Soft hues of gold and lilac peered through the windows as Sunyoung made her way down the hall. She was in a hurry, worried if she was going to complete the plethora of tasks before the princess woke from slumber. From mending ornate dresses to retrieving breakfast for her royal highness, the young handmaid had no time to waste. That was until she spotted something glimmering at the corner of her eye.
There laying idly on the floor was a golden chalice. It had a dent at the rim—likely due to the carelessness of a guest from last night’s ball—yet that did not diminish its ornate design. It would still sell decently in the market. Sungyoung stopped and looked around to make sure no one was at either end of the hall. Most of the items she stole were forgettable, an embedded jewel that fell of a dress or a silk handkerchief that was starting to unravel. Things that those with wealth and power would not notice—or quite frankly, care about—going missing.
This was her reasoning as she bent down to grab the chalice. She inspected it up close, a satisfied smile on her face when she saw that the dent was less noticeable than she had originally thought. With that, she slipped the chalice into the makeshift pocket in the skirt of her dress. Little did she know that someone had been watching her this entire time...
