@[V] Min Hyunsu If I could roll my eyes at Hyunsu right then I think they would've rolled to the back of my head in utter annoyance at his little comment. Of course he was going to bring that up. I could count with my fingers the amount of times I'd interacted with Hyunsu yet the vampire still managed to get under my skin like we had some deep-rooted quarrel between us, I couldn't understand why. "Unlike you, I can savour a glass of wine just the same and I like it, at least I am able to taste different flavours." I shot back, trying my best not to sound snappy as appearances needed to be made, so my smile was still politely strained.
I finally took a long sip of the wine then, letting out a sigh at the taste, finally something to keep my mouth busy, besides using to retort to Hyunsu, something that didn't seem like it was ending anytime soon. "Can't blame them, I'd talk a lot if I couldn't touch either," I teased, not really affected since the treatment the vampire mentioned had been a regular my whole life, plus, a lot of the looks weren't only filled with distaste, I knew they were curious about me in very different ways. The next comment though, did crack my facade a little, brows twitching in anger for a second as my fingers tightened around my glass. "What about you? Do you have fun cavorting around playing pompous vampire with these stuck ups? If you ask me, I think they must not be so interesting if you came to me. Tell me, are you curious too Hyunsu?" My lips stretch into a smirk.
@[Dh] Kim Jongin I let out a small chuckle at the other’s words. Good one. Even though I wasn’t a fan of Jongin, he was always good with words and knew exactly how to get under someone’s skin; I give him kudos for that. “Choosing a full glass of wine over blood. I’m not surprised but I’m still disappointed. You should feed more often, the only thing you’re doing is neglecting your body. You’re not being a hero or saving anyone when holding back.” I understood that some vampires try not to feast as much since they feel bad but we’re already vampires, we're going to hell anyway. Might as well have good food and enjoy ourselves.
I finished off the last bit of liquid from my cup and contemplated getting some more but I decided to wait, I didn't want to go overboard. “I’ve heard bits and pieces from others,” I started. “Someone’s always talking about you. Or whispering as you walk by.” It’s true, Jongin or his father’s name were always in someone’s mouth. For good or bad things I don't know and I don’t care since it isn’t directly affecting me anymore. I know my father used to work with Jongin’s father a long time ago but I have no idea about these past recent years. I don’t know what they did together but it doesn’t matter anymore since I haven’t seen either for so long. “Tell me more. Have you been making friends with your food? Making deals with humans?”
@[V] Min Hyunsu It was another one of those events I dreaded to attend. Truth be told, in my adult life this was usually the most I ever interacted with my own kind, and the sentiment of distate in the room seemed to be mutual. Wherever I went, looks of lust mingled with envy and distate followed me, along with hushed whispers of boring insults like 'rotten blood' and 'bastard bred.' But they knew better than to say it straight to my face. I had long since set my place in the night world, otherwise these vampires would've eaten me alive by now.
Some would actually come up to me and strike up some dready acquaintance chat, for the sake of relations they held with my father. My career had enabled me with the necessary skills to endure these parties though. Just give them a million dollar smile and skim through like you're loving it and tune out the rest. I was pretty good at tuning most of it out, except for one thing. The scents in the air that weaved together like the threads of a tapestry. Blood. I could smell it in every glass and it was the one thing making my teeth ache with disconfort. I rarely fed, sticking to my human diet and it took a toll on my body sometimes. But I'd be staked before I willingly fed with these people. I needed to keep my mouth busy though.
I headed towards the punch table and went straight for the red wine. I poured a full glass, uncaring for modesty and swirled the liquid a little, holding it up to inhale. Fermented crimson grapes with the finest notes of vanilla. I was about to take an eager sip when I heard a comment, making me stop mid movement. Oh, so that's how it was going to be. Turning my head it was easy to spot Min Hyunsu, I recognized him as one of the snobs of regularly attended these. My lips twitched in amusement. "I didn't know they invited raging little demons either, rather inclusive I'd say," I responded, letting my eyes trail down his figure "I should attend more often though, I've been busy working in the sunlight, don't know if you've heard." I pushed, finally bringing the glass to my lips to take a much needed sip.
@[Dh] Kim Jongin The chattering sound of people could be heard outside the home and the large party lights could be seen shining through the glass windows. I parked my car on the gravel path and climbed out; It’s been awhile since I’ve gone to such a large social gathering. Entering through the front door, I made my way past the small clusters of vampires to find the host of the party. I of course had to say hello to her first, she had the generosity of inviting me even though we haven’t spoken for quite some time. There are perks of being friends for over 100 years.
Beautiful dresses and elegant tuxedos danced around me as I made my way through the large building only to not find the body I was looking for. Nearby was a punch table that contained two bowls, one of wine for the vampires that acquired the taste and one of human blood for some to sip on. I headed over and picked up a cup, immediately reaching for the blood. I never liked the taste of fermented grapes even before I was turned. I poured a small amount into my cup and swirled it around, eventually gently sipping it. It was sweet and delicate, clearly obtained from a fine source. Peering over the cup, I notice a familiar face approach the table and help themselves to the refreshments. However, it was definitely not the face I was hoping to see.
I swallowed the small amount of liquid left on my tongue and breathed out slowly, “I didn’t know they invited half-bred mutts to a formal vampire party.” I’ve seen Jongin a few times here and there but only through the host. It seems that she invited us both; she must think a vampire and dhampir are in the same class.
Disgusting.
