⊹ ✾ hyewon’s apt

@? ⋮ ❛ k. hyewon｡ he doesn’t laugh at her joke, but there’s the hint of amusement shown in the quirk of his brow when he nods. a twinkle in his eyes when he makes a vague gesture with his hand, shrugging one of his shoulders like ‘obviously’. hanbin eats in relative silence, content with a meal that wasn’t spiked with protein powder for once and rather he opts for listening while she tells him about her plans for them. at one of her comments he stops chewing and bows his head to look down at the shirt he wore, “there’s nothing wrong with my clothes,” his eyebrows pinched as he elaborated, “i buy them big like this on purpose.” and yeah, maybe the clothes drowned him now more than they did before, he’s lost weight since coming to yeongwon, but hanbin would still claim it’s a fashion choice.

hanbin drummed his fingers on the wooden table. once, twice. before he curled them into a loose fist, sighing. “we could go visit them, sure.” since coming back he hasn’t nearly gone to see them as much as he should’ve. but there’s only so much pity one person can take before they start to resent it. hanbin skillfully avoids her eyes as he gets to his feet, gathering their plates to bring with him into the kitchen. “no, i don’t really have anything i’d like to do,” comes the answer to her question before he slips away, hoping to avoid further confrontation as he starts on the dishes.

@ꕤ ⋮ ❛ k. hanbin｡ the muttering under his breath doesn't go unnoticed and her head whips to look up at the male with an eyebrow quirked upwards as if to see if he's actually challenging her, although the eyebrow falls and makes way for a smug grin etching onto her face when she notices his shirt is indeed on. sometimes hyewon wonders why he tries to refute in the first place when they both know he can't say no to her anyways.

she digs into her own sandwich, the smile still playing on her roseate tiers and only further widening at his compliment. "i know," she replies coyly, "it's because i put my love into it." it's a corny line, sure, but that's the way she joked and he knew it too. she wasn't lying, either; food always tasted better with company. "we do," she confirms with a nod of her head, pausing until she finishes chewing. "um, a lot." it's a vague answer, yes, but they both knew she was just going to have him follow her around town like she always did on her days off. "we have to buy groceries to stock the fridge and buy some more clothes for you since you use the sizes as an excuse to never wear them. maybe visit your grandparents too! you know they always miss you. and... and... don't you have things you want to do?"

@? ⋮ ❛ k. hyewon｡ there’s the resemblance of a smile curling around the edges of hanbin’s full lips when he pours coffee into the mug, stirring enough milk into it that the beverage turns a light brownish colour. for he wasn’t much of a coffee drinker in theory, just found it oddly comforting to wrap his fingers around the warm porcelain holding the drink in the mornings. a surge of something akin to homesickness makes itself known in the pit of his stomach when hyewon mentions the bakery back in seoul, and he peers at the sandwiches, for they do look like the perfect copy of his favorite breakfast order. “ah,” the male hums again, hip resting against the counter as he brings the mug up to his lips for a sip.

scoffing he rolls his eyes behind her back, muttering a “but it’s warm” under his breath, yet he slips the t-shirt over his head without any further complaints. it’s two numbers too big and he tugs on the collar until it fits nicely over muscular shoulders, sighing as he shuffles after her to the dining area.

hanbin sinks down into the seat opposite of his best friend and smiles in her direction, thanking her for the meal and the sandwich does taste like the one back home. unsurprisingly it does taste even better, and he tells her as much. “we do?” his eyebrows pinch together, but he’s already resigned to the idea of her dragging him around town or whatever else she might have in mind. he couldn’t exactly justify spending yet another day just lounging in bed. “like what?”

@ꕤ ⋮ ❛ k. hanbin｡ "good morning bini," comes hyewon's immediate response, her tone nothing but cheerful and upbeat as if scheduled like clockwork. the girl's focus, however, is clearly not on the said male and instead on the plate in front of her. a mistake, clearly, because she underestimates his distance from her and stiffens in place when his hand makes contact with her skin. it's been a few weeks since he'd first returned, but she's still not used to his casual skinship as seen by the way the tips of her ears turn red.

"can't you tell? they're egg drop sandwiches! like the ones from the bakery across from your place, although i've added a special ingredient to them." she's finalizing the finishing touches as she speaks, putting down the bottle of sriracha mayo onto the counter after she's done drizzling the sauce onto said sandwiches. satisfied with her work, hyewon grabs the two plates and turns around, skillfully wriggling her way out of the tiny kitchen and trying her best to avoid looking at her best friend's bare chest.

"aiyah, how many times do i have to remind you to put a shirt on?" her nose scrunches as she asks, her own sign of disapproval when coupled with the way her eyebrows furrow together. after setting down the plates, she settles into her own seat in the dining table and gestures for him to do so as well. "eat up! we have a lot to do today!"

@? ⋮ ❛ k. hyewon｡ the phone lay abandoned by the edge of the sink as hanbin cups his hands under the chilled spray of water and bathes his face, ignoring the incoming call that lights up the screen. each vibration moves the device a little closer to falling off towards the floor, and he sort of wouldn’t mind that much if it did. he doesn’t really have to answer to know that it’s seunggu, his corner man since a few years back, calling just to let him know that he’s an idiot. again. and hanbin doesn’t necessarily want to burn every last one of his bridges by picking up only to tell the man to go to hell, for a second time.

with a heavy sigh past his lips the male reaches for a towel, the fabric soft and comforting against the pads of rough fingertips, dabbing it against his face while peering at himself in the mirror. the day had only just gotten started and he’s already got three missed calls glaring back at him, so he chokes the annoyance down by swiping the device from the counter and swiftly turning it off.

it’s only moments later that hanbin emerges from the bathroom in just a pair of gray sweatpants riding low on his hips. feet padding against cold floorboards and with a t-shirt slung over his bare shoulder as he follows the scent of freshly brewed coffee and something that much sweeter that he now recognizes as hyewon’s body lotion, or something like that, either way it’s nice.

“morning,” he hums softly into the room and like always hanbin’s steps are silent against the wooden floor, light on his feet as he moves about the kitchen. stepping up behind the younger where she stands by the counter; one hand brushing over the small of her back in passing while he reaches up to retrieve a mug for himself from the shelf above her head, “whatcha making there?"
