@Park Jeongsu "Ah," Sojin nodded, indicating her understanding. "I was never taught anything with close range." she said, leaving out the fact that she'd never had a chance since she'd taught herself everything about archery. "I don't have the physical strength for a lot of it anyway" she muttered the last part, as it was more of a last second revelation than anything and took the lantern. Close combat required both speed and physical advantage and while she could probably rely on her speed and smaller stature, if she were to find herself in a pickle, she wouldn't be able to push anyone off of her.
Looking to where the stranger pointed, Sojin nodded. With night falling soon, there wasn't really enough time to go looking for a new spot to camp, so she was glad the bodies wouldn't be buried where they laid. Sparing a glance back to Juniper, to be sure he saw where she was going and wouldn't go into a panic, she followed the man down the slope. On the way, the sound of a rodent in the brush startled her, causing her to jump a bit, but she covered it up by clearing . Wanting to be a little more helpful to the person that had basically save her life, she went around to find the best place for digging. Stopping when she came across a patch of earth that was relatively softer than it's surroundings, she spoke up. "I think here may be a good spot"
@Jang Sojin ((Hopefully I can become better with replies))
Jeongsu nodded lightly still cautious of the girl, but felt she was definitely not like the men they both just fought off. Perhaps chatting with the girl more he could find out more information on why they might have attacked her specifically but as a stranger he didn't want to pry to much. "Well practice does come in handy at times like this." He commented lightly. "I am not that skilled with a bow and arrow, as I'm better with close range."
Jeongsu looked at the girls hand before nodding lightly, "Sure, I wouldn't mind you doing that." He said handing her the lantern. Before looking around for a moment and pointing to the left just a little bit down a hill. "I think over there would be a good spot and not too close to your campsite area if you wish to stay here." He said before stepping in that direction leading the way, still in the path of the light.
@Park Jeongsu (I honestly didn't realize how long it'd been either lmao. It's fine though~ You know me, I don't really mind)
When she'd heard the man chime in about how stuck her arrow was, she had to bite her tongue to make a smart remark. They didn't know one another that well and she didn't want to come off as rude even if she'd meant it humorously. Hearing his offer though, she looked up at him with hopeful eyes, only to avert her gaze bashfully at his compliment. "Thank you. Years of practice, I suppose." she said, tucking a bit of unruly hair behind her ear. She watched curiously as he milled around briefly, looking for whatever it was that he was searching for, only half listening as he continued speaking because she'd become so invested in whatever it was that he was creating and as a result, her only response to his statement of relief was a simple, "Indeed."
Once he fashioned the rather large branch to the shield, formed a small 'o'. A shovel! It was so simple and yet - so, so innovative, she couldn't help but be a touch fascinated. That never would have occurred to her. In her amazement, she'd only caught the tail end of what he'd announced, but she deduced enough to get what he said and nodded. Stepping toward him, she held out a hand. "I can hold the lantern for you. If you wish, that is."
@Jang Sojin ((Oh my god, I didn't realize it was so long, and that I didn't reply. I apologize))
Hearing that the younger girl was fine relieved a bit of worry of off Jeongsu's chest, he watched as the girl tried to get the arrow back from the man she attacked with. "I think that it's stuck there." He answered a bit before walking over trying to at least give it a go but was unable to get the arrow out. "I could help you get some more, you've got strong arm in that bow of yours." He said before searching the bodies for anything that he could make of a shovel, to help bury them. "I'm glad that I was able to help you just in time then." He nodded grabbing one of their shields that had a pointed in making a contraption with a branch that seemed strong enough.
After finishing with the contraption, he looked back up at the girl. "Alright, I'm going to dig up the hole, and then we can bury them in there." He nodded lightly grabbing his lantern from Napoleon, and looked around for a good area to bury them.
@Park Jeongsu I took Sojin a moment to speak as she was still caught up in how easily she was able to just kill other people. Sure, it was i self-defense, but nothing about it felt inherently right. Snapping out of her trance, tearing her gaze from the dead men on the ground, she nodded slowly. "I am fine, thank you." At the mention of a burial, she hummed in agreement and approached the closest corpse to retrieve her arrow from where it was lodged. Her hand shook a bit as she gripped it and as she pulled on it, there was no give. She tried again, a little harder - nothing. She knew she'd probably have to step on the body to gain some leverage, but she just couldn't do that. Shed have to find a blacksmith to replenish her stock. In the few seconds that that had happened, she realized that the man had spoken again and unconsciously reached up to touch the shallow cut on her cheek. "Not nearly as much as they had intended. I...thank you again." she said, offering a slight curtsy. "You've undoubtedly saved my life, good sir"
@Jang Sojin Jeongsu, wasn't exactly sure if his attempts would work, but he knew he couldn't allow a group of people attack one person like that, regardless of what side they were on, regardless if he liked them or not, Jeongsu played fair. At least as fair as he could get, some measures called for not being fair. So when his swords kept clanking against each other, he winced in pain as one of the blades cut against his arm. Then one of the others were down and his last one, he did a few quick rounds before finally finished the other off with a quick stab to the stomach. Pulling his blade out the body fell to the ground, and there were no more attackers left.
Jeongsu glanced back at the woman who he had helped and bowed lightly grabbing a rag and cleaning off his blade, and putting it back in his sheath once all the blood was cleaned off of it. "Are you okay, ma'am?" He asked curiously, looking at the bodies lying on the ground. "I suppose we should at least give them a proper burial regardless of the attack." He nodded to himself lightly before looking up at the girl. "They didn't harm you did they?"
@Park Jeongsu Knowing full well that she didn't have the physical strength to ward off her attackers, Sojin dropped to a crouch - instinctively covering her head with her arms. She squeezed her eyes shut, waiting to feel the cold iron blade of her attacker slice through her, but she was instead met with the clang of colliding metals. Opening her eyes, finding the back of another man before, she gasped - both in shock and relief to be alive.
Not wasting any time to celebrate that fact, she rolled from behind her savior, drawing another arrow and shooting at the attacker that was aiming for him. The man let out a strangled cry as the close range arrow tore straight through his heart. Adrenaline fueled blood pumped in her ears as she glanced around for anyone else, seeing as her savior had a handle on the larger of the group. The one who she shot initially was sitting up from where he'd been thrown to the ground, rubbing his injured shoulder in a daze. She raised her bow at shot him in the head and a part of her felt sick as he fell back down with a thud. It wasn't very often that she had to kill people; maybe 1% of her trips involved being attacked and it was never this many people at once.
@Jang Sojin (Changing to the mountains is perfectly fine.)
Leeteuk did his travels across the land, he couldn't stay in one place for long, especially when he was trying to gather all the information that he could on other kingdoms. It would help him in building a better militia. If anyone was going to do it, he knew he had to be one of them. Riding his horse, Napoleon, through the mountains one of the quickest ways to get to where he was going, and not only that but Jeongsu enjoyed the mountain scenery. It was getting late and Jeongsu decided to let Napoleon rest a bit.
Jeongsu decided to walk alongside his horse, on the trail observing the scenery, the moonlight reflecting off the snow was nice to him. The crunching of the snow was the only sound that he heard for a while. That was until he heard the whistles of arrows blowing in the distance. Which meant someone, somewhere was either hunting or someone was fighting someone else. Not taking any chances he decided to investigate some more. If there was someone getting attacked he wasn't going to just stand by and act like nothing was happening.
It was a few moments later that he seen a group of bandits attacking a young girl. Letting out a soft sigh Leeteuk pulled the sword out of his sheath, quickly running to help the girl, against the ones that were left. A loud clank was heard when appeared out of the shadows blocking an attack on the girl.
@Park Jeongsu (i changed it to mountains, same sentiment though lol)
Pulling back on Juniper's reigns, Sojin brought the horse to a stop in the middle of a reasonably sized clearing -
large enough for her and the steed to have their own space, but not so large that she was basically out in the open. Both the setting sun and the light rumble in her gut convincing her that this was the right place to set up camp for the night. After strapping on the horse's feedbag and tying him up to a sturdy-looking tree, she went off to collect sticks for a fire. After a few minutes, she returned to camp with both arms full of the least damp lumber she could find. Dropping them onto the snow-covered ground, she knelt down and made quick work with attempting to get a flame started. The only sounds in the immediate area were the sound of her sticks rubbing against one another rapidly, the low crunch from Juniper's eating, and her messenger bird responding to the calls of another distant avian.
After about a dozen frustrated sighs and three sets of snapped sticks, Sojin finally managed to create a spark and get a small fire going. Pulling a few sheets of parchment from her satchel, she tore it into shreds and fed the fire until it was strong enough to burn unaided. Rising back to from her crouching position, she walked back over to Juniper to retrieve a blanket to lay on the freezing ground. Just as she was about the unlatch the thing, she heard a twig snap in the distance, followed by the whistle of an arrow being loosed. Seconds later, that very arrow whizzed past her face - the wind stirring a bit of her hair - and embedded itself in the tree just beside her.
Immediately springing into action, pumped full of adrenaline, she unlatched her smaller bow from her side with one hand and readied an arrow with the other, sending it in the same direction from which the other came. Hearing a pained grunt, she was confident that she hit her target, but she hadn't expected three others to surface from their hiding spot, wielding weapons of their own. Luckily she'd gotten their archer, because all the others were close-combat; she managed to shoot another arrow, hitting one in the shoulder and slowing him down. Unluckily, there wasn't that much distance between them and the others were upon her rather quickly.
