hard-boiled sleuth image Hyuna had devised for her. Nevertheless, it was amusing; borderline endearing in fact. “Being in a bar is a poor means of staying awake and sober,” she quipped. “Perhaps you would have been better off in a café?” Hyuna took up a larger glass and began busying herself with cleaning it. “It’s better for business if I tell you otherwise, but you look like you have important matters to deal with so I’ll spare you.”

As if on cue, the woman trailed off, looking even more disoriented than before. Hyuna decided to brush off the former’s question in favor of filling her glass of water; tossing in the lime for good measure. “Here.” She placed the drink down slowly, taking the opportunity to catch a glimpse of the documents. They were definitely police reports; she had seen enough of them to know. From what she could tell, they were also giving the young officer quite a headache. “You seem to be having a lot of trouble,” she commented, chuckling at the other’s frazzled hair. “Tough case or just a rough day?” Hyuna was aware that she was potentially venturing into dangerous waters, but curiosity had gotten the best of her. After posing—no, living—as a janitor for so long, she itched for something new, something exciting. She wanted to take her chances; /had/ to take them or risk going insane. Besides, her opponent didn’t pose much of a threat; not in this state.

@Hyuna Byul who had her head down looking at the paper immediately shot up in surprise as the soft almost sultry voice made its way to her ears making her puzzled as she was sure the bartender was a guy until at least few second ago. She quirked her eyebrow at the se-- beautiful woman in front of her well looking at her uniform it is safe to say that this woman is a worker here too but was Byul that exhausted until she couldn't notice the shift in position in front of her? Realizing she's been rude for not answering the woman's question and instead just staring at her (Well she couldn't help herself, not if the woman in front of her was indeed a very y one and its even more alluring with that little drop of sweat trailed on her neck. Oh no, Byul didn't just stare at that drop of sweat going south and ended up disappearing between-- okay Moon Byul Yi, get yourself together.) Byul coughed to clear her mind, she definitely need a lot of sleep after this, maybe she should take few days off from the office, surely the chief wouldn't mind right? She didn't want to be caught in trouble.

"Ah yes, sorry for my rude action." Byul smiled shyly while rubbing her neck, a habit she already tried so hard to kill but to no avail as this one particular habit kept coming back to her. "I'm not usually drink though but maybe I'll take your offer, which one of hem is less strong? I need to stay awake and sober before I come back home." She laughed trying to ease the awkwardness in the air before looking around "Where's the bartender? I was about asking him something important..." A frown appear on her face which she immediately regret as a wave of dizziness and headache coming in full force. "Dang... Maybe no alcohol for tonight... Can i have a glass of water first and maybe a lime juice? I need to clear my mind right now." Her eyes went back to the papers she had taken out from her backpack. Her thumb and forefinger stroking her chin as she searching the red threads between all the info the police had acquired before but still it was too wide for her to pinpoint what went wrong as Byul ruffled her own hair in frustration.

@Moonbyul She couldn’t remember the last time money was this tight. At some point in her life, Hyuna had enough to fill several bathtubs. Now she had to take up extra jobs if she wanted to eat out more than once a week and still pay her rent on time. Thankfully her connections hadn’t dried up along with her fortunes and she was able to score a shift at her friend’s bar tonight. It wasn’t anything glamorous but at least she was out of that atrocious navy blue jumpsuit the university made her wear. She’d gladly take the black and white frocks of the waitress uniform any day, even if it was unnecessarily. . . form fitting. It’s the nicest she’s looked in a while so Hyuna couldn’t complain.

The work was oddly similar. She still had to avoid running into drunks, pick up dirty glasses, mop up vomit; it felt like the aftermath of a college party except for the fact that she got tips. The bartender had offered her a free drink or two as well, but Hyuna politely refused. Drinking in a place reeking of sweat and alcohol didn’t appeal to her in the slightest. She wouldn’t say no to a nice glass of ice water however. Hyuna had been running around in heels, lugging bins of glasses back and forth for hours. By the time her replacement arrived, she was thoroughly relieved. Immediately she made her way towards the bar and dropped into the vacant seat at the end.

Ironically, there was someone who seemed even more winded than she was. The sandy-haired woman definitely looked like she had seen better days; her eyes were eerily familiar— adorned by dark circles, fatigued and slightly delirious. Hyuna’s gaze travelled to the backpack hanging from her shoulders. While she did appear young, the latter didn’t give off the vibe of a student. No, she was here for business, not pleasure. Her following inquiry confirmed as much. Hyuna picked up on a few key words, namely ‘thief’, ‘heist’, and ‘case.’

Intrigued, she stood and moved behind the counter, waving the bartender away before he could pour the woman a drink or answer her question properly. “I couldn’t help but overhear. You’re working on a case?” She asked, donning one of her usual smiles before taking up one of the shot glasses. “Tequila’s not a very good choice for work if you ask me. How about whiskey? Bourbon? It suits a detective more, don’t you think?”
