I want to register to battle, but researching moves and abilities is too complicated. Can I have some help?
Yes! Here is a link to the site I use as a reference. Something to note for moves is that they must be learned, level-up moves. In order to have a TM move, you must buy it from the shop. My tip is to search your pokemon in the search bar and scroll down to"Learnset" and focus on the table that specifies, "by leveling up." For example, let's say I have a level 24 pikachu I want to register for battle. On the left hand side of the chart you can find the level at which a specific  move is learned. For a level 24 pikachu I'd choose Nuzzle, Electro Ball, Spark and Sweet Kiss. If it's all too confusing, send the Professor a PM and he will recommend a set of moves.
I accumulate points very fast, how do I keep my pokemon up to date on their most current level?
My recommendation is to spend the day gathering points or "training," and then tag the Professor in the Training hub to secure your points. We make the trainer's keep score because it would be too complicated for admins to watch everyone's pokemon accordingly.
How do I befriend a pokemon?
If you are out of pokeballs and can't afford them at the moment, or just want to be able to befriend a pokemon, here it is. When the moderator, "a wild pokemon appears!" appears in the room, they become a roleplayable character momentarily. Roleplayers may interact in any way they please with the wild pokemon, whether that be conducting research or catching. Befriending pokemon depends on the species and their approachability, and it is ultimately at the trainer's discretion how to levy with an encounter. For example, say "a wild pokemon appeared!" to the Professor and he spotted an Eevee he'd like to befriend. The professor would then sit in the field, observing the pokemon, offer it poffins or puffs, or rally his own pokemon to extend a friendly hand. Befriend pokemon won't always go right however, it should be noted. Some pokemon have notoriously mischievous attitudes, or are just terratorial. For example, the professor would advise against befriending a Haunter, or a very territorial pokemon like Onix. Everything and anything is possible I should say! And there are no limits (other than malevolent actions,) on what the trainer can do when a pokemon appears. Just remember! The pokemon on Folescence are timid and scared of humans, so they may run away or act up on the fly!
Why does everything cost money here? And why aren't there more things in the shop?
To keep 'gameplay' as streamlined and equal as possible, it is geared around encouraging roleplayers to have threads to accumulate points. And because everything costs points, it is super easy to get them -- no rooms have points disabled. As far as the shop goes, the items within rotate on an every few days basis. The one constant item will be the pokeballs. If a trainer needs a certain item, they may request such from the Professor before the next incoming shipment. Based on availability, it may or may not show up.
Do I have to be a collector? Do I have to battle? What exactly can I do here?
You can be anything you want that's possible in the pokemon world. If catching them all's not your pace, think of the many ways you can integrate your character on the island. Perhaps you have a helpful pokemon and take up serving food in the messhall. Maybe you're a Nurse Joy apprentice and are the first to establish a pokecenter on the island! The choice is yours, and you can do nearly anything, nothing short of city building. If you really wanted to, you can wait on all your pokeballs until the first legendary raid occurs. Or, your character can believe that catching these wild pokemon is not the way to go, and you become the friendly island guru to the wild pokemon.
How do I find items in the wild areas?
This is still a writing-based roleplay, so the more you write in a specific room, the more likely Rotom will Ping to signify that an item is in the vicinity. If the room and trainer remain active, Rotom will signal the item's capture and add the item to the trainer's profile.
What's the Rotom component used for?
The Rotom is used as a communication device from the Professor, as well as a detection device, and its first and foremost function of being a pokemon encyclopedia. To use Rotom at any time, tag 'Rotom' to ask a question. For example if a pokemon appears and you want to know what it is, ask Rotom. Rotom will also Ping active trainers in rooms when a pokemon or a special item is nearby, as well as send alerts when a pokemon is spotted in another room.
How does this roleplay's storyline move along?
The admins will be reading over threads and activities, and using the roleplayers own personal storylines to help get it moving. For example, if the Lighthouse worker has a plot with the Astrophysicist about spotting Giratina from a wormhole, the admins may introduced Giratina as the next 'raid boss.' Another example is, say, one trainer is searching for evolution stones, the moderator will watch for activity to simulate an item encounter with Rotom. Example number three could be the Pokemon Naturalist discovering the hatching of Butterfree, and when reported to the Professor can stimulate other trainers to appear to catch and observe said Butterfree rituals. The limits are endless.
Eggs? How do I hatch them?
Eggs cannot be found in the wild but are frequently gifted from the Professor. An egg hatched after 500pts are accumulated after the trainer received said egg. It is up to the trainer to tag the admins in the evolution room when they accumulate points in order to confirm the hatch. When an egg hatches it's at level 5.
