@☆ ┈ jason todd！ the sun shone through the gaps in decaying leaves still grasping onto their last days on a drying branch. the air rightfully crisp and the atmosphere subsequently brisk. 'classes,' she thinks to herself, 'the first day,' watching students shift between buildings, either with leisure or panic. some, she notices, dawdle on benches or grass scattered in patches on the campus. she has walked this route so often that the blueprint has become ingrained in her memory. a habit taken and amplified since her past in days long gone of a photographic memory. however, she much preferred this. allowing herself to explore, to breathe, to exist - to embrace rather than consume and compartmentalize. this slower existence took time - and is still taking time - to get used to, but this is the mundanity for which she had always yearned.

although not yet a student herself, concerns or questions were never raised when she strolled around the open campus grounds. ungated and unhidden from the public, it was with ease that she could take these pleasant walks. but she is certain someone will come to recognize her soon, or at least raise suspicion about a woman unmarked and unnamed except in appearance, roaming around unsupervised. and so she counts her days until such a confrontation occurs. until she, too, can join the hoard of masses mobilizing from one end of the map to the other. or loitering under the sun like a cat unfurling from its nap.

lost in her reverie, she loses sight of her surroundings and knocks shoulders with an incoming body. she is shoved to the side with a bitten-back grunt and nearly stumbles if not catching herself in the last moment. an apology raises to her tongue but dies back in when her eyes lift to meet her run-in. without thought or preamble, she whispers, "jason todd."
