@Rin "It's not like it was on purpose. Not all matches are going to be perfect. If all of your pairings were turning out like this, why didn't you say something? You could've terminated right away and no one would've blamed you. At least, I wouldn't have." The meister clenched her hands, nails digging deeply into the palms of her hands. Did she feel bad for the weapon? Absolutely. But it wasn't /her/ fault this happened. It was the school's yet she knew she had indirectly played a part in it. If only she had been a better council member. If only she had acted on her assumptions sooner. If only...too many sentences with those words filled her head to the point of causing a throbbing ache. Stupid overthinking issues.

These were times when she wished her old weapon was back at her side. He was the calm to the raging storm she was. He taught her to think before acting and when to pick her battles. However, to her eventual dismay, he was chosen as Death's current weapon and has hardly left the reaper's side since. A quiet sigh fell from rosy lips, dark eyes following the movements of the weapon. Were they really going to try and get up after what just happened? Had they lost their mind? Do they have a death wish? A coma wish even? 'I show you kindness and you throw it back in my face. I see how it is.' She thought, resisting the sudden urge to roll her eyes. It was one of her unfavorable traits, she supposed. She was patient and kindhearted, sure, but she despised when people caused those things to backfire. It made her spiteful, which made her job that much harder to do.

"Just because everyone else treats you like doesn't mean you should do the same." She growled lowly, bringing herself off the ground and dusting off her shorts. Taking in a deep breath, she followed Rin with slow strides, staying far enough away to give them some space but also staying close enough to be able to catch them if they were to fall over. "Yeah yeah. I'm coming. Keep walking or we're never going to make it." She answered the weapon's questioning expression, eyes scanning the training area one last time to make sure the rest of the students had left.

@Xia "Once is a mistake, twice is a pattern. three times is a habit. any more is a trend. " Rin murmured, eyes dark and voice..resigned, but accepting the apology silently. Maybe it was their fault after all, after losing their first (rather unofficial) meister in such a tragic way that burned itself into their very core, perhaps a part of Rin felt like they didn't deserve a meister. It's their fault that.... Their eyes land on to the transparent male, a sad expression on his translucent face. "Don't do this to yourself, Rin." his soft plea in her ears, only their ears and they wanted to laugh, or cry. Even after death, the ghost knew them inside and out and could read what they were thinking. But they remained silent, shoving the tears of frustration back and inhaled deeply, steeling their nerves.

Rin heard the student council president dismissing everyone else, especially talking to their now former meister. The translucent male, the ghost, Rin's mind whispered. The ghost snarled at the ex-meister, eyes glowing red once again but never going after the perpetrator. During that time, Rin squinted their eyes, trying to refocus their vision and slowly looked up to the student council president. They saw the sympathy, and something within them bubbled with anger. What does this person know? They bit back the words of anger, the words that wanted to spill out. The 'Don't look at me with such pity in your eyes. i am not broken.' but instead settled with gritting their teeth together. Their eyes zeroing on on the extended hands and a harsh grunt from their throat as they pushed themselves back onto their feet, without the assistance of the other. Part of them was simply convinced that if they took her hand, the pain would return tenfold and Rin...rin didn't want that anymore.

"Yeah, whatever." Rin muttered softly, and inhaled deeply, forcing their feet to move. one step, then another. Lifting the back of their wrist up, and wiping the blood off their lips. they could feel unseen hands hovering over their right side, almost like the ghost was trying to make sure they didn't fall over again. But Rin knew that they would just most likely faze through the ghost and fall to the ground again. But what did they know? A hand on the door frame, Rin glanced back and looked at the student council president, a raised eyebrow as if asking if she was coming or not.

@Rin "That's ing bull and you know it. For all you know, maybe /you're/ the defective one, meister. You can't force it if it's not meant to happen." Mary growled, ebony nails digging into her hands. Disobedience she could handle, but disrespect towards another was inexcusable. "You brought nothing but pain to this weapon so I advise you shut up." She added, unable to hide her displeasure towards this particular meister. She soon turned her gaze towards the other pairs in the room. "If I ever see any of you treating each other the way this meister has with his weapon, I will report you to Headmistress Nova and you will be expelled. No excuses." She called out in an authoritative tone, ignoring the throbbing pain in her hands and the sudden temperature change in the room. Did someone turn the A/C on max all of a sudden?

"It's our fault for assuming you two could be a worthy pair. You have my deepest apologies, Rin." Her voice softened in volume, eyes downcast as she nodded in apology. After reading through their files, Mary knew Rin had been through countless meisters over a span of years, unable to find one they could have a full resonance with. At first she believed it was due to a stubborn nature, but even she knew better. If it was meant to happen, it was meant to happen, stubbornness and hatred aside.

"My time wasn't wasted. I'm sorry this has been such a common thing for you." She then muttered, watching the weapon in human form attempt to walk across the room, only to fall into a heap on the ground. A low sigh escaped her lips as she ran over to Rin, sitting down in front of them. "All pairs are released from training for today. You may come back later if you wish. Until then, please focus on getting to know your partner verbally." Eyes fell upon the small group of observers still watching the whole situation go down as she gestured towards them in a 'shoo' motion with her hand. "As for you, meister, go to Headmistress Nova and terminate your contract. Your punishment for today will be determined later. Now leave." She moved her gaze over to the meister from earlier, dark eyes filled with anger for his cruelty and sympathy for Rin's current state.

Swallowing a breath, she looked back at Rin, holding out both of her hands. "Let's get you to the nurse's office and see if we can get you patched up."

@Xia Rin lolled their head to the side, seemingly looking at the newcomer but their eyes landing on the transparent figure next to her. Someone only Rin could see, the transparent male clenched their fingers and Rin could make out the red in their eyes. Before the transparent male could attempt to do anything, Rin felt their body being thrown in anger.

"They're a defective demon weapon! No one should have this much issues finding the right meister! It could have been me! I could have brought you to greatness!" Their attempted meister yelled angrily and Rin felt their body shifting back to their human form, their back slamming into the wall and they fell to the ground with a soft groan. Pain resonated in their body and Rin struggled to get to their feet.

'ILL KILL HIM.' the transparent male roared and only Rin could hear it, they could also hear the fretting coming from the ghost and the gentle hand rubbing their back as blood splattered the ground as they coughed.


Something was wrong with them, something was always wrong with them. Doubts hissed in their ear and Rin faltered, almost giving in to the doubts. "I told you, you can't wield me. You didn't listen. No one listens. Everyone thinks that they are the one who could wield the seemingly unwieldable. I AM NOT DEFECTIVE." Rin Spat out angrily and their voice became louder toward the end, almost screaming at the end, their body remembering how it was when they shifted with their first meister. How right it felt and how perfect they were together.

"Its not my fault you can't wield me. It's never my fault." Rin hissed, baring their teeth dangerously like a predator. Before they bent over and started coughing again, blood staining their lips and the pain beginning to fade away.


"Sorry for wasting your time, president. There is nothing else to see. It's the same thing over and over again." Rin slowly got to their feet and their balance swayed as they tried to leave. But their knees buckled underneath them and they fell onto the ground again, a soft curse on their delicate lips as their vision was blurry and they could see two of everything.

@Rin Mary's eyes soon found what she was looking for as she decided to keep her distance. If she was going to find out how to help, she needed to see what was wrong. With light-footed steps, she made her way around the room, finger-combing her dyed locks into a high ponytail while she did so. The closer she walked to the pair, however, the more intense the situation seemed to become.

What was supposed to be kind words and encouragement became snarky comments and irritation, which puzzled the girl. What was up with them? Her previous weapon hadn't been a cakewalk either, but they managed to sort out their differences. They'd been polar opposites despite being put together and later became stronger because of it. Hell, even platonic love had blossomed between them when no one had imagined they'd make it through in the first place.

It was much to her sorrow when her Death Scythe had been chosen to be Death's next weapon. She was happy, ecstatic even, but having her partner leave almost broke her. Those few months together had changed her perspective on the world and changed her life for the better, only for the cause to be ripped from her hold.

The female meister was torn from her thoughts when she smelled smoke, breaking into a sprint towards the duo, knowing well where it was coming from. "Meister release your weapon immediately." She called out to the other meister. "You're hurting them!" She added, hands raising to shroud . "If you are unable to match wavelengths with a weapon after the first few tries, you need to stop and then contact Nova or Lord Death to break the partnership. All of you were warned that the partnership tests were never meant to be 100% accurate. I thought you all knew better, especially the transfers." And with that, she knelt down in front of the meister holding the weapon she knew to be named Rin.

If the situation had been better, she would've requested the right to attempt a partnership with Rin. Due to what was happening before her, however, she felt that the weapon would be due for some rest and quiet before another partnership could even be discussed.

@Xia Rin crossed their arms as their newest meister partner managed to bring them to one of the training areas. They fought the urge to bare their teeth at the meister, how dare they think themselves so highly that they could be the meister that could handle Rin. 'You will amount to so many great things, dear one.' Their aunt's voice cooed at them and the memory of a delicate hand cradling their cheek ghosted across their skin. Rin knew that it was true, the deepest part of their soul /knew/ but every single meister they were paired with always left Rin in excruciating pain.

"You just have to give me a chance, Rin. We're partners now. Don't you think that we should make an effort to work together?" The meister asked and this is where Rin was always frustrated. Everyone thought that they were making it difficult, that it was /their/ fault. They tried, they tried but every single attempt left them in pain. They tried, and tried, and tried. And now they are sick of it. They're sick of everything. Don't get them wrong, they want a meister so much, they craved it as the clan kept saying that Rin would end up doing so many good things. Rin felt...envious of the meisters and weapons who worked well together. They felt..they felt.... so alienated from everyone...

"What makes you think that you can handle me? No one could handle me. Why did you even think you could have a chance? What makes you so special from all the rest. Give up before you end up crying." Rin ran a hand through their short hair, a cocky grin on their lips and their whole demeanor reeked of confidence. No one could handle them, it wasn't their fault. It was never their fault. Rin repeated in their mind, words that they told everyone else. and at this point? they believed it.

"Just give us a try. Give me a shot, here. I've even asked the Student Council President to help us." Rin felt...exasperated with the pleading, rolling their eyes and stretching their arms above their head, stretching. "Might as well get the point across since you won't listen to me." Rin held their arm out to the meister and when the meister grabbed their hand, a bright light overcame their body. Rin closing their eyes and breathing deeply, bracing themselves for the pain. But no matter how many times they've done this. They never got used to the pain. If anyone bothered to ask what it ever felt like to Rin, rin would always say the same thing. It always felt like they were being cut up into tiny pieces and shoved into something that they did not fit in, and god was it painful. It was always so painful each time.

Their body settling in a katana form, and smoke was coming from the meister's hands where Rin were being held, and in the weapon shape, Rin's lips parted in a soundless scream, refusing to let any sound of pain out. Makeitstopmakeitstopmakeitstoppleasenomore. MAKE IT STOP. The pleads echoing in their mind as their fingers claw at their skin. they had to wait it out and the pain would stop, it always stopped soon. they just needed to hold out until the Meister gave up.

@Rin "I don't know. Okay? I just know that in all the time they've been here, they haven't been able to successfully transform with a single meister they've been paired with. If it was that, I'd know, don't you think?" Lithe fingers carded through carolina blue tresses as Mary let out a noise of exasperation. It wasn't possible, was it? "Yeah yeah. I'll get right on it. They're with a meister right now who's having issues so I'm going to go check it out." She then pressed the end call button on her phone and slumped against her desk within the Student Council office. She'd never heard of a weapon having this many issues after being paired with a meister. Multiple, even.

After hooking her backpack strap around one arm, she slipped her phone into her pocket and then stepped out of the office, locking it upon her departure and heading to the first training area down the hall. After hearing about this weapon the first time, Mary had made a point to research them carefully to figure out why they hadn't managed to find a compatible meister yet. As one of the upperclassmen students and one of the few to already have made a death scythe, she made it her mission to help out the others during the rest of her stay at the DWMA. Upon reaching said training room, she rested her body against the doorframe, arms crossing over her chest as her umber shaded eyes searched for the meister and weapon in question.
