@hwang hyunjin (that's okay dear... I take my time as well)
The clueless angel was helpless at the moment, she was embarrassed knowing that she interrupted the peaceful environment of the library. She also knew well that she definitely got herself in trouble with everyone in the place. She blinked her eyes as only one person made it towards her and she stepped away from the machine still covering her ears until the noise stopped. When she looked at the machine again she gasped softly thinking that the machine died like the other black ones. "you.. You killed it" she whispered in a very sad tone before actually looking up at the young man and finally seeing his face. She felt uneasy and something tugged in her heart. Even though his voice and tune weren't that angry or loud it still sounded rude and harsh for the angel to handle. Why did he have to be so mean to her like that when it is clearly wasn't intended at all. "I'm sorry.. I'm sorry" she bowed her head few times apologizing to everyone as they went back to their books then she directed her words to the young man. "I didn't know the sound would be this loud... And I didn't know how to turn it down" she wanted to defend herself, her voice was shaking as well as her hands.
the library was the boy's safe haven. a place where he could have some peace and quiet, some time alone, and endless knowledge just waiting to be learned. the boy was leaning back in his seat, a stack of books in front of him as he prepared himself for several hours of pure bliss -- only to practically fall out of his chair a the sudden shrill beeps that filled the spacious room. "what the hell,," he muttered under his breath as he searched the area for the perpetrator, his eyes finally landing on a seemingly flustered female standing by the computers. turning the machine off clearly wasn't rocket science and yet ,, she seemed to have no idea what she was doing. ten seconds was too much for him to bear -- he had come here for peace and he was not going to let it be ruined with this useless interruption. seeing as no one else was willing to get involved, he rose from his seat and strode over the the girl, irritation obvious in his face. without a word, he promptly minimized the screens and turned the computer off before giving her a hard stare. "why turn it on when you don't even know how to use it. are you from the countryside or some ?" his tone was soft, despite his words and he gave the female a once over. she seemed harmless.
@hwang hyunjin It was almost midday so not so many people around the library at this hour. It meant that all the machines that looked strange in the library would be vacant to use. Naeun wanted to actually try and check on those machines because how one could press on one part and something on that big window changes like that. It was a mystery to the angel and she wanted to find the answer before her curiosity could grow any bigger. She walked into the library, familiar with the shelves and books of course. Maybe their colors and the paper changed but they were still the same books she knew then she walked to the part where she could fine these machines. She looked around and found one that was already bright with light. She didn't really know if the ones that turned black were dead or not because angels are never sent to grab the soul of a machine like that but they just looked as if they were dead when that window turned black. She sat down on the chair in front of the machine and looked at the small board with few stones on top. She knew the letters on the stones (keyboard) but there were some drawings that she couldn't understand. Out of pure curiosity she pressed the stones (buttons) one by one and everytime she pressed a stone something strange appeared on the screen. "I n t e r n e t... Internet?! What does that mean? " she asked herself and then there was another box where she could write even more words so she started writing "hymns" she typed and once she did few small photos started to pop up like they came out of nowhere. She wanted to pick one but she couldn't just use her hand, she tried but it didn't work. Then she remembered seeing a human holding something that looked like a small mouse. She held it and tried to move it which magically worked and the picked the one she wanted but the sound was too loud that she jumped back in her seat and covered her ears not knowing how to turn off the machine.
@catherine chi ♜ The small movement on the lady's back wasn't lost on Baekhyun's eyes. He didn't let it show on his face, however, successfully stopping to urge to raise an eyebrow as his reaction. He'd seen some wings move, a couple of tails flicker. He'd once tried to surf the net for anything about it, and while he saw that there were others like him, clueless about the whole situation, there didn't seem to be a nationwide event where it required dressing up as either an angel or a demon. That was a shame, of course. He did find amusement in being either, as he was certain everyone would have liked it anyway.
The lady's answer was strange. "The truth, of course," he replied without hesitation. Why else would he ask if he didn't want the truth? Now that he'd gotten a better look on the other, he realized that there was also something peculiar about the way she was bundled up. While he was aware that due to the storm, it had become significantly colder and that having more layers was recommended, that didn't explain the rather large bulge on her back.
Plus those horns seemed to be a hassle to wear around. His eyes narrowed slightly. He trusted his eyesight enough to consider the fact that those horns... didn't seem as though they'd simply been glued there. But wouldn't that be a result of good make-up skills? He might have not lived that long, but he'd seen the wonders that make-up could do if one was skilled and pretty enough to make it happen.
His eyes glinted in expectant manner, while his face kept its pleasant mien. "I doubt you can lie about something that's out in the public." Not to him, at least.
@byun baekhyun Umber eyes flicked around the book-filled shelves for anything that caught her eye. It could be anything at all and she'd read it. In fact, her previous returns consisted of an Edgar Allan Poe compilation, a romance novel called Her Mad Hatter, and a book on how to make the perfect brownies. Her eyes soon fell upon a book about demonology. Unable to help herself, her lithe fingers tug it off the shelf and bring it into her embrace, then opening it to see just what the humans believed about her kind. If nothing else, it would be entertaining to see.
Her thoughts of false information were quickly interrupted by a soft voice. It sounded almost...pretty. Her eyes lift from the book and search for the source, only to find a boy standing nearby and seemingly staring. She supposed it couldn't be helped. It wasn't her fault that her true form had returned to her before she had the chance to retrieve more reading material.
"Yes?" She inquires, scanning over the male's appearance. He was definitely a human, that was for sure. But this one seemed different from some of the others she had the privilege of meeting. He was beautiful, that was for sure, but there was something in his eyes that didn't sit right with her. "An event? What are you- oh." She hesitates, ebony wings flexing slightly within her coat as she reaches a single hand up to touch one of her horns. "That depends. Would you like the truth or a lie?"
@catherine chi ♜ Today was one of Baekhyun's off-days, and what better way to spend it than to visit one of his favorite places? Though he must say... The world must be ending already. Outside, when he looked late at night while he was getting back home, he didn't think there would still be people trying to wear costumes at this time of the year. And what more, most of the people he'd seen wearing costumes seemed to be... acquainted with one another. So was that why there seemed to be a theme among... these costumes people? He had to say though — angels and demons? How /creative/.
Once he arrived, the (rather stingy) librarian gave him a nod of acknowledge, to which he only answered with a cordial smile. The librarian had gotten... /less/ stingy to him as he continued to visit the library regularly. It's been what, a year or so since he decided that this library would be his new 'turf.' The library wasn't filled with that many people, much like usual. Did kids nowadays even read hardbound books? Or did they stick to the digital world more often? It was most likely the latter — though he wasn't complaining. That simply meant the small world he'd built in libraries would stay small.
Peaceful.
And quiet.
As he walked through the shelves, a certain peculiarity caught his eye, causing him to halt in his tracks as he blinked. Did he see right? Were /those/ horns? Still disbelieving, he walked backwards, looking at the woman who seemed to have a rather unusual bulge in her back (he wouldn't judge, of course — everyone had their own circumstances), and... horns — horns protruded from her head, and an eyebrow raised. Was she one of the people who did cosplay? If so... well.
"Pardon me, miss," he found himself saying, tone polite as usual as he addressed the other. But he truly was curious, and how else would he get his answer if he didn't ask? "But is there some kind of event in the city that I'm unaware of? I keep seeing wings and horns since last night."
@byun baekhyun Knowledge. It was something she sought out like an antidote for a sickness. A moth to a flame, if you will. Upon reaching Earth's surface for the second time, the demon quickly learned that such a thing was written down now. Gone were the days of passing on information verbally in the form of lessons, stories, and advice. My how the times had changed since she was cursed into Hell. Words were translated into numerous languages and put upon a material that came from trees. The humans were more intelligent than she thought them to be. Impressive.
And during her time on Earth, she learned of establishments called...libraries? Large buildings filled to the brim with knowledge-filled tomes that covered everything from 'recipes' to 'World War 2' to 'The Black Death'. It was fascinating to her. She soon found herself craving this knowledge of the world more than she'd ever craved in her life.
After a time, Catherine fought her way into earning a library card from the front desk, treating each book she checked out like a trophy that was never to be damaged or harmed. With a friendly wave to the front desk librarian, she made her way into the familiar building, ebony wings carefully tucked into the back of her trench coat, tail curled up in her shorts. As for her horns, she claimed it was part of a 'cosplay' she'd wanted to attempt. Despite hating the word 'blessing', she felt the need to bless the man who created the urban dictionary. Without it, she would have no idea how to speak like the modern people.
She then slid the previously checked-out books into the 'Book Drop' slot at the desk and then made her rounds around the first floor. What would catch her eye today? A horror novel? A history textbook? A How To manual? She wasn't sure.
