Groaning a weighty and hungry groan, she very slowly and carefully rests her head on the table before her, cheek to the surface and eyes staring at the wall. "Why do I have to diet?" is what she mumbles, but the self-discipline side of her is already yelling about potion control and self restraint. Regardless, she rubs her stomach with a pout and huffs out a quick sigh. "Maybe I'll bum a buck or two later to eat a real meal."
@t. zhou zhennan Though he had already shuffled her off in front of the lockers, she wiggles her way closer to the one she saw his things over. "It's this one, right?" she asks while giving it a few test jumps to try and look, forgetting she's too short. When that dawns on her, she slowly facepalms, but spins around to look at Zhennan again and give him the same smile from before. "Will you kneel for me, hon? I'm pretty sure I can reach."
[ +* ] replied late but did so in case you wanted to conitnue :"D
Zhennan's about to speak when Nayeon beats him to it- clearly they had the same train of thought. As expected, two short people where better than one tall one. "Mmhmm. That's exactly what I was thinking," He lauded the other, gently steering her towards said locker. "Let's grab my stuff quickly so I can find the culprit." And he totally had a guess about who it might be...
Staring up at the area he directs her attention, then blinking with a confused smile on her face as it returns to him, she has a brief moment of silence. How could she help him with this? She's tiny compared to him. And with that in mind, a small "huh?" leaves her lips, but then she gets an idea she thinks will be good. "Hey wait!" she gasps, fanning a hand at him, "let me on your shoulders! I'll get it for ya!"
@t. zhou zhennan Jaehyun stared at the shift manager for a long moment, squinting to try and see what the he was trying to do. Suddenly, from nowhere he sees weapons, and this fight is no longer even. (Not that a janitor fighting a shift supervisor was even to begin with: his job was at jeopardy.)
“Words, Zhennan— Words,” Jaehyun tries, hands up defensively and he shifts back again, this time not pulling any tricks. He is practically begging for his life. “I would rather not shed blood— besides, we’re on the clock are we not?” If Jaehyun wasn’t pleading for his life, there wouldn’t be a quiver in his voice.
Zhennan shook his head, inwardly pleased with the attention he received from Nayeon. Unlike a certain centaur, she knew how to treat him properly. He pointed towards the lockers at the back of the room, specifically the ones on the topmost row. "Somebody moved my stuff up high..." here he paused to pout, plush tiers pressed together. "I can't reach it."
In the middle of a childish "no you!" battle, she doesn't immediately respond to the tug on her sleeve and instead continues the fight until hanging up on her "enemy," mumbling on about how he was a piece of and stuffing a few fries in before turning her attention to Zhennan. As if it never happened, she switches her tone and her overall demeanor to softer ones, eyes falling onto him and looking him over for any signs of tiredness. "I'm sorry, honey, did I wake you?"
Zhennan, neatly folded onto the couch in the corner of the room, lifts his eyelids with interest when the pheonix comes storming in. That person's name was... Nahee? Nana? Wait- Na...Nayeon, right? Anyway, though he was somebody who strictly preferred peace and quiet, it was nice to see somebody bring life back to the room... that and he had something she could do for him. Slipping off of his perch, the thunderbird slid over smoothly only to tug at the receptionist's sleeve.
// her phone tucked between her shoulder and ear, she huffs a sigh and carefully click clacks her way into the room, nearly tripping on one of her heels getting caught in the door;
see!! i nearly tripped and died because of you!
// that's what she says, but the person on the phone continues to shout ridiculous things into her speaker right back at her, even as she straightens out a buck to slide it into the vending machine and buy her favorite snack, Flaming Hot Phoenix Fries, then while she sits and reaches into her purse to grab sanny wipes as well as her foldable chopsticks to eat with.
yell at me one more time and i'm hanging up! try me, !
@ce. jung jaehyun With Zhennan hugging his forehead and tears in his eyes, it must have been difficult to stare solemnly at the tiny boy, but with a glare that was guaranteed to cut through flesh it wasn't as if he was giving the other much choice in the matter. It was clear- appease him, or die trying. "Okay," The two syllables were chewed up and spat out slowly, return Jaehyun's narrowed gaze with his own. "Sure we can." The dancing volts faded momentarily, but it did not bode any better for the poor centaur as Zhennan began to pull weapons out of what surely was thin air; some of which seemed like they belonged in a medieval torture cell. "How do you want it then?"
@t. zhou zhennan "Sir with all due respect--," the irony of the statement was hard not to laugh, but it's easy to keep a straight face as Jaehyun might have been running for his life, "I did fear for my life." The only movement for a long moment was Jaehyun's raggedy breaths in time with the rise and fall of his chest. He watched the other with narrowed eyes before holding his hands up. "I hit you out of self defense-- can we settle this without the electricity?" he points to Zhennan's crackling hands.
@ce. jung jaehyun Without warning the mop that had been previously clutched tightly in a certain Jaehyun's hands came hurtling towards the thunderbird, eyes widening in astonishment moments before it collided with his forehead with a dull thwack- he had been running far too fast to avoid the missile. Momentarily stunned, pearlescent droplets sprung in the corners of his eyes as Zhennan chased without abandon now. He was going to make him pay! And luck must have been on his side, for the pair stuttered to a stop at a dead end. "You hit me!"
@t. zhou zhennan 'Fuc--! This is useless!' Jaehyun curses his daily form, regretting the chances he had to train it to run faster. Alas, when he felt the thunderbird close in, he found he couldn't think about that. Rounding a second corner--it was a tight bend!--Jaehyun tossed the mop back, abandoning it as he tore forward, and forewent all reservations he had against shifting at work.
He leaps, and lands with hooves hitting the tiled flooring--he didn't spare a second glance back as suddenly he found he was doing circles around the same floor.
He decides to take a turn, only to corner himself in a dead end. Well, this is exactly how he hoped not to die.
@ce. jung jaehyun It was an idiotic feud, to be completely honest with himself. Yes, Zhennan liked to nap a little in spots that occasionally proved to be inconvenient- but he was also completely certain that on his very first day, he had made it absolutely crystal clear to every employee to not wake him up. And if the centaur didn't get the memo- well then, he was going to have to pay for it. In blood. He almost wants to laugh when the other dashes away, the corner of plush lips carving a bloodless smirk. Oh, how foolish it was to compete in speed with a bird. In split seconds he was hot on Jaehyun's tail, electricity bouncing everywhere in the newly painted hallway. "Stop running and come back, and I'll consider going easy on you!"
@t. zhou zhennan And there it is - the crackle of the thunderbird's power manifesting around the other's fists. Jaehyun steels himself against the shift manager, aware that things were soon about to hit a boiling point. It's not his fault that Zhennan slept in the worst spots--the spots that needed the most vaccuuming--but Jaehyun was in no position to argue.
"We did, indeed--" Jaehyun knows better than to wag his tongue at a restless thunderbird--what was up with them anyways? Why were their feathers always so easily ruffled. "--How about I get out of it then?" He ran. There was no chance he was sticking around to see his wrath, and Jaehyun zigzags down the hall, and around a corner.
The thunderbird's face was an impassively frozen mask- as it always was, staring up at the centaur darkly. "We saw each other yesterday," He deadpanned without a hint of mercy, "and you're in my way." Was his soft-spoken warning, sparks beginning to fly around his fists.
"Jung Jaehyun-"
Jaehyun didn't realize he had mopped himself into the lion's den, and was mere feet away from where Zhennan was staring at him.
"Zhennan," he greets with a gulp, and clutches the mop, bracing himself for the worst as he watched the thunderbird, "Nice to see you around. How's it going?" He slides his weight onto his back foot, bracing for a sprint.
Zhennan had been drifting in and out of sleep the same time he was drifting around the office, a banana milk carton in his hand and the straw in his mouth but not drinking it. He brightened up at a familiar face though- or rather sharpened with a dangerous glint in his gaze. "Jung Jaehyun-"
jaehyun kept searching over his shoulder and all around as he kept an eye out for a certain young exuberant thunderbird with a vengeance; his work suffers greatly as he pays more attention to his surroundings than his work.
Loud straw sounds echoing in the distance with the heavy thump of her boots, Jinsoul enters the vicinity delighted to have conjured up a concoction she could actually finish and hungry for a snack to go with it. When she steps past the threshold, her tall plastic "milk" carton in hand, she spots an employee (Jeno) chatting with someone and continues to head over to the vending machine... But then she realizes that someone is the regional manager of all people. Though her head hits the table she hides under and a quiet "ow" sounds immediately after, she prays she goes unseen and shudders at the thought of her boss seeing her with her messy bed hair look and out of uniform. She was off the clock and only here as a detour stop, sure, but being on the premises and looking like she was in front of such an important person? Unacceptable!
"Are you sure?" he asks, feeling a tad bit guilty at not having to pay her back. Jeno kind of feels like he owes her, since otherwise he would have had quite the tummy ache on shift. Although he wasn't burned by her touch, it certainly did shock him, like when you have your face a little too close to a warm oven. He jolted, but was otherwise fine, offering her a grateful smile.
The boy's reaction had the corner of Yuqi's lips tugging upwards. "You don't have to pay me back, just eat well." She beamed a bigger smile at him and gently patted him on his shoulder before slipping her hands into her pocket. Her touches usually got people yelping in shock from the warmth and she was honestly inwardly hoping he wasn't going to get burned from that small pat of hers.
Thoroughly enjoying one bag of chips and seeing Jeno's reaction to the regional manager buying him a treat, a wide grin takes over his face and he chuckles. Silently, he sends Jeno encouraging thoughts and mouths a "play it cool!" and "you got this!" to him with thumbs up since he did feel a little bad about that potentially embarrassing first impression the other just made, but he doesn't realize that this was partially his own fault. Regardless, seeing the boy get shy all of a sudden was cute and he hoped Yuqi thought so too.
Jeno will also never admit to almost choking on his water when the regional manager approaches him, cupping his hand under his chin to catch any stray drops. Once he's caught his breath he blinks a few times before taking the snack, bowing his head. "Thank you. I can pay you back tomorrow!" His smile is two thirds shy, one third grateful. "I just don't have anymore cash on me right now."
When the manager pats him on the back Jeno naturally folds in on himself, just a little, with a small, rueful smile. He steps aside as the other takes interest in the machine, mouth left gaping as it works for Kun. How could it work for the other shifter, but not him? It's just not fair! With a sigh and - no, he won't admit to pouting - the boy walks over the to the water dispenser, because at least it's free.
From afar, Yuqi watched as the two male interacted, holding in an amused laugh when Kun merely saluted Jeno and waltzed off with food without even looking back a second time. With a soft sigh and a shake of her head, she walks over to the vending machine before paying for a cereal bar. She turns to the unfortunate one before holding it out to him. "Here, take it."
"Aaah... man. That !" is what Kun says to be somewhat sympathetic, accompanying that phrase with a heavy handed but trying to be gentle pat on the back and a sigh at the machine in question. Shortly after, however, he pull out his own wallet and slides in a few bucks to buy two bag of chips and a cookie, then salutes Jeno as he takes his goodies and has a seat at a table nearby.
His tongue is sticking out in concentration as he tries to uncrumple his monstro-buck in front of the vending machine, just wanting to purchase a small snack because he forgot to eat breakfast. Once it's flat enough he puts it into the machine...only for it to gobble up the bill without registering, leaving him penniless and snackless.
