/hoseok thought he’d like the sweet gestures you did in addition to making it clear you didn’t want him ually. He thought he would feel relieved. He thought. But suddenly he felt...insulted? Like the one man he allows for him to be done away with suddenly doesn’t want anything to do with him? Even the way you pulled his clothes back around his body, it was scarring him as he tried not to dig his fingernails into his hand with how hard he was balling his hands up in fists/

/before you can walk out, still sitting on the floor, he snaps sharply/ I’m not a kid sir. If I’m not attractive enough to go to bed with, just say it! /he says glaring as he turned his face to the side to not meet your eyes as the tips of his ears turned red. This time in both embarrassment and shame but also anger at you. At himself for not reading the room carefully/

Sungkyu turned around abruptly at the younger words and then he sighed deeply as he meet with the younger glare. Anger.

"Hoseokkie " he called as he walked closer towards the younger. He stretch his hand and lift the younger face up gently.

"I apologize. It wasn't my intention to insult or humiliate you in any way. You are by no means a kid. And I'm aware of that. You are beautiful and attractive young man. And I'll be honoured if you happen to want to be bedded by me. But I don't want it to be out of gratitude for things that I done for you. I want it to be because you want me to. Do you understand? It doesn't mean I don't want you. I just don't want it to be out of obligation. Because you owe me nothing, Hoseokkie." He murmurs it carefully before leaning in and kissed the corner of the younger lips softly.

"Please finish your meal and meet me outside, okay?"

His frown turned even deeper as he saw the younger reaction toward his words also his action. He put down the chopstick altogether and look at the younger eyes directly; he feel the immediate need to clear things toward the younger before everything went downhill and couldn't be salvaged anymore.

"I don't need the ual gratitude." He said firmly. "Do I like you? Yes, you are a nice and kind person also likeable, why wouldn't I like you? But, Hoseokkie, you owe me nothing."

He let out a deep breath as he stared at the younger again before standing up and walk toward the younger. "You are beautiful and precious, Hoseokkie. You don't have to pay me back for anything because I have done nothing." He said while slowly and gently wrapped the garment back into the younger body. He caress the younger face gently before leaning in and kissed Hoseok forehead.

"Finish your meal, Hoseokkie, then meet me outside." He muttered; smiling gently while patting the younger head then turned around. But instead of sitting back, he went outside.

/hoseok just looked at the man across from him as he ate his food. It was peculiar and with his own narrow minded set caused by his lack of contact with the outside world, he thought he already /knew/ why you were being nice to him. Afterall, the only person who was nice to him was...that man. But he still lets you talk, knowing it was all just "formalities" and "manners" as the man would say. He remained unpeturbed when you said you had no motive though his lips parted slightly at the rest of what you said/

/then he snorted wondering sarcastically how fierce and brave he must be to you considering the first thing he did when he met you was cower in fear. But in his twisted mind, it made sense why you're complimenting him when, to him, he clearly wasn't being fierce or brave. But when you stare into his eyes like that, he feels his stomach squirm, blinking at how forward you were being. But unlike that other, he doesn't know why but he kinda /liked/ the attention?/

/he stopped chewing on his food and hums nodding/ that's nough reason for me 't least... /then his disposition completely changed as his eyes grow unmistakenly fragile/

/his voice turned into a soft pitched fragile like he could break if you even just held him/ ..so....so you like m...me...? /he asks before gently leaving his bowl he was eating then pulling off the easily unwrappable garment's sleeve he had on as a peasant. He pulled it off, letting it slip off his shoulder, revealing a slightly tanned but shiny yellowy skin. His almost feminine frame sloped down and his arms revealed to be less muscular than his personality was before looking at you with almost seemingly desperate eyes as he bit his lower lip/...Like me enough to let me pay you back for your kindness sir?

He chew on his food while looking at the younger; brow furrowed in deep thought. Trying to answer the younger question with his best all the while still curious as to what make the younger change in attitude.

"Hm, now that you ask like that, I don't think I even have one." He mumbled while rubbing his chin; A habit he got when he was thinking deeply about something. Forgetting that he was eating something but still remembered to put another meat into the younger bowl.

"But, if you need a reason, it's just that I somehow see myself in you?" he said as he put another meat into the man bowl. "You are like the younger me, I guess?"

"Fierce and brave despite all the thing that weighing you down." He look at the younger eyes directly. "And I like that." He said and finally eating again after putting another meat into the younger bowl for the nth time.

"Is that enough for a reason?" He asked.

/he didn’t know how much more direct he could be. But it definitely confused him. You were so nice. And all around super helpful. He couldn’t /help/ but think you had some reason for being so attentive to him. Even more than just helping his sister type of attentive too./

Ain’t that so... /he says before his eyes stared at the extra meat you gave him out of nowhere. There was one account where he remembers being treated this nicely by the people who lived in this household. He looked into your eyes with his own sharp ones with a soft nod/ yessir. That motive, please be honest

/he continues to eat with another set of thoughts in his head. He needed to thank and repay this man somehow, too./

The frown on his forehead appeared again at the younger words. Sorry? What's to be sorry about? Why was the younger react that way? More and more questions popped inside his head but he held it in. He think it wasn't appropriate to ask the younger about it.

"Huh? Nothing to be sorry about tho," he said while munching on his food. "You have done nothing wrong." He added as he put another meat into the younger plate.

"Huh?" He asked, bewildered. Motive? He look at the younger trying to gauge something. "What's motive?"

"...."

"Ah~ Do you mean my motive to help you?" He asked the younger to make sure.

/being on guard no matter what was almost like a given reaction for himself but when he stiffened when you called him Hoseok-ah, he suddenly felt bad. What was he doing. Doubting this stranger who’s only been so good to him, even tending to his physical wounds like that while expecting nothing else in return/

I-I’m sorry... /but he wasn’t the type to let people in. And after everything that happened, he lost that inclination to do so. So all he could say was sorry and then continue to eat only to stiffen when you stared back into his eyes and then encouraged him to eat more/...what’s yer motive... /he asks still stiffened as he stares at his now more full plate of food/

He knew something must be happened that make the younger suddenly uncomfortable and restless. But he won't force the younger to tell him about what it was. The younger is free to do as he wishes.

"If you have something to say, just say it, Hoseok-ah." He said softly as he scooped the food into his own plate and start eating; fully aware that the younger was staring at him.

"And eat more. You will need all the energy you can get to help your sister and her baby." He added while putting more meat into the younger plate.

/Everything was going swimmingly until you called him /that/ word. That word. It reminded him so much of his master. The man would always call him that. Kiddo. Despite actually being younger than the master, that specific word had more meanings than one. Don’t get him wrong. He heard the word when you said it before but there was not exactly a trigger with it that would cause him to suddenly react. No, actually you did very well in /making him that much more comfortable./

/But...now there was sadly a trigger. His own panicky state from some sort of pain. He could hear his master’s voice so clearly now. “Be a good kiddo and me to my quarters.” His jaw stiffened, suddenly wanting to show you how much he is not that picture/ sir, I ain’t a kiddo and I darn as well never’ve been /he says in a much serious tone despite his country bumpkin accent. The ruffle helped but still, It was almost like a sudden relationship reset./

/Unmoving, he walked hesitantly to the table and glanced from his eye’s corner at your actions/ y...yessir let’s eat... /and with that he hesitantly sat down in the chair as he bowed but then slowly took a clump of rice, still staring right into your eyes and never leaving them. It was clear he was agitated. He didn’t speak anymore. Just continued to watch you as he ate bite after bite/

He can feel the younger tensing and apprehensive as he slowly and gently treating the man's hand. He smiled and start bandaging the younger hands.

"Relax, kiddo. The balm will help to lessen the pain and your hands will be good again in no time." he persuaded gently. He pats the younger head and ruffles his hair gently after he finished his treatment; trying to make the younger relax.

"Now, lets eat, yeah?" He said while walking the younger to table and motioned him to sit before walking toward the pot and putting the food into the plate.

"Come, Hoseok-ah, eat."

/he admires how poised you were or more like wonders how you can be so calm about everything but he nods avidly with tears threatening to fall from his eyes/ y...yessir... /but when you lead him to the cold water, he hesitates with a shouting/ oh oh! /quickly looking into your eyes for any sign of reassurance you weren’t gonna hurt him, his fake cool self gone in a flash since he was always normally the loud type in anything he did before it was replaced with a colder and hesitant version of him who held all his feelings in/

/Eventually, he relaxes his stiffened hand back in the tub of cold water. When you leave to get the ointment, he quickly looks around before he became all emotion, his face twisting into emotion after emotion. First scared at what happened to his hand, then hesitant to see it, then jumping in surprise when he sees it then scared again as it flinches in the water. When you arrive back, though, he tries to calm his shaking shoulders and nods/ y...yessir /he waits for you to treat him, stealing glances at you as you work while still trying to remain calm like that persons he’d try to assume with his masters when he’s working as a servant/

"Found ya!" He said while grinning and walking back towards the younger. "Now, let's get you treated."

"Hoseok-ah?" He called again. "Let me see it. It must be hurt so much, right? So let me check it. I have some ointments to help relieve the pain."

yes sir~ /he hums as he reaches for the plates, tippy toeing only slightly because he was still closer to an average height. Bringing them, he sets the plates down and without thinking, he directly touches the pot’s handle/ ahhHH! /the handle clatters onto the pot leaving hoseok with a red burning hand. He holds it closely to his chest before blowing on it, tears welling up in his eyes/

/when you returned you could see the tears possibly but you couldn’t see his burned hand since he quickly hid it behind him. He should be used to theses injuries but man...does it hurt. He smiles forcefully/ do you...you have...have orange...juice? /he asks while wincing/

He chuckles at the younger excited behavior; glad that the younger was finally feeling comfortable around him. He smiled at the younger and pointed a bit to the left from the younger.

"That shelve, on the right on the second row." he answered then turned around and walk toward the table.

"I'm going to wipe the table. Can you put the food into the plate and bring it over?" he asked the younger as he grab a wipe clothes and proceeded to wipes the table clean.

Done with the cleaning, he turned around and entering a small room separated from the kitchen before going back with a jug and two glass in hands.

"Hey, Hoseok-ah, do you like juice?"

/He didn’t expect it at all but you definitely caught onto his jumpiness, making him force a chuckle between his lips as he snaps his head at you, trying to figure out a way to make it seem like he wasn’t despite the light pink on the tips of his ears/ who you callin jumpy? I’m not jumpy ahahah~ /he laughs a bit irrationally until eventually, he goes into panic mode, trying to figure out what you could’ve meant by evenly./

/he was very thankful for the clarification but also couldn’t help but feel kinda embarrassed that you noticed that easily. Almost like his emotions and face in general were pretty readable. It yet again made his ears heat up as he nods avidly to appear confident and like it didn’t affect him/ y..yes sir! /the soft and gently ruffle of his hair, though, fortunately, had calmed his tightening self/ o…’kay /he accidentally speaks formally before eventually following your instructions. It was hard to meet your eyes, too/

/the rest of the time, the two continued to cook the food. Hoseok still being a weirdly docile guy and Gyu being a very understanding mentor, slowly figuring out how each other worked until eventually, Hoseok didn’t stutter as much just by a hand, getting used to the gentle nature of the older man while messing up and being encouraged on how to finish the cooking slowly but surely till the food was finally ready to be eaten./

/He grins wider as he blows out the fire before shouting/ Hyung, I’ll get the plates /he runs to the little shelves and searches for a few before asking/ Hey Gyu Hyung? He chuckles at the younger excited behavior; glad that the younger was finally feeling comfortable around him. He smiled at the younger and pointed a bit to the left from the younger.

"That shelve, on the right on the second row." he answered then turned around and walk toward the table.

"I'm going to wipe the table. Can you put the food into the plate and bring it over?" he asked the younger as he grab a wipe clothes and proceeded to wipes the table clean.

Done with the cleaning, he turned around and entering a small room separated from the kitchen before going back with a jug and two glass in hands.

"Hey, Hoseok-ah, do you like juice?"

/He didn’t expect it at all but you definitely caught onto his jumpiness, making him force a chuckle between his lips as he snaps his head at you, trying to figure out a way to make it seem like he wasn’t despite the light pink on the tips of his ears/ who you callin jumpy? I’m not jumpy ahahah~ /he laughs a bit irrationally until eventually, he goes into panic mode, trying to figure out what you could’ve meant by evenly./

/he was very thankful for the clarification but also couldn’t help but feel kinda embarrassed that you noticed that easily. Almost like his emotions and face in general were pretty readable. It yet again made his ears heat up as he nods avidly to appear confident and like it didn’t affect him/ y..yes sir! /the soft and gently ruffle of his hair, though, fortunately, had calmed his tightening self/ o…’kay /he accidentally speaks formally before eventually following your instructions. It was hard to meet your eyes, too/

/the rest of the time, the two continued to cook the food. Hoseok still being a weirdly docile guy and Gyu being a very understanding mentor, slowly figuring out how each other worked until eventually, Hoseok didn’t stutter as much just by a hand, getting used to the gentle nature of the older man while messing up and being encouraged on how to finish the cooking slowly but surely till the food was finally ready to be eaten./

/He grins wider as he blows out the fire before shouting/ Hyung, I’ll get the plates /he runs to the little shelves and searches for a few before asking/ Hey Gyu Hyung? But he wanted to look dependable to you, so he forces a light chuckle/ on it /but it does not sound as enthused as before because of his own confusion. He shakes the container of spices 3 times and pinches the salt container before he hums to himself/ an then… something bout evenly /he nods mumbling to himself, trying to recollect what you said about the word ‘evenly’/

/before he could figure it out, he jumped lightly when you had come back to tell him about the oil before he nodded avidly/ never throw meat and bubbles, got it! /he says kinda stiffly as if not sure what to do next because he forgot the rest of his instructions. But his pride wouldn’t let him ask you so he kinda just stood there fidgeting, glancing from you to the pot/

[hey you wanna time skip this to after the meal is finished? Like, now we get what would happen throughout their meal cooking /nods/

He smiled and pointed at the pan and the spatula that the younger holding. "Stir it for a bit until it mix evenly." He said while patting the younger head; careful to not make him startled again.

"And if you don't understand or forget something, just ask me again. I promise I won't bite." he said jokingly as he ruffles the younger hair gently. "Asking things to make it clear isn't a bad thing and you are doing good. So, don't be afraid."

(I'm okay with both :p Well, I'm not good with detailed cooking actually, because I always cook things my way :p And yeah, we can skip this~)

Hmm welp ur gonna end up wanting to find a name soon bruh *_* it’s getting harder to think of what should Hoseok call Gene, considering your guy’s telling him to call him informally lol XD just think of something that suits him and let it grow on him until u stick with the name, I’d say /nods/ research also helps to know meanings of names too : )

He huffs a deep exhale once he was done before grinning towards you with his heart shaped lips as if saying “Look, I did it, what’s next?” Then he turns to the pot/ do we just mix all this now? /says as he flinches while hesitantly getting the wooden spoon in the pot with a light/ oh-h! /before finally taking a hold of the spoon, ready to mix unless there was something else. He’s not an expert on cooking, so who knows if he understood if he was doing it right/

And in Jeoson era, is what I mean. At that era no gas stove was found. Well, my brain told me a whole sentences yet my fingers left that out orz)

"And there's also another way to check on the oil whether it's on the right temperature or not. One, small bubbles, and another is to put a small slice of meat or onion or something. And never throw in the meat harshly when you cook it in oil, or the oil will splash everywhere or hurts you."

Maybe it was because you had no idea who he was but he felt very relaxed in that fact. So relaxed that he chirped a/ really?

/That’s until he hears your order and gives you a salute/ yes’sir! /he gently lifts the meat into his hands and then brings it to the specified place, his lips lightly at the smell that’s already wafting in the air of the small cabin. But after setting the meat down, he was taken by surprise at your gentle but forward question/

The younger was way better in that aspect than him when he start for the first time. He had butchered the meat beyond recognition and salvation at that time; rewarded him a beating on his behind that make him couldn't sit for a week.

He smiled at the younger cheerfull attitude, noticing that the man starting to get relaxed around him, and for him, that was the most important point.

He laughed at the younger words and ruffles his hair before patting it. "I'm not that old, you know. Just call me Kim from now on, okay?" he said smiling. He stood beside the younger and start giving him the explanation of how to cook the meat.

"Now, after you put that meat on the table for the time being, you check the oil temperature first. To check, you can hold your hand like this, not too close to the oil though." he said while putting his hand slightly above the pan to feel the heat.

"It's ready, now, put the meat slowly inside."

He looked at the man and the meat before smiling again. It's not bad for a first timer.

"It's good. Thank you, kiddo." He answered. He stirr the pot once more before turning and take some clothes pad to move the pot into the table.

"It's not bad for a first timer." He said again while smiling and pets the younger hair again.

"I'm gonna make stir fry from this." He pointed at the meat, "So, help me by bring the meat over there." He added while pointed at the pan that he placed before he get closer to the younger man.

He put a small amount of oil into the pan and readying the seasonings needed near by. He turned towards the young man. "Do you want to try cooking it? I will tell you how."

/he swears he heard some kinda chuckle as he his lips in his determination to cut the meat but he could be wrong. He couldn’t tell since there was a pot making sound as well. Maybe he mistook it for that. Eventually, he finishes and grins at your thank you. But the gentle touch to his head caught him surprise. Widening his eyes slightly, he leaned into the feeling of being cared for. It reminded him of LuLu Hyung’s ruffle. So soft. So safe. Eventually, he was able to snap out of it when you left to dump his butchered meat into the soup./ no sweat! /he grinned once he came back to his senses/

/he watches you as you stir, curious as to the feeling before noticing you come back with more meat. Turning alert like a puppy, he looking to your directions/ kay! /but then when you point to a line, he nods avidly before grinning back at you/ got it! /then delicately he presses the knife down on the meat, scared to cut his own fingers so doing it all carefully. He sticks his tongue out in concentration but luckily because of how much field work he did, he was tough enough. If he wasn’t born as a peasant, his already lean body wouldn’t have had enough upper strength to cut this meat/ done! /he announces with a smile towards you/ how’s it? /his own finished product was average. On the thick parts, they still looked jagged and the bone part didn’t look so cleanly cut as he initially meant it to look like. But all that would be better with time and practice. This is his first time cooking, after all./ this here’s still my first time with all this... /laughs lightly, mentally rubbing his nape since he can’t do it physically with the hands/

I usually do that too, researching name and such like what you mentioned. And I haven't found suitable name yet, so, for now lets call gene with Mr. Kim eue)

He end up stood there watching the younger man cutting meat and chuckle to himself quietly when he saw how the man cutting it. Now, he know that the man was lacked in cooking in general. Well, guess it's time for me to teach him, then. He thought to himself. He smiled gently when the man said that he was finished, opting to focus on the man effort instead of the butchered meat. "Thank you." he said smiling while patting the man head gently. He pick the cutting up meat and went toward the soup and plunged it inside; lucky him that the meat he handed to the man isn't something that was need a proper cut. He stirred the soup for awhile before letting it simmer for a while.

He walk again toward the younger; bringing another meat. Putting it on the table in front of the man, he said, "I plan to make another one so, please cute this into a big square, and thicker than before. And do you see this line? you cut this opposite to the line. Like from here to here because it will be easier to cook. Do you understand, kiddo?"
