Secondary gender spots will be limited to even out the ratio so not everyone will be an alpha or an omega, betas need love too.
- Alphas: They are the hunters of the cult, Top of the hierarchy. Can have multiple omegas as mates. Can get omegas (and betas, but they need hormone supplements to be able to do that) pregnant, can experience ruts during the moon cycle and have very potent for mating. During their ruts, an Alpha can mark and knot their Omega to cement their eternal bond with their mate. they gather the food for the village. Very skilled hunters get promoted to soldiers of the cult and live in the nicer part of the village close to the high priest.
- Betas: They are the scholars of the cult and take care of the finances and academics of the villages, the smarter the beta the higher of their own hierarchy they are. A high scholar is chosen every year to live in the main house and take care of the village’s finances. Second to the alphas but still holds a lot of power over the omegas. Cannot get pregnant by alphas unless they take a hormone supplement but can impregnate Omegas. Their is not as potent as alphas so there is a low chance of having pups when mating with a beta.
- Omega: Strong bodied omegas are valued highly and are usually sent to the main house in the village for the high priest to use for breeding. If an omega is in excellent health they are tested before being presented to the high priest. although they hold a very powerful role to the society, They are at the bottom of the social hierarchy. Although they can live independently without a mate, it is heavily frowned upon and there is some prejudice against mateless omega.
coming of age
the coming of age ceremony is a sacred practice in which a child finds out their second gender through a seer once they turn 18. this determines their role in the cult and thus teaching them the traditions of the cult that will stay with them until their last breath.
heat/moon cycles
Moon cycles occur every month. During this time, Omegas experience their heat. Their pheromones are stronger so it can attract alphas. During the cycle you are very likely to fall pregnant so choose your partner wisely.
mating
Mating is serious business, when you mate you must bite your Omega (usually the best place to bite them is where they’re most sensitive i.e. neck, lower back, inner thigh, etc.) hard enough to draw some blood. You must taste the blood of your omega to seal the bond.
