@Robert S. ℬ∤ "Trust me, it might fill up that empty crevix in your soul for a whole night but then you'll wake up still feeling empty the next morning.." she gave him a gentle smile as she shook her head. Klaus was also a big part of her lonely childhood since he was always the quirky, eccentric and carefree brother amongst the siblings. Although Dad had told the others to focus more on their training and powers instead of helping and supporting Kat through her isolation, Klaus never cared about the rules and had always cheered Katherine up whenever she's feeling down. But when everyone left, including him, she had closed herself from anybody that tried to get close to her, even Klaus.
She chuckled and waved both of her hands, "No worries. But promise me, after this, get help. Alright?" She nodded and looked him dead in the eyes. Kat snickered when he said he wanted to treat her with the money that she just gave him. "Your treat, or my treat? I treated you to some money for your liquor and you're gonna give me a treat with the treat that I just treated you to?" She joked around. "Alright how about this, I'll go out with you, but, you have to promise me, you'll really, I mean REALLY try to stay sober and commit to it." She walked back towards him and held his hand. "Would you be okay with that? I promise I'll be with you throughout all that."
@Katherine L. ℬ∤ “But it IS worth it,” Klaus said as if he hadn’t been paying attention to the rest of her reasoning, even if she clearly had a point. He’d been lectured for his immoral choices way too many times by now for the words to really reach through the thick barrier of denial he surrounded himself with to avoid accountability for his actions. His mouth was wide open as if he wanted to continue his defense, but he stopped himself when she reached out to cup his face and he swallowed his words with his pride. Her words were as sweet as ever, tricking him to smile through his distress. Katherine had always held a special place in his heart being one of the favorites through the bunch of siblings he’d grown up with.
“Thank you, thank you, thank you!” Klaus breathed out at last when she offered him the money he thought he needed. He wrapped his fingers around the money, hugging it tightly and kissed the closed fist before looking up, watching Kat leave. A sense of guilt filled him, replacing the happiness of receiving what he’d gotten back to the mansion to get and he clumsily stepped over the trophies on the floor, the metal rattling against the wooden floor, to stop her from leaving. “Hey Kat, wait up.We should hang out instead, maybe eat some lunch. My treat?” He held up the palm in which she’d placed the money, hoping she would catch up on his offer. She was always there for him when he needed and he rarely showed up around the house in other cases. So he wanted to spend some time with her to show gratitude. Klaus hadn’t even been counting the money, therefore not sure if he would be able to afford lunch for them both but, in the worst case scenario, he would have to give up the idea of a lunch time drink.
@Robert S. ℬ∤ "Borrowing huh?" Katherine gave him a skeptical smile; nodding as her head tilts once more. "Klaus.." she sighed deeply and took a single step towards her brother. "If you wanna get benefits, be beneficial. All that dirty stuff you're consuming, it's not gonna help. All these awards, they ALL ARE rewards. A symbol that, well, YOU GUYS, had succeed in saving the civilians, don't sell it out for something that's not worth it." She put the trophy back onto it's original place. "It's our family heirloom, although, I never felt like I was a part of this family anyways." Kat glanced at the latter; giving him a sad smile.
She turned to face him, cupping his face, she said. "You're my brother and I don't want to see my brother make the same mistakes he kept on doing again and again, this time." She ran her hand on his arm before holding his palm in both of her hands; putting in a bunch of change into it. "This is the last time. Don't tell anyone I gave you the money." She whispered and gave him a simple kiss on the cheek before walking away.
@Katherine L. ℬ∤ Klaus raised his hands to his temples, pulling the hands down along the cheeks in a distressed motion to cover up the fact that he had indeed forgotten about their mother’s tidiness and his excuse wouldn’t cover up his actions. “Okay… right…” He said thoughtfully, weightening his options with the little patience he had left and the growing need to numb his abstinence. “I was not intending to steal anything, merely borrowing.” His eyes wandered from the glittering trophies to his sister, his lips suddenly turning into a lazy attempt of a convincing smile and he motioned toward the shelves with a big, dramatic motion of his arm, almost knocking over more of the awards by the sweeping motion. “We should all get a piece of the reward of our hard work, don’t you think Kat? Shouldn’t all members of this marvelous family share benefits like the beautiful union we all created under the dictatorship of our dear papa? I do also need money.” His hand landed over the bare chest his messily ed shirt couldn’t cover as if to highlight this whole speech with some teatrical empathy, neglecting the fact his honest words about the money was not a fitting addition.
@Robert S. ℬ∤ "Hmm?" she raised her eyebrows and showed suspicion in her tone; folding her arms, she tilted her head and asked. "Really? Cause Mom literally just feather-dusted this whole room yesterday. I helped her polish that trophy you were holding too. But, of course! Of course you weren't stealing, you were just being the ever nice brother that you are to the family." She took a step forward towards the male. She shrugged as she listened to his questioned before answering. "You know.. Dad doesn't let me get out, he's afraid I'll meddle with the well-being of the nature and ecosystem, scared that I might mess things out. PLUS, I was walking around to check if there might be any THIEVES moping around one of these rooms." Katherine emphasized on the 'thieves' part. When she heard the soft clatter of trophies and medals under her, her eyes immediately diverted to look at where the noise was coming from and again her eyebrow raised and she glanced at her brother. "Klaus?!!" she raised her voice at him in disbelief upon seeing the clutter of awards sprawled on the mahogany floor.
@Katherine L. ℬ∤ The sudden voice coming from the direction of the door startled the man in the midst of his scavenger hunt and he managed to inhale deeply before he turned in the direction of the voice, his hands held in the arms as if the person was holding an invisible gun pointed at him. “Kitty Kat!” His voice were high pitched and soaked in bewilderment, hinting that her presence was not as appreciated as usual.
Klaus looked at the trophy in his hand as if it was a new discovery that his fingers were tightly wrapped around it in fear of losing hold of it. His eyes wandered from the award to the woman in front of him and then back again, a small grin spreading across his lips. “Ah, you're hurting my emotions, of course I’m not stealing...” He said while emphasising every word in an attempt to sound convincing. “I was cleaning up this mess, can you believe someone would leave it like this? Not on my watch!” It took him a whole lot of effort to stretch out his arm again and place his beloved treasure on its place once more, his whole body begging for him to submit to his needs and leave the room with whatever he could carry. He cleared his throat and casually tried to push aside the items laying on the floor with his foot, hoping that she wouldn't notice the obvious mess which he had no intent of cleaning up. "The question is, what are you doing here when it's such a beautiful day outside?"
@Robert S. ℬ∤ Katherine was just strolling around the hallways, soaking in the sunlight from the glass doors of the house when she heard the clanking of things which seem like it was coming from the awards room. Fear that it might be a burglar, she got herself ready behind a wall; trying to summon her not-so-strong powers. Heck, the last time she had used her powers were years ago so she wasn't really sure if it was going to work this time.
Quietly, she peeked into the room when she noticed a familiar figure, slender, tattooed and dark haired and she realized that it was none other than her own brother, Klaus. "Klaus?! What are you doing here?" She stepped into the room, head tilting and tone full of confusion. Then she realized, there was a trophy in his hand; everything pieced into one in her head and she blurted out. "Are you stealing? From your own family?!"
@Katherine L. ℬ∤ Tiny pearls of sweat decorated Klaus’ temples and his hands were shaking when he searched through the shelves of past achievements for something of enough value to sell, but with as little of importance that nobody would miss enough to make a fuss about if was no longer to be found inside of the impressive building. He needed money and he needed it fast, withdrawal kicking in from last night when he had promised nobody in particular that it would be the last bottle of cheap whiskey he ever opened, just like he had promised himself many times before, results always being the same.
A few rewards landed on the floor when unsteady hands were roaming around, knocking them over by accident, alas, it did not stop him from shuffling the awards around some more until he finally reached something that would look like it could afford him at least a couple of beverages if he was lucky enough. He held the trophy in his palm and pulled it inches from his face to give it a good look before he pressed his lips against its cold surface and gave it a victorious kiss. It was the perfect loot or so he had thought. As soon as he was about to walk out the room, his eyes landed upon another of the treasures, making him linger for yet a bit longer at the “crime scene”.
