Diner

@Tyler B. "I don't joke about these things, buddy," she responded, indignantly crossing her arms and staring right back during his fruitless attempt at indimidating her. And she would have continued to stand her ground, had it not looked so bad from the outside looking in. She scoffed instead and followed after him, jogging a little at first to keep up with his longer strides. His question, though, flummoxed her and she briefly stopped in her tracks. "Oh, god- you can't really be that dense," she said, after an increadulous laugh escaped her before. She continued walking and used a hand to gesture to herself from top to bottom. "In case you happen to be blind, I'm not exactly a diner crowd's favorite flavor of ice cream. I can't blend in even if I wanted to." As she mumbled the last sentence, she subconsciously walked a little closer to him, just for some security.

@Tyler B. When the desired response wasn't achieved immediately, Sakura barely resisted an eyeroll and tapped a little more aggressively while staring straight at him. When it looked like she'd gotten his attention again, she gestured for him to come out because there was absolutely no way she was stepping food in the diner with a sign that clearly should have read 'hi, we're racist' instead of the usual.

He finally came out and Sakura breathed a sigh of relief before straightening herself to look a little more first-meeting appropriate. His tone irked her, causing her to lightly click her tongue before she held out her hand. "Sakura," she introduced before lightly waving her briefcase. "I'm your partner and.." she trailed off, noticing a few nasty glances she was recieving from passersby. "And we need to talk somewhere else. Literally anywhere else."

@Tyler B. Sticking to the shadows, Sakura decided, was her best option if she had any chance in finding probably the only ally she had in these times. This, of course, made the search much more difficult and made it take a lot longer. She'd long since abandoned her stupid heels, the little things dangled in her hand along with her suitcase, and spent the better part of a few hours, ducking in and out of alleyways and waiting for the occassional gaggles of scrawny but undoubtedly angry white men to pass by before she could make her way to the next hiding spot. It was like the world's worse stealth game and she really wished she was actually at home, playing one.

Just when she decided that she was fully fed up with the one-sided game of hide-and-seek, she spotted him in the dingy window of a crumbling diner. Maybe it was the relief but he definitely had a sort of halo-like spotlight centered only on him. After checking that the coast was clear, Sakura scurried across the street and tapped on the window to get his attention. At the same time, her gaze was shifty, her eyes peeled as she made sure she wouldn't get bombarded with her guard down.

@Tyler B. "I still can't believe this ," Sakura muttered to herself as she walked the streets of the, thankfully, minority neighborhood that she'd been dropped into. In the corner of her eye, she caught sight of the movie marquee with 'Now Playing: Otto Preminger's Carmen Jones' in bold black letters and, flanking each of the entrances, were a couple of very dated looking movie posters. There was no changing the fact that she'd been sent to the fifties, but that didn't diminish her annoyance.

"Why can't people just cause time trouble in the 22nd century," she grumbled, while resisting the urge to kick off the atrocious kitten heels she'd recieved, along with a terrible dress, from an older lady who was happy to help sans questions. She continued walking with her eyes peeled for the face of her new partner. The buildings had begun to change in quality, little by little, and she had a feeling she'd end up in the bad areas before catching any sign of him.
