how to catch 'em all

how to catch 'em all!

Pokemon are available in multiple wild rooms where different ones can be caught. These wild pokemon are ranked into three tiers signifying how rare an appearance is, from common to uncommon to rare.
A wild encounter begins when the admin character "a wild pokemon appears!" tags all Trainers in the room, states the pokemon that appeared.
The likelihood of pokemon appearing goes up the more trainers appear in the same room. An uncommon appearance is guarranteed when five or more trainers appear, and a rare appearance is guarranteed when more than ten appear. Other than trainer-stimulated encounters, there will be 1-3 alerts a day sent out from the professor warning trainers of possible herds in a room, to which trainers have an hour to respond in order to have the ability to catch the pokemon. Weekly, there will be a chance to catch a legendary or Gigantamax pokemon in a raid invitation sent by the professor.

Now the good stuff: How to Catch a Pokemon
1. First and foremost, the trainer must have pokeballs available to use. If they do not, trainers are advised to conduct research from a distance. There are opportunities with friendlier pokemon to befriend them into your party.
2. There is no battling wild pokemon as per the Professor's request, so throwing pokeballs and/or befriending pokemon are the only way to obtain one in a wild encounter. There are four balls available for purchase, with increasing rates of capture with each level up. It starts with pokeball, where landing a 2 or 5 means caught, a great ball where landing evens means caught, ultra ball where landing odds and 6 mean caught, and master ball which has a 100% catch rate.
3. After each throw, the trainer must wait for the wild pokemon to signal its capture or its break-out. A pokemon is considered "caught" when the moderator, "a wild pokemon appears" declares a capture and transfers the pokemon's data to your character description.
