@Amber Naeun chuckled slightly as she watched the girl finish her red velvet cupcake so quickly, and she waited in anticipation for her reaction to the tiramisu. Honestly, the tiramisu was Naeun's absolute favorite thing on the cafe's entire menu - it was even better than their Iced Americano, the drink she got every single time she came. "Try try, it's mindblowing~" Naeun sang as she laughed softly and nodded towards the cake.
@♕ naeun The short-haired girl nodded in response. "This is amazing," she said after she downed the cupcake with her frappe. Before long, she had polished off the red velvet cupcake and hummed in satisfaction as she placed the tiramisu in front of her. She ended up just staring at it for a good minute before cautiously taking a bite out of it. If she had thought the red velvet cupcake was good, then this was simply amazing.
@Amber Naeun nodded with enthusiasm, not wanting the girl to waste her cupcake and tiramisu on her, a girl who had already had them multiple times. She then watched the girl eat her cupcake giddily, excited because she was anticipating her reaction. Hopefully she would like it. Well, after all, the majority of people did. Naeun clapped cheerfully when she noticed how much the girl enjoyed it and grinned. "Isn't it amazing?" she asked somewhat rhetorically.
@♕ naeun Amber furrowed her brow, but nodded without protest. It wasn't as though she could force the other girl to eat a cake. "Alright if you say so," she said uncertainty before digging into the food. She tackled the red velvet cupcake first and was pleasantly surprised at how good it tasted. It was moist and just...delicious. There was no other word to describe it. She continued to eat the cupcake, taking occasional sips from her second cup of frappe.
@Amber Naeun was slightly taken aback by the girl's offer, and it clearly showed on her countenance. With two blinks of the eye, she spoke. "No, it's fine, I don't want either one. It's your first time here, and I've already tried these before. You should have them both," she said with a smile as she shook her head firmly. Naeun couldn't help but feel really thankful that the girl was so kind and giving - especially since they had only met. It made her happy with her timing in coming to the cafe that day.
@♕ naeun When her order was finally ready, Amber flashed the guy the brightest smile she could manage and thanked him before hurrying back to her seat. She took out the cakes carefully and looked up at Naeun. "Which one do you want?" she asked, gesturing at the tiramisu and the red velvet cupcake. Considering how the girl had given her the tip, Amber wanted to treat the girl, even if she's had it before. The smell was enticing, and it was all she could do to keep from salivating.
@Amber Naeun did her best to stifle her reaction when she saw the girl hop back and forth in the line out of excitement, but it was futile. She covered as she let out a soft laugh, watching the girl with interest and hoping that she hadn't heard. She was definitely something, Naeun thought to herself as she shook her head in amusement and wondered if she had ever been the same way. When she had first come to the café? It definitely seemed plausible, but now? She was pretty sure that she had changed.
@♕ naeun She hopped on one foot then the other as she waited for her turn to order. The tomboy was definitely anxious to get her red velvet cupcake, tiramisu, and her second cup of caramel frappe. When it was finally her turn, she happily made her order and paid before going to the side to wait for her order to get ready. She watched as the two cakes were taken out of the display and the coffee was being made. This, she decided, was the life. Her friends jokingly called her a pig at times, but she didn't really mind considering how large her appetite was.
@Amber Naeun nodded at the girl's reply and was about to look towards the line again to see how the workers were doing, but she stopped herself upon seeing the girl's reaction. Naeun slowly but surely broke into a wide smile and let out a light chuckle. It was always interesting to see what food - or sweets, rather - did to people. "I'll be waiting," Naeun said with a small hint of amusement playing in her voice as she took her cup and tossed it towards the trash can, holding her breath as it sailed through the air and letting out a sigh of relief when she heard the swoosh of the cup landing inside the bag. "You got lucky, Son Naeun," she murmured to herself as the corner of her lip turned up slightly.
@♕ naeun "Yes I am, aren't I?" she replied a little thoughtfully. She tilted her head at the other girl, but her eyes widened at the tip. She loved red velvet, but she loved tiramisu even more. Grinning at the tip, she pushed her chair back and began to walk towards the shortening line. "I'll be back," she promised, already anticipating the cakes as well as another caramel frappe. Thank the heavens she almost never gained weight from her excessive eating.
@Amber "Oh, that's cool! So you're almost 2 years older than me," Naeun said, pairing her response with a childish grin and an excited nod. She noticed the girl look over at the line, and Naeun stole a quick glance as well. The line had shortened quickly - or maybe Naeun had just gotten caught up in her conversation with the other girl. "Hey, if you want to know, the red velvet cupcake and the tiramisu are the best," Naeun said with a tone of hushed confidentiality albeit more jokingly than seriously.
[ otl doing some last minute reading for school tomorrow sorry ;; ]
@♕ naeun So the other girl was nineteen...that made her a year, or maybe two years younger than her. Interesting. With a grin, Amber replied, "I'm 20, but I'll be 21 soon." She finished off the rest of her frappe and peeked at the line. It was slowly starting to disappear, the employee's weary faces reflecting their relief at the sight, and she contemplated getting another drink and maybe a dessert to go with it. The frappe hadn't been enough to satisfy her craving, and if anything, made her want even more. But she held off the craving for a while longer as she turned back to the girl sitting in front of her.
@Amber Naeun's eyes found themselves settling on the other girl once again upon hearing her question. Her eyes lit up slightly in relief that there was something else they could talk about. Awkward silences were some of the things Naeun just absolutely could not stand at all, but she was sure that she wasn't the only one who felt that way. "I'm 19, what about you?" she asked with a smile, studying the other girl's features to try and see if she could get an estimate of how old Amber was. Naeun wasn't sure if her brain was failing her or not, but it seemed that the other girl was younger.
@♕ naeun "Yeah, very possibly," Amber replied, her grin widening before they fell back into silence. The tomboy continued to sip at her caramel frappe, slightly surprised that it was still cold, considering how long she left it out. It tasted delicious, and if it weren't for the still amazingly long line, the short-haired girl would've already went back to order a small cake or some other delectable baked good. "So, Naeun, how old are you?" she asked randomly, more to break the silence than anything. Although, she was curious if the other girl was older or younger, because at this point, the tomboy really wanted to adopt her as a younger sister.
@Amber "That's nice to know. Maybe we'll get to see each other sometime." Naeun gave her a cheery shrug as her lips curved upward into a wide smile, the thought of getting to see Amber again making her rather excited. She didn't know what it was about the other girl, but Naeun liked talking to her. She really did. With nothing else she wanted to say, she leaned back in her seat once again and looked around. The line was still as long as ever, and the workers seemed to be slightly falling behind on the orders. Naeun frowned a little in sympathy for them, but her attention didn't linger there for very long.
@♕ naeun The tomboy's lips quirked into a small smile at the other's response-and the action that came with it. Either she was imagining things, or Naeun was just simply awkward. But it wasn't like it mattered considering how Amber's conversations with strangers generally went rather awkwardly as well. At least this girl wasn't saying about her different...style yet. Still, it wasn't as though the tomboy could say anything to /that/ response. She couldn't think of a suitable response. Shrugging at the question, Amber grinned and replied, "Oh definitely. This place is too good to pass up. And well, my friends seem to come here quite a bit as well, so I might drop by with them as well."
@Amber "Do I come here a lot?" Naeun echoed, the girl's question making her let out a small laugh. Saying that she came to the cafe a lot would be such an understatement, but she decided to make it short and simple. She didn't know the girl very well after all, and she didn't want to say anything that could make the atmosphere awkward and kill the conversation off. "Yeah, I guess you could say that." Naeun offered a small smile and nodded absentmindedly as she took her empty coffee cup into her hand and played around with it, having nothing else she could really do. "From what you said before, I'm assuming you'll be coming at least somewhat often as well?" Naeun asked as she raised an eyebrow at the girl. The thought made her wonder if they could possibly grow to become closer friends - assuming the girl actually did decide to come more often.
[ right, but this reply of mine has no quality or quantity otl i'm sorry ;; ]
@♕ naeun "Ah, I see," she said softly, instinctively turning her head to the counter and grinning at the sight of the never-ending line. Amber returned the gesture with a slight incline of her head, a small smile lingering on the corner of the lips. The other girl was entertaining to be around, and Amber wondered for a moment if she could take her in as a sister if they ended up as close friends. "So, Naeun, do you come here a lot?" the short haired girl asked curiously. Judging by the other's previous words, Amber assumed that Naeun came to the cafe frequently. After all, saying that she would possibly see her often implied that she frequented the cafe often. Amber found the prospect of having a cafe buddy rather interesting, and she was getting excited at the mere idea of it. Before she could get too carried away, however, she calmed herself down and continued to sip at her frappe.
[[it's all good OTL. quality over quantity, right? /shot]]
@Amber "Oh, sorry, Mr. Kim is the owner of the cafe," Naeun said as she let her head fall slightly to the side, looking at the other girl curiously and noticing the way she studied the place. She was no mind reader, but she could at least tell that the girl didn't have any negative impressions about the place. And once again, she felt a certain pride emitting from within her. Naeun chuckled at the way she phrased her response. "I was about to stomp off." 'Stomp off' was rather... Harsh, if Naeun was using her words right. "That's good then. Maybe I'll see you around often," she said with a smile. "I'm Son Naeun, and the pleasure is all mine," Naeun chuckled as she bowed her head slightly, a polite gesture but also a more casual one in her book as well. She looked at the girl once again and smiled wider, getting a hopeful feeling that they could become good friends.
[ otl just progressively getting shorter and .. shorter LMAO. ]
@♕ naeun "Mr. Kim?" Amber nodded slowly as she absentmindedly ran a finger along the rim of her cup. The girl looked at her surroundings, taking in a lot more now that she wasn't looking for a seat. There was a rather cozy and warm feel to it, making one feel welcomed. Nodding with a small laugh, the androgynous girl replied, turning back to the girl in front of her, "It is. I was about to stomp off, but now that I've had a taste of this...I don't think I could ever /not/ come back here again." She took another sip of her frappe, already halfway done with the rather additive drink. Wanting to break the awkward tension around them, Amber said, "I'm Amber Liu. Pleasure to meet you." Introducing oneself didn't hurt, and it was a good way to actually start a conversation and make those in the vicinity more at ease. At least, that's what the tomboy believed after all her experiences with friendship.
@Amber "Mr. Kim never disappoints," Naeun mused aloud with a light laugh, a small smile dancing upon her lips with enthusiasm. She liked watching the girl enjoy the coffee so much - it made her feel somewhat proud, but it was pride for the owner and his work with maintaining his cafe's quality that everybody loved and admired. One could say that Naeun found the owner to be like a second father of sorts, always looking after her and making sure she was alright. She was extremely fond of him and the care that he gave her, and this was partially the reason for why she liked to stay at the cafe for such long hours even though he was busy most of the time. She didn’t mind the fact that he didn’t have much time to chat; the little conversations they had in between busy moments were more than enjoyable for Naeun. "It's definitely worth the wait sometimes, hmm?" Naeun spoke with a warm smile, her eyes settling on the other girl's for a moment before finding themselves locked on her coffee cup once again. She lifted it up to her lips and then downed the rest of her drink, feeling a slight emptiness inside when she finished it off.
[ it's fine, i'm just .. continuing to mirror you lol. ]
@♕ naeun "Thank you," she said smoothly as she sat down, hiding her amusement at the girl's...eccentricity, one could say. Still, Amber was grateful for the conversation starter, though she had to admit it was just a bit awkward. The corners of her lips pulling up into a minuscule smile as she replied, "Indeed it was. They said it was good, but no one ever mentioned how long the line was." She shook her head and took her first tentative sip of her frappe. The moment it hit , the short haired girl felt as though she fell into coffee heaven. It was sweet, but it wasn't overtly sweet. It covered both her need for something sugary as well as something with a distinct taste of coffee. It was a good blend, and Amber took another, longer sip. "Mmmm, this is really good," she said almost to herself as she examined the beverage in her hands. Whip cream was sprayed on top and caramel crisscrossed the top, making it delicious /and/ pretty to look at. Satisfied with her drink, Amber made a silent vow to come here as often as she could and took another drought of her drink.
[[im so sorry, my replies are getting shorter and shorter otl]]
@Amber Naeun looked up immediately when she heard somebody talking to her - rather, she thought she heard somebody talking to her. She almost jumped in her seat when she saw that it was the girl she had been awkwardly observing earlier, but she did her best to mask all emotion, knowing that it would probably seem suspicious if she showed even the slightest hint of surprise. "No, nobody's sitting here!" Naeun said cheerily as she flashed the girl a smile, nodding towards the seat to gesture for her to sit. "It must have been a pain waiting in that line, huh?" There was a light chuckle from her side, but that was it. Honestly, on the inside, Naeun wanted to facepalm herself for the horrible attempt at a conversation starter, but once again, she hid all of it behind her passive face. She didn’t want to creep the girl out any more than she probably already had – if the girl had caught her staring earlier, that is. With nothing else to say, Naeun smoothed out the crinkles in her shirt that had formed as a result of sitting in her chair for the amount of time that she had, not so much because she wanted to make her shirt look better but more because she wanted to have something to do without it feeling extremely awkward.
@♕ naeun The line moved along, slowly but surely. The short haired girl slipped her phone safely into her back pocket as she waited for the three in front of her to make their orders. She tapped her foot impatiently, the idea of wandering around and exploring already washed out of her mind. If anything, she was just going to sit at the cafe and sip at her coffee until she got kicked out when the place closed for the night. Shaking her head, she moved up to make her order of a caramel frappe, craving something sweet. She moved away to wait for her order and let the next person order. As she waited, she scanned the cafe for an empty seat. She examined the room carefully, looking for an open chair to sit on before finding one across from a rather pretty female. Then again, there were a lot of people around, and it was almost depressing how her androgynous looks stuck out like a sore thumb. Still, she collected her beverage and wormed her way to the seat she had just saw, and asked rather tentatively, "Is anyone sitting here?" She gestured towards the chair, hoping no one was sitting there. Inside the cafe, there was air conditioning, and it seemed amazing, and she had no wish to leave just yet.
@Amber Naeun's attention was suddenly directed towards a seemingly tomboyish girl in the long line to order, and she scrunched her eyebrows together slightly as her eyes narrowed in an attempt to focus better. For some reason, the girl looked familiar. The way her hair fell down around her face reminded Naeun of somebody she had met before, but there was one jarring difference - her eyes. Naeun wondered if it could possibly be anybody she knew, but she didn't dare think too much of it. It would be extremely awkward if the girl was a complete stranger, so Naeun decided to avert her eyes before the girl caught her staring. Naeun let her gaze fall on her cup of coffee once again, hoping to forget about the girl she saw in the line, but she completely and utterly failed. She frowned slightly as she stole another quick glance, burning the image into her mind so she wouldn't have to look again. "Wow, never imagined the day you would turn into a complete stalker, Son Naeun," she muttered softly as she tried to come up with any idea of where she might have seen the girl before. She traced circles on the table as she thought, but after a good five minutes, she finally gave up. With a slight huff, she took a long drink of her coffee and then let the cup drop back to the table, rattling a little as it settled. She watched the bustling scenery of the cafe unfold in front of her, getting more and more hectic as the orders continued to pile in. Naeun wondered what it was like to have a job in such a place as she observed one of the cashiers running to the back so she could give the orders to the people who were in charge of brewing the coffee, knowing that she probably wouldn't be able to live down more than a day of it.
[ so um we should probably have amber and naeun
interact somehow because we'll eventually run out
of things to ramble about since major para-ing orz. ]
@♕ naeun Try it, they said. It's delicious and heavenly, they said. The best coffee you could ever try, they said. Unfortunately, what her friends had failed to tell her was that one had to wait an extremely long time for one's order. It wasn't even that. One had to stand in line for an extremely lengthy time. Amber had gotten into the cafe about 15 minutes ago, and the line didn't seem to have moved at all. At least, not to the impatient tomboy. She had been planning to get her coffee and wander around. But no, she was now stuck here as she waited for her turn to order. The thought of waiting of her coffee even longer left a pit of dread in her. Still, it wasn't as though she would pass off good coffee, and considering her friends recommended it, it should be really good. A reluctant smile tugged her lips upward when she heard someone, whom she deduced was the owner, yelling commands at the harried workers. Suddenly, she felt rather sympathetic for them. It was a busy day, and they were rushing to get orders ready, and here she was, complaining about just standing there. Then again, it wasn't as though simply standing in line was fun either. She was /bored/, and she didn't know how much longer she could last in line. At least the line was starting to move along, even if it was at a snail's pace, she thought ruefully as she almost crashed into the person in front of her. With a small sigh, she whipped out her phone and scrolled to find a decent game to play and pass the time. It seemed there would be a while yet until it would be her turn. But she was already anticipating her beverage, with the warm aroma of coffee filling the cafe. The smell was strong, but not overbearing, and Amber decided she could stay there forever if just for the smell. With a shake of her head, she returned her attention to her phone as she continued to search for games, and answered some texts.
There was nothing in the world that could have ruined Son Naeun's day with the perfect weather outside and the comfort that came with sitting inside the cafe down the street from her apartment. It was a small little building, nothing quite extravagant, but it was homey and a nice place for her to spend her dead time. Naeun smiled to herself slightly as she took a small sip of her Iced Americano, looking around the cafe for something that would keep her occupied so she wouldn't have to just sit there idly. It was a rather busy day for the cafe - there were several customers at the counter in a line Naeun would never want to get in. All for good reason though. The place was notorious for its expertise in taste and originality in design, and the result was a good number of people who loved to get their coffee here. Taking a small breath, Naeun inhaled the calming vanilla scent that floated around in the room, and all the muscles in her body immediately relaxed. She heard the owner shout some commands to the workers, and she chuckled a little to herself. “Don’t tire yourself out already. The day’s not even close to being over.” Her voice came soft and quiet as it usually did, which Naeun found to be a major disadvantage, but he heard. He always heard. He gave her a smile and nodded. “No need to worry about me, Ms. Son,” he called out as he waved her off playfully, earning himself a light laugh from the other side. Always the same, she thought as she set her drink on the counter and rested her hands on her lap, leaning back slightly in her chair and wondering how long she would stay that day.
Key will be leaving. I'm super inactive and it's not fair for me to be here and do nothing. Thank you for the fun times here and I may be back again someday~ <3
