Maki was lifelessly lying down on her bed, wearing the same shapeless white hospital dress that she and the other patients wore everyday ever since the church took over the authority of taking care of the asylum. She was blankly staring at the dirty white ceiling, the eerie silence of the room penetrating her ears, but she didn't mind it. It was better than hearing painful loud screams from the bed beside hers.

She was sure that there should be two more people in the room with her but it's been days now and the girl still didn't felt her roommates' presence. Where they could have been now, she has no clue. Maybe they died already or got shut into solitary confinement, who knows. The patients aren't the only one who's twisted in that asylum.

Anyway, she would have at least wanted to say hi to them or see their faces before misfortune befall upon them. Being alone in a room that's suppose to be for three people made Maki felt a bit lonely and that's when the Bible on the left side end of her bed caught her eyes. She sat up to pull it closer to her and tried to read the first pages of the chapter she chose.

It wasn't long before she got fed up with the book's content. "Nothing on this makes sense..." Maki blurted out with a straight emotionless face then ripped off the pages of the Bible and folding them into paper airplanes, paper cranes, and the like. A faint smile crept on her lips as she remembered how her 'brother' taught her how to do origami. She sent the paper airplanes flying across the room and landed without precision so it scattered around the floor. Oblivious that someone was watching her, she ripped more pages from the holy book with much joy and played with it as if it were useless scratch papers.
