they just have to follow the plot they are given, if they're a sad character, they cannot certainly go around spreading happiness and peace. depends, if it is set as the creator's choice, they have two options, either they talk to the creator and ask if they don't mind they changed a few things or follow the plot; if the creator didn't say any specification for things such as job or occupation, it's up to the person who joins. the minute they come to live, they will still be whatever their creators designed them as.
the creator can either stay with them at home or say in their background wherever they live, if there's no information, that is up to the person who joins
most dolls do know they are dolls, if the creator wishes they don't know about that, that shall be said, but mostly they do know they are dolls. yes they do, because when they are brought to life, the creator shall be by their side to help them with their values.

So, a friend of mine wants to join and claim my newest doll profile, but we've been wondering about quite some things concerning the creations/dolls.
First of all, once they come to life, all that becomes reality is them, right? Because I have set everything regarding the doll's background, but whatever s/he does in the real world is up to them, isn't it? Everything, including the job they would have in the alternate universe their Creator thought for them to have, is gone the minute they come to life, right? Which would basically mean they have no home, no family, no friends, no house, nothing at the very beginning, right?
Secondly, is it commonly known that these Dolls exist? Are there people to grant them shelter for as long as they are still struggling to fit in?
And last but not least, do dolls know they're dolls? Do they immediately know who created them and that they're basically fiction?

as a creator:
you're free to write what you want and makes sense with your own plot.
for example if your own character see's ghosts, one of your dolls can be an angel. simple as that
and for genders you have 3 options:
either you make it a female
a male
or leave it free for who's interested in your plot to make their own gender (for example if the person whom comes wants to be in the rp faceclaiming Tiffany, she can for instances grab your unknown gender plot and make it a female. ) simple as that
and ofc make a persona up for it, a background and all of that good stuff.
and the faceclaim thing that the admin kasper is explaining basically means that you may have someone in mind for the doll you wrote for but the face claim might still choose another plot (pleas try to avoid to write the name of your chara's favorite faceclaim up in the plot, since it's just asking for it to be butchered, I know that for sure.)

if you come as a doll:

you come as a doll and I'm sorry to say, but it ain't all roses and it's sure not fun to have a plot butchered by someone whom picks it. (sorry to sound sour, but I write scenarios and it's a major pet peeves, just no.)

PLEASE RESPECT THE PLOT AND TALK TO THE WRITER OF THE PLOT
even if once, talk to the person, it will be nice of you. don't forget it's their intellectual propriety you're taking.
AND PLEASE IF THE CHARACTER AS A GENDER ALREADY, DON'T CHANGE IT.
really, it might be a girl or a boy already FOR A REASON. (for example, Chaerin is Schizophrenic and has a imaginary sister and if you came by and made it a brother, you would basically doom CL's all existence.)
also try to respect the doll's persona given by the creator.
if you do all of this you will be a blessed child from heaven and I will love you lots.
We are hoping that we will have lots of creators, so please, if you aren't sure if you should choose the plot because it's not really you're style, then DON'T TAKE IT.
