Library

Do you want some time alone? Perhaps, you just want to read in a peaceful place? This is the right place for you. Mostly, this is the favorite place of the children of Athena.

Well, our “think tanks” do need to stuff their genius brains with knowledge, right?

[R] Pompeii Brooks 10 years ago
{Closed for Greyson Godfrey.}

Reading had always been a hobby of Pompeii's. A chance to escape the idiocy of the people around her and such. It's been a challenge, especially with her dyslexia. However, she managed to overcome it by telling herself that she wouldn't let a jumble of letters best her. She was Pompeii Brooks, the goddamned princess of the Britain's underworld. (Or as the people in London so disdainfully call her.) Funny, considering she was more Roman than anything. That is why she liked reading so much. No one tried to offend her in her readings.

A tactic to help herself with diversity, and to eliminate the jeers of being like every other Hecate child who only search for magic books, was to give herself a Dewey Decimal number at random and read whatever book that had that same number. It was a habit, a ritual, you could say. This ritualistic thing she's done every year at the library (be it in Camp Jupiter, in London or here) makes her surprisingly more Hecate-like than others. She gave herself a random number then set out to find it.

Only for there to be no book. Pompeii gritted her teeth, her eye twitching in the slightest. How does this happen? This has never happened in all her times of doing this little ritual of hers. How dare this happen! At the moment, there was only one other person in the library. Not caring on whether or not she'd make a good impression, Pompeii walked up to the person and snatched the book straight out of his hands. After examining this book, she shoved it back into his hold, all without messing up his page number.

"That book. I need it. Why do you have it?" she snapped without saying hello or smiling or being polite. It was a terrible habit of Pompeii's to be rude and mean. But, maybe it could be considered as her personality.

@[G] Do Kyungsoo

Sehun has no plausible reason for stalking (he prefers following though because stalking is something a psychopath would do and Sehun's definitely not a psychopath, maybe slightly psychotic but not a psychopath) a particular short boy called Kyungsoo all the way to the library. Actually, Sehun does have a reason. He wants to propose a worthwhile deal that will benefit both sides. It's do with the tattered copy of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone in his hand--he wants someone to tell the popular tale of The Boy Who Lived because the films just don't cut it even though Emma Watson is his favourite actress but damn it, he's nine thousand per cent done with his mortal companions who relentlessly engage in discussions about the books whilst he's left to rot with computer-generated imagery and English accents. He just really wants someone to read to him. He's that deprived.

And that someone is or rather will be Kyungsoo the peculiar boy who spends the days indulging in an insane amount of books. Sehun's certain that the boy can fluently read without his dyslexia acting up. He knows this because he's been observing the boy from afar like the creep he is. "Lucky piece of sh--, biscuit," Sehun voices, admittedly envious of how the boy can read. Sehun feels slightly stupid because he's internally crying at his disability. Nevertheless, here he is, hiding behind a book shelf, approximately four metres away from the said boy. He's currently devising his battle plan, by devising a battle plan, he actually means picking one of five hundred prepared speeches to stealthily approach the boy without scaring him off.

Sehun has always been extremely indecisive so it's normal that he spends more time planning how to say hi rather than actually saying hi. Figuring that he might look like a satanic serial killer with all the furious mumbling, he decides to go with his gut feeling. With the scruffy copy of his Harry Potter book in his hand, Sehun lurches forward in an attempt to make a grand entrance and slams the said copy on a desk in front of Kyungsoo.

"MY NAME IS OH SEHUN AND YOU SHOULD READ THIS FOR ME AND YOU CAN'T SAY NO BECAUSE I WILL HUNT YOU DOWN, SKIN YOU ALIVE AND MAKE A NICE COAT FOR MYSELF SO DON'T YOU DARE SAY NO or I will cry myself to sleep. My point is, you should read this for me, I'll pay you like ten drachmas or something, if you're into that, I don't know, please read for me, I'll give you something for reading for me."

Subtlety is something Sehun has never grown fond of.

@[G] Kim Dani Naeun who was about to continue reading, froze at Dani's sudden question. "Who? Me?" She asked, chuckling nervously as she pointed at herself. "Uh..I.." She didn't know what to say.

"Did you know that the Nemean Lion was the size of a pick-up truck, with silver claws and golden glittering fur?" She asked, trying to change the subject. "and! It's fangs gleam like stainless steel." She added, showing her the book. "Too bad it doesn't have a proper picture of it.." She sighed as she went back to reading, clearly trying to avoid Dani's sudden question.

Naeun was avoiding her question on purpose because, well.. she just felt odd whenever that question came to mind and how each time that question was asked, a certain somebody would come to mind.
[G] Angel Lorette 11 years ago
@[G] Kim Dani "Well.. Don't judge the whole flock just because of one person." Naeun told Dani. "Anyhow, the name's Son Naeun." She told her. "Daughter of Athena." She added, smiling. "I should probably get back to my book. You know..there's a place I often go to whenever I wish to avoid my half-siblings." She said. "The beach. It's actually quite comfortable there." She continued, nodding slightly.

"Anyhow, don't mind me. I'll just be reading." Naeun said.

[ I'm sorry for the short reply D: ]
[G] Angel Lorette 11 years ago
@[G] Kim Dani Naeun smiled in agreement. "They are divas but you should use some time to get to know them." She told her. "You can't judge them by the way they seem to act." She added. "I was forced to learn that the hard way." She muttered so softly that nobody could hear that but herself.

"Anyhow, I know why you hate your mother. Most of us here hates our godly parents for leaving us at a young age." Naeun said understandingly. "Totally understandable even though I don't hate my own mother." She said, nodding slightly. "Anyhow, what makes you think all of your siblings are divas? Like every single one of them?" She asked.
[G] Angel Lorette 11 years ago
@[G] Kim Dani Naeun chuckled slightly at the other girl's words. "Not beautify people to death.. I believe she could use her charmspeaking to convince people to kill." She told her with an amused smile. "Take me for example. My mother's the goddess of wisdom and battle strategy, Athena. I use knowledge to defeat those before me. Well, not everyone but I'm sure you get the point." She continued.

"Haven't you ever noticed people obeying you when you place persuasion in your voice?" She asked. "That's charmspeak for you. Not every Aphrodite kid gets that ability." She said. "You'll only get that ability if your mother chooses to allow you to have that ability." She added. "There are always upsides towards whom you have as your godly parent." She told the girl.

"I would name them but then.. it would take forever because of the numbers of gods and goddesses." Naeun said.
[G] Angel Lorette 11 years ago
@[G] Kim Dani Naeun, who seemed to be absorbed in her book had been listening to all that the girl had been saying. "Beauty Queens...Divas.." It suddenly clicked in her mind that this girl, was a daughter of Aphrodite though she seemed more to a child of Hades from the way she was so cold but then again, not all children of Hades were cold. At the thought of one of the child of Hades she was acquainted with, she smiled softly. She was surprised when the other girl had said that she preferred being an unclaimed demigod. Now that, the female had a different way of thinking. Just like Naeun though their personalities were the exact opposite. She stood up from her chair and walked over to the girl, plopping down gently on the chair opposite of the cold girl's.

"You seem different from the other Aphrodite kids." Naeun said, aware that the girl was awake. "Most of those Aphrodite kids are actually glad their godly parent is well, Lady Aphrodite." She continued. "You seem to hate that fact to the brim. Why?" She asked curiously.
[G] Angel Lorette 11 years ago
@[G] Kim Dani Naeun blinked when the girl snapped at her. She knew it was her fault for dropping the book on her but asking her why she was at the library was like asking her why she was breathing or sleeping. "Do you think the library is yours or something?" She asked with a raised eyebrow. "Anyone can come here. Furthermore, the curfew has long past so what are you doing here?" She added. "Don't you have your own cabin to go back to?" She continued. "Unless..you're an unclaimed demigod but then, you still have the Hermes cabin to go to." She muttered to herself.

"Anyhow, I have to get back to my research." She told her and opened up the book once more before walking to a vacant table and sat down before reading about the Clazmonian Sow. Sure she might not face them anytime soon but she wanted to know about them for emergencies. After all, there were possibilities.

However as she read, she kept thinking about the girl she had accidentally dropped her book on and how she hadn't seem familiar. 'Perhaps she's a new camper..but..looking at how rude she was.. I hope she doesn't treat a god or goddess that way otherwise she would get turned into something terrible..' She told herself in her mind.
[G] Angel Lorette 11 years ago
@[G] Kim Dani With the urge of researching more about the monsters she might face in the future, Naeun walked into the library to do some research. As she searched for books, she found one which could most probably be the one book she was searching for. Pulling it out by the spine, she glanced at the brown book which had no titles whatsoever. Curious, she opened the book to find that it was all about monsters. That one book she was searching for.

Glad that she had finally found the book, Naeun began researching as she walked towards a vacant table. However as she walked past a sleeping figure, the book slipped out of her hands falling onto the person's head. Naeun herself, winced when the book fell onto the head with a thump. It almost felt as if she could feel the pain herself.

"I'm so sorry!" She apologized to the other girl as she picked up the book which had fallen onto the floor. Silently, she cursed her clumsiness as she dusted the book lightly.

@[G] Kim Sunggyu Jinri let out a small laugh and linked her arm through his, like siblings would do. "Lead the way!" she lightly pushed him towards the doors.

[ Yeah I guess ^^ ]
[R] Stephen Krause 11 years ago
@[G] Choi Jinri So he actually suggested the right thing. Sunggyu could only chuckle looking at how quick Jinri's expression changed.

Following the girl, he stood up and gave her a small shrug, the grin not really leaving his face.

"Why not?"

He /certainly/ was out of practice, so why not, anyways?

[ Should we move there now? ]
[G] Juliet Cressida 11 years ago
@[G] Kim Sunggyu The moment she heard 'lava' and 'earthquake', a grin set on her face.

That was the type of thing she was hoping for. Eagerly, she nodded at the man. "I would love to climb that!" excitement filled her voice. It sounded completely thrilling. She stood up, practically jumping from all the giddiness. Yup, that wall sure did appeal to her.

"Can we go right now?" she looked down at him.
[R] Stephen Krause 11 years ago
@[G] Choi Jinri Adrenaline rush? Okay, if it's that word involved, then Sunggyu only has one answer.

"If a climbing wall complete with lava and earthquake mode counts as something challenging for you, then yes, I guess?" He gave her a small grin, slightly challenging, though slightly unnerved as well. He might or might not have raced anyone to the top, but well... the result would be the last thing on his list to worry about.

The first? The lava that would burn them alive if they weren't careful - or agile - enough.
[G] Juliet Cressida 11 years ago
@[G] Kim Sunggyu "Hm..."

Many things had come to mind when he said that, though she doubted any of them would be "doable" at camp -- well scratch that. What she was thinking could be "doable", if they weren't at camp (for example, causing a soda explosion; that probably wouldn't swing by Chiron well). Yeah, that was definitely out. Pulling a /few/ tricks and pranks was pretty exciting, and she has yet to pull one here at camp... No that wouldn't work either; Sunggyu didn't exactly strike her as the pranking type.

"Well, anything here that will give me an adrenaline rush?" she added on. "Something challenging?" surely they had to have something of that description; this camp trained demigods to fight monsters after all! Maybe they would have some kind of simulation or something, that would be fun.
[R] Stephen Krause 11 years ago
@[G] Choi Jinri Sunggyu's smile never really faded, not even until Jinri matched his position. That move, in fact, only made him grin. Honestly, he'd done explaining too; there was not really much he could tell her regarding the other camp, and he wasn't sure he could tell her much about anything else, either. At least, not while his memory wasn't coming back.

"Hmm..." He hummed in thought, again staring blankly into space. A lot of things here in the camp was exciting. What's exciting for /her/, though, was the question here, and he wasn't sure his guesses were near to the truth. And so, he decided to just ask – gave her a bit of a challenge.

"Give me a description of exciting according to you, then."
[G] Juliet Cressida 11 years ago
@[G] Kim Sunggyu Jinri let out the breath she was holding.

He was smiling. A smile was good. And now that he was smiling, she wanted him to stay that way. After that what just happened, she didn't feel like learning anymore; it was horrible feeling guilty, she was done with all that learning. (Well she also just wanted to get out of the cramped library, but the other reason seemed more important). She glanced down at the open book, she could learn more about everything at a later time. Now it was time to do something fun.

She pushed her seat back and raised her arms up stretching. "I think I've done enough learning today." she lowered her arms and leaned forward so that she was right next to him. "Is there anything /exciting/ to do?"
[R] Stephen Krause 11 years ago
@[G] Choi Jinri Sunggyu blinked.

He /is/?

In all truth - and he simply never really lied given whose son he was - even if he was a cabin councilor, he could be seen as a newbie himself, aside of his evident battle experiences which would show itself on archery trainings and CTF.

Regardless of the fact that he had been staying in this camp for 11 summers.

"Son of Ap--" A soft chuckle escaped his lips as his eyes went back to her frame. Apollo and apologize...

...funnily rhymes. Had she not been claimed, he'd probably think she was his sister.

"Aigoo," he could only say in the end, shaking his head with a defeated smile. "Well, yes... I rest my case."
[G] Juliet Cressida 11 years ago
@[G] Kim Sunggyu "Oh."

Two words had come to mind when he had said that: that .

And now she felt horrible. It wasn't that she felt sorry for him, but that she had asked all these questions. Clearly, he wasn't able to answer, yet she asked anyways. She couldn't imagine being in his shoes: helping out a newbie that asks all these questions, but not being able to answer because of amnesia. She felt even worse when he turned away and apologized.

"You are helping!" she searched for the words that would (hopefully) lighten the mood. "I know you're a son of Apollo, but you don't have to /apolo/gize!" a nervous chuckle came from . Well that couldn't had sounded any lamer, she thought, the urge to slap herself was high.

[R] Stephen Krause 11 years ago
@[G] Choi Jinri Actually, the answer was simple.

And Sunggyu only stared back at the demigoddess in silent contemplation before he answered the question.

"...Because I don't."

He didn't /seem/ to remember anything because he really didn't remember.

"I don't know why I don't remember, either." He sighed, averting his gaze away. It suddenly made him feel... vulnerable, admitting to this.

And taking a deep breath, he steeled himself once more.

"So... sorry if I can't help you much."
[G] Juliet Cressida 11 years ago
@[G] Kim Sunggyu Jinri cringed, hesitantly she put her hand on his shoulder. "You okay?" the regret of asking was starting to come to her. As he answered her other question she took her hand off and nodded. All the Roman related stuff stopped here; she would have to ask someone else for that information.

All her questions were pushed back, new ones took their spot. Holding back her questions had already failed, she might as well continuing being rude. Someday her curiosity would get her killed. "Is there like, a reason why you don't seem to," she paused, trying to ask this the right way. "remember anything?"

Jinri stared at the man, waiting for an answer. She probably should have added on something about how he didn't have to answer if he wasn't comfortable, but she /wanted/ him to answer.
[R] Stephen Krause 11 years ago
@[G] Choi Jinri Where the Romans go... purple and gold...

"Camp J— argh." Sunggyu hissed, wincing in pain once more at the sharp jabbing inside his head. "I don't know— I can't seem to recall the name anymore." He shook his head, taking a deep breath. This was definitely and seriously annoying. He would get the hint sometimes, but it always escaped him in the end.

"Why would we be separated..."

A pause followed as he thought hard — this one, luckily, didn't bar his mind from entering the heavily-locked-down vault of the things he knew.

"...I think it has something to do with Athena."
[G] Juliet Cressida 11 years ago
@[G] Kim Sunggyu Obviously, the topic had hit some kind of sore spot. None of this was to get too personal, it was suppose to be for her own benefit, her own knowledge. He was helping her learn more about the Gods, the camp, and even her father. Yes, she wanted to ask him what exactly was wrong with him. And yes, she definitely wanted to ask where the Romans went -- she just felt so out of the loop. But, since Sunggyu didn't seem to like it, she would drop the subject. It wouldn't be right for her to ask him to teach her about things he wasn't comfortable with, no matter how curious she was; besides, it's not like asking more about it would help her, he seemed... she didn't know how to describe it, lost maybe?

Well whatever his problem is, it wasn't her business. Even if she really, really wanted to know. Okay, she really wanted to know. Like really badly.

Even after that whole thought on how she /shouldn't/ ask him about anything that he didn't seem to want to say, she did anyway. "Do you have any idea where they go?" then she quickly added on, "And why would we be separated?"
[R] Stephen Krause 11 years ago
@[G] Choi Jinri ...if only he remembered. But alas, only Dionysus could tell him the truth now - or maybe his father, Apollo himself.

"Yeah. Yeah, I'm okay." Sunggyu managed a weak smile as he took a deep breath. This was getting pretty annoying, but he couldn't do anything about it – his memory was taken by a god after all - and so he only shook it away.

"I'm not sure... I don't think they attend this camp."
[G] Juliet Cressida 11 years ago
@[G] Kim Sunggyu Jinri didn't really understand how UPS and OPS could be the same thing, but nodded like she did. Besides, he had said that was all he knew of the place. Maybe sometime she could... she didn't even know, send a package to Hermes? Yeah, I would /definitely/ do that, she thought.

Seeing him wince, she frowned. "Are you okay?" Bringing up Roman siblings seemed to hit something in him. It made her curious, very curious. But she bit her tongue to keep her from asking any personal questions, this was strictly learning. Still, the way he reacted by wincing like it physically hurt him, it kind of troubled her.

Her eyes went down to her lap. The way he answered her question about Roman siblings, it made her feel like he was... holding back? But again she didn't question it. "Okay, so would they come here, to Camp Half-Blood?"
[R] Stephen Krause 11 years ago
@[G] Choi Jinri "Wait, I'm not sure if this is right, but UPS is OPS." Sunggyu shrugged a bit. "That's all I know about the place though."

Roman counterpart. It felt as if he was missing something, too... a connection...

Roman siblings?

Wincing slightly, he shook his head; there it went again, the jabbing pain in his head whenever he thought too hard of what it was that he missed.

"I think..." A soft hiss followed this. "...Yeah, I think it /is/ possible..."

He /met/ her Roman sibling, the son of Mercury, five years ago.
[G] Juliet Cressida 11 years ago
@[G] Kim Sunggyu "Oh."

Jinri felt stupid all over again. Hermes Delivery? The name made her cringe, it was so bland. Couldn't someone have come up with a better name? Well whatever, she thought. OPS? O for Olympus? Another new thing to add to the list. "Uh... I've only heard of UPS."

A short breathe came out from her nose, it was something mixed between a scoff and chuckle. Of course they have Roman counterparts, as if learning the Greek side of things wasn't hard enough. "Mercury huh?" she placed her elbow onto the table and leaned into her hand. "Like the planet?" a sudden thought occurred to her. "Is it possible for me to have, um, Roman siblings?"
[R] Stephen Krause 11 years ago
@[G] Choi Jinri "I mean Hermes Delivery, actually." Sunggyu glanced at the demigoddess with a smile. "I said his 'name'. But UPS..."

Now what did he know about that name? There was something to it...

"Isn't it OPS? O for Olympus?"

He knew, because his mother had gone to the place several times after he was put in the camp. He only went home for the briefest of time, and it was then that he actually heard about his father from her own mother's lips.

But alas, now he knows no longer why he knew of the name...

"And yeah... the gods has Roman counterparts."
[G] Juliet Cressida 11 years ago
@[G] Kim Sunggyu "UPS."

How did she not figure that out before? It should have been completely obvious after she learned about Hermes, with the belt coming from UPS. She knew it was a weapon, it even had the caduceus on it. Yet she wasn't able to figure it out until Sunggyu had mentioned it.

Now she really felt stupid.

But... her dad had actually given her something? She pushed the thought aside, she was /learning/ right now.

"Counterpart?" she looked back up to him; did the Gods have split personality or something?
[R] Stephen Krause 11 years ago
@[G] Choi Jinri Hermes.

"Messenger of the gods," Sunggyu muttered, folding his arms on the table and made it a resting place for his chin. He stared blankly at the shelves in front of him.

"His name is used for one of the largest delivery service in the world..."

No, he did not know how he knew of the fact. He had gotten used to his sudden knowledge, though, after experiencing it a lot of times. It probably has something to do with his own loss of memory.

"Also the counterpart of Mercury..."
