human resources
despite supposedly being nice and approachable since they're human resources after all, this department probably has the most s. don't with them. seriously. don't. they will incarcerate you. you don't wanna be part of the urban legend of the fools that disappeared after they messed with Satan.

@〈 yan an 〉°ɹɥ It was never hard to tell when Jimin was annoyed. Despite a typically stoic visage the primordial demon wore every one of her negative emotions on her face - her crisp, pressed sleeve wasn't big enough - and through her fidgety actions as she restrained herself. Despite being a part of human resources, the high demon to human ratio meant that it was rare that she actually dealt with humans. Today was one of those rare cases. Today she sat across from a human employee. And said employee had been ranting and raving for the past fifteen minutes about how "unsafe" she felt in the work environment. Yes. Jimin had been here for fifteen whole minutes listening to a long winded story that boiled down to the fact that a human felt unsafe in an office full of literal hell spawns. The fear was warranted. Jimin could admit that as she sat listening while habitually clicking a pen underneath her desk - the rhythmic clicking a sort of mantra telling her to keep calm and not go of on this quack.

She let the woman talk on for a few more minutes until she got tired of her droning, high-pitched voice. Biting her tongue, and the proverbial bullet, Jimin breathed a deep inward sigh and sat up a little straighter in her chair so she could put an end to the spiel. "Ma'am, listen," she started evenly, the pen clicks slowing down considerably and a forced, polite "customer service" smile stretching across her lips. The woman's words died in as she was cut off so suddenly and she looked to Jimin, expecting a solution to her problem to come from the demon's red painted lips. "I understand that our employees can be a little…rowdy, for lack of a better word, but you had to have known what you were getting yourself into when you came to work with us. You read the employee handbook, correct?"

Her brows were raised questioningly, lips pressed in a thin line, as she fixed her gaze on the lady who seemed to shrink considerably in her seat. She was obviously trying to come up with an answer, a lie, as her eyes shifted about and opened and closed a few times. "Right," Jimin continued, seeing as the answer was clearly no - or maybe a feeble 'I skimmed.' That's what she always got. Skimming. "We'll have to continue this talk with Yanan. This needs to be resolved quickly. I have things to do," she said, standing up from her desk, smoothing her skirt. "Contrary to popular belief, you're not our only employee and your issues aren't the only ones that matter. Come." Heading toward her superior's office, she didn't even wait for the woman to follow, always expecting it from people. Walk and talk. It was efficient. Once they got to the closed door, separating Yanan's office from the rest of the HR department, she fixed a look on the woman - similar to that of a mother telling her child to behave before going somewhere public - and knocked on the door. "Yanan, sir, are you busy?"

@〈 dane dehaan 〉ɹɥ Perhaps Jimin was paranoid in all of her annoyance - that was very possible - but as soon as Dane opened his mouth, she had a sneaking suspicion that these new files were his and not something zapped over from another department like she'd originally assumed. "Keep it up. Dehaan, and I'm taking us both out," she said in a monotonous tone, dragging what she thought was a useless duplicate file to the trash as she sent a warning look over to her fellow hr rep.

Turning back to the computer screen, she saw the deletion progress bar quickly filling up, already on 80%, she also noticed that the file name wasn't what it was supposed to be. Instead of dragging over the duplicate file, she'd trashed an older file with a stupidly similar name " -" she murmured, eyes darting over the screen in search for a cancel button or something to stop the process. Seeing none in sight, she quickly went to put in the keyboard command, and that didn't work either. Instead, the little stupid progress bar just continued filling up - lingering of 99% before hitting 100 and closing. Hell didn't have recycling bin's. No second chances because it was, you know, Hell. Jimin just sat there for a minute, looking at the space where the file used to be. Considering it's age, she was very likely going to have to go to the archives to retrieve it. "Oh hell."

@〈 park jimin ; v 〉ɹɥ to tell the truth, office work was never really dane's forte. he didn't even know why he came to inferno in the first place. normally he would be one of the earliest to clock out and get the out of here. but the only reason dane had to stay overtime for these files was because i) his boss is going to burn his if he doesn't do anything soon and ii) what kind of a man is he to leave a damsel in distress all by herself ?

he spared the other a glance before breaking out into a fit of chuckles. it was hilarious to see the canister of pent up anger on the girl's face when he secretly levitated some of his files over to her while she was distracted. his eyes only remained glued to the screen of his computer, an opened file floating in front of him as he frantically typed on the keyboard before opening his mouth to speak. "would be sad to see you go tho, my friend. after all, you're the only other living thing in this room. no offence, plants."

@〈 dane dehaan 〉ɹɥ Setting everything ablaze sounded good. Really really good, in fact. However it'd only result in more work to be done and a pissed off Satan. She didn't need a pissed off Satan right now. Or ever. The canine demon couldn't remember the last time she'd been on the receiving end of her boss's wrath, but she'd definitely witnessed enough of it to know that he was still just as temperamental, if not more, as he'd always been. "Yeah right," she said with a chuckle and a shake of her head. She hummed in response and plucked the first file from the stack. "You too."

The deeper she got into her work, the more she tuned out the outside world and she barely registered the extra files that appeared at the top of the stack until she looked up and noticed that it was growing rather than shrinking. Doing a double take, she clenched her jaw and started typing with a little more force. If someone was going to add to her workload, she'd appreciate if they just walked the folders over to her instead of transporting them. "I'm literally going to set myself on fire," she said aloud. It was meant to just be a thought, but whatever. It was out there now and the sentiment was 110% real.

@〈 park jimin ; v 〉ɹɥ one of the few things that dane hates other that idiots themselves are idiots that can't do their work properly. apparently one of the idiots of the department had entered the wrong quantity into the system and screwed a few data up. the office wasn't well lit since it's already past office hours, the only thing lighting his desk up is the screen of his computer and the ends of a few rays of light from one of the closest lamp. the archive files on his desk piled up to the point his whole body had disappeared behind them and he didn't have much of a choice except to stand up to compare the numbers.

the other person in the office, the poor girl who volunteered for this was jamie. dane stole a few glances at her as she was staring at the pile of mess on her desk. he grinned to himself and continued to compare the numbers until he heard his name being called. he looked up from the stacks of mess at the girl, leaning against the only empty spot on his table as he smirked. "i say we set these on fire and burn em all, then get straight to drinking. how about that?" he shook his head in amusement before resuming his work. "good luck, jamie."

@〈 dane dehaan 〉ɹɥ Botched paperwork. Besides uncooperative people - humans and demons alike - botched paperwork was one of the things that Jimin hated dealing with the most. She'd initially accepted the work with no problem - it couldn't have been that bad, right? Wrong. As she sat staring at the stack of files creating a fort out of her desk, wondering who could make such a minuscule yet detrimental mistake, she could feel her annoyance increasing by the second. And she hadn't even started. Allowing her eyes to drift away from the stupid piles of paper, Jimin spotted the other person still in the office: her unfortunate partner in crime for the evening, Dane. At least she wasn't doing this alone. That thought in itself made her feel a bit better and she sat up straighter in her chair, getting ready to work. "Dane," she spoke up, turning to face him briefly with an encouraging smile. "Let's crush this bull fast and go out for drinks, hm?"

@〈 seo sujin 〉ɹɥ Sujin's less than eager demeanor wasn't hard to notice and Jimin didn't blame her. The human world kinda - no, really - but hell really too. If you were going to be in a ty place, at least keep things interesting by going to a new one. She looked back at Sujin with a smile, nudging the other demon's shoulder lightly with her own when she caught up. "Worry not, dear Sujin, I'll be your guide," she said with a smile. The fact that the her fellow hr rep had never been to a mall was...surprising, to say the least. It made Jimin wonder just how old Sujin was and just how little she ventured out of hell. She realized that, beyond their lunch relationship and the chat they had to complain about clients, she didn't know much about Sujin.

"Malls are...interesting," she responded, with a lack of things to really say to explain the establishments. Stepping into the elevator as well, she pressed the button for the first floor and leaned against the opposite wall, thinking about how to explain the mall as a concept. Of course, there was shopping - because capitalism enslaves everyone - but different malls had different things. She'd been to one that had recreational things like mini golf and movies, among other things. Malls were pretty fun, but her only concern right now was the food. Unable to come up with an all-encompassing description, she shrugged. "Once you get past the stupid humans, malls are fun. You'll see."
〈 seo soojin 〉ɹɥ [A] 6 years ago
@〈 park jimin ; v 〉ɹɥ sujin didn't often go up to the human world, especially not for food. most of the time, she ate souls, or lesser demons, or the rare human during her few visits to the night life of the human world. she wasn't exactly a picky eater. today though, she did want something different - souls could get boring, and she was too tired to run around hunting for lesser demons. something from earth sounded good, even if she next to no idea about what it was supposed to offer.

sujin shrugged again. "i'll follow your lead, i don't know much about the human world." she followed along with jamie, already tired just thinking about the human world. it would undoubtedly be bright and cold, two things that sujin wasn't ready for. "the mall sounds fine," she replied simply. "i've never been to one though. not too sure what you can do there." the demon waited for the elevator to reach their floor before stepping in, leaning against the walls as she hoped her decision to enter the human world wouldn't turn out to be a horrible one.

@〈 seo sujin 〉ɹɥ Sujin was right. The food down here was ; in fact, Jimin had a feeling that some of it actually was . Souls got old too. They were like water to humans: absolutely necessary for survival, but sometimes you just want a soda or something. She wanted her soda or something. A smile grew on her face at the prospect of heading up to Earth for lunch and she nodded, clasping her hands together down in front of her. Being so busy with demon affairs, it had actually been a while since Jimin had visited the human world. Maybe a week or two, which was pretty long considering she used to go up at least twice a week at one point. Thinking back, that was usually for the nightlife, so this would be the first time in a while that she was going up during the day.

"Sounds good to me. Any specific place?" she asked, before jerked her head in the direction of the exit and elevator. Assuming Sujin knew that it mean "let's go," she started walking while looking to the other for a response. Not even a few seconds later, she spoke up again, "Maybe we can go to the mall? It's the middle of the workday, so maybe there won't be as many humans around," she paused in her speaking, reaching out to press the call button. "Maybe. Hopefully," she added after a bit of thought. "Either way, we can walk around a bit after eating."
〈 seo soojin 〉ɹɥ [A] 6 years ago
@〈 park jimin ; v 〉ɹɥ honestly, sujin hated her job. of course, it wasn't a big deal, as the demon practically hated everything, but all the complaints made her want to flip over the whole company building as if it were a table. the hours seemed endless, and the complaints of harassment within the different departments seemed even more so. she was honestly surprised she'd managed to hang in there for such a long time without beating someone to death.

as if the curses she'd whispered under her breath were a prayer, the time marched on, marking the floor's designated break time. she had to admit she was pretty jealous of d&p's numerous break times, but she had to take what she could get. her mood suddenly lifted - even the noisy alarm that could be heard throughout the room (she was pretty sure she knew whose it was) didn't dampen her spirits as she logged off her computer, her face a twisted grin that practically screamed "i'm free, es!"

before she knew it, her usual lunch partner was already by her desk, and she almost sighed in relief. jamie was probably the only demon she didn't hate, aside from her boss. she stood up from her chair, shrugging as she turned to her co-worker. "food down here is and i'm tired of hunting for souls," she replied. "shall we visit the human world for lunch?"
〈 park jimin ; v 〉ɹɥ 6 years ago
@〈 seo sujin 〉ɹɥ Having long since finsihed the work that had been piled onto her desk in the morning, Jamie was halfway keeping up with the company chat while waiting - quite impatiently - for her actual break. True to hell, time just seemed to tick on at the slowest rate possible. It was basically like torture and she silently cursed herself for her efficient work. If she was a slacker, she'd have work to carry her through until lunch time.

It felt like hours before the little clock in the corner of her screen marked the next hour and her the alarm that she set on her phone (just in case she was too busy to watch the time) went off, filling the open room with the obnoxiously cheery sound that she couldn't be bothered to change. She didn't pay much mind to the dirty looks a few of the other HR employees gave her, even letting it go on a little longer just to spite them, and logged off of her computer. Once she was sure that it was locked up, she crossed the room to where her usual lunch companion was.

"Sujin," she called once she was close enough, casually shoving her hands into her blazer pockets. She stopped by the other woman's desk, shifting her weight to one foot. "Where are we headed this time?" she asked, not bothering for greetings. They already knew each other and all, there was no need.
