@❛ ? ：sab z。 the waves lap gently at the shore, leaving traces of foam right where wonbin's shoes had sunk half an inch into the wet sand beneath him.

it was a perfect day to start on one of his commissions—a simple, peaceful seascape with a few puffy clouds lining the horizon. nothing out of the ordinary, and nothing too difficult either.

he'd slipped under the shade of a low hanging palm tree, his portable easel already set up and secured into place with a few heavy stones. brushes and paints of mismatched brands sit messily inside the bag right beside him, stained in a rainbow of colors from constant use. he hadn't thought to bring much today, just several shades of blues, greens, and a white to finish off the sky. less is better, they say. but wonbin knows it's just laziness on his part.

not wanting to dwell on his obvious lack of energy, however, wonbin sighed and finally picked up a brush, twirling it between his fingers as he reached for his palette. he shuts his right eye closed and watched as the color immediately drained from his vision, leaving nothing but values, almost as if he'd applied a grayscale filter over everything in his vicinity. he switches to his other eye, the vibrant colors of the sea before him returning in all its turquoise glory.

perhaps this injury of his wasn't the worst thing that's ever happened to him.

with a good vision of where his lights and darks should go, wonbin wordlessly swipes over his canvas in relaxed brushstrokes, laying down an underpainting before anything else.

he works silently as he does, accompanied by nothing but the sound of the wind blowing past his ears, the crashing waves on the shore, and—someone yelling in the distance?
