the question passes through jinyoung's ears like a bullet train as he was taken aback by the lovely view of his roommate's dogs. it always has been a lifelong dream for the man to see this many of his fluffy friends up close - because let's face it, when life gives you lemons - you have dogs to make everything better in a jiffy. a variety of breeds look up to greet his strange presence within eunwoo's humble abode, and his eyes trace through the rhythmic wagging of their tails paired with their soft, pleasing pants. the dogs were just as welcoming as their owner, and jinyoung was thankful for that.
he blinked once to somehow place his consciousness back into reality, keeping his priorities straight. from the heartwarming view of the dogs, jinyoung leads his gaze towards the distressing form of eunwoo who was clearly suffering under the torment of his body's temperature. rosy patches marked their territory on the vast spaces of the delicate man's body, and he noticed how eunwoo would shiver almost every second despite the heat radiating through the breadth they're in.
"never in my life would i let a sick man like you go out of his way to meet a healthy friend." he rolled his eyes, releasing a soft sigh as he reads eunwoo's condition. "the only person that's going to be taken care of today is you, young man." jinyoung couldn't care less if he was sounding like a pesky mom at this point, because he knew how much people like eunwoo almost ends up being the most stubborn of the bunch. given the countless people he's been reaching out to, the ones who usually give out so much of their energy for others would also be the same type of people who barely have anything left to give for themselves.
as jinyoung props his backpack on one of the couches, he s it carefully and lifts a videotape from it labelled 'for eunwoo'. he turns his attention back at the man who was already busy preparing drinks for him back at the kitchen counter to which is purposely sighs in frustration. "cha eunwoo," he calls out in a sharp tone, making his way from the living room to the kitchen as he stops his friend from doing any more work, "i can take care of myself. in the meantime, go make yourself busy with this instead while i prepare food for you."
jinyoung hands in the videotape containing the recording of the class that eunwoo missed out. it wasn't like him to volunteer to help a friend out of the blue, but seeing as it was cha eunwoo - he didn't hesitate. "now, go find a space to snuggle in and watch that tape. leave things to me."

even under a light cotton sheet his body radiated the heat of a thousand suns – muscles aching and cheeks burning with the intense flush of fever. his breath quivered in short, quick gasps every time he inhaled, his lungs having no choice but to painfully and rigidly take in the air around him. sometimes it was rough, and other times he could manage, but then again, he couldn't seem to stop shaking in both instances either. the sun had barely risen but the fever had jostled him awake and eunwoo was rendered incapable of receding back into slumber. bed-ridden for the past three, now four, days, he ate nothing but the most watery of soups so diminished was his appetite, as his body refused to exert any effort unless deemed unnecessary.
he craved for a home-cooked meal, his palate already withering away from the monotone of his recent meals. the only thought keeping him from succumbing to the fevers dastardly talons? the fact that baejin was set to move into his apartment. eunwoo exhales a relieved sigh, glad he'd gotten to cleaning the apartment well before he got sick. the rest of the morning passed unbearably as eunwoo went about his daily routine with excruciating difficulty. he had just gotten himself out of the shower when a soft series of knocks interrupted him from drying his hair. he wasn't expecting anyone today, anyone except—
"i'm coming," he responds, voice a bit hoarse. clad in a simple bathrobe and with a towel draped over his head, eunwoo makes his way towards the door in haste. the automatic lock chimes with a tinkling melody as he finally opens the door. "hey." was the first word to escape his lips, obsidian meeting liquid pools of umber as he strikes a gentle simper. "i could've met you at ground floor y'know?" he'd never met baejin in person before, but first impressions somehow seemed to have slipped his mind, and to say he was a little abashed would be an understatement – clad in a bathrobe, with his hair a tousled into mane of trickling water droplets and all.
"come in, ma maison est votre maison." he swings the door open, revealing an almost complete view of the spacious inside, and ten dogs – the nascent rays of the morning sun casting through the windows with them all comfortably huddled together, some on and others around the couch. "wanna have something cold to drink? it's hot out." eunwoo adds, alabaster skin glistening with a feverish tinge of crimson.

it took him quite some time to finish processing all the documents needed for the apartment. on top of his day to day load, the young lad persevered in fast tracking his resident application given the need to move in to a cheaper place. his expenses have been piling up, and this was indirectly proportional to the freelance projects he's been getting to earn a living. in as much as he wanted to keep living in his own personal space, which was the only remnant he had of his mother, he was left with no other choice but to let it go.
it was the safest route that he had if he wanted to survive being in college.
from the first time he landed in the chatroom, he felt himself in admiration of eunwoo's presence. the man was gentle, but it wasn't pretentious. it was the type of presence that jinyoung craved ever since he left home to thrive alone. after all, if the bloodline couldn't provide him with the family he deserved - he might as well just explore what the world had to offer and find a family of his own. he pulled out the text message that eunwoo previously sent him which contained his address, and to his surprise - the building was just how he imagined it to be. the towering apartment complex was simply donned in a clean white color, and contrary to how cheap the fees were - it felt as though jinyoung was able to score a package. soon after, he scurried right where eunwoo's room was and managed to pull out a soft knock on the door's body.
it was the first time he'll be meeting his roommate, and what better way to do it than surprise him with the full recording of the michelin demo class he missed earlier today. at the back of his head, jinyoung wished that he was feeling better with a body temperature soaring beyond normal body heat.
