@Xia "No one would have blamed you." the words echoed in Rins ears and a memory flashed into their eyes, a funeral. Family crying. The casket was closed because they could never find the body, rin is standing there. feeling so cold, so alone. people approached whispering condolences to the family and looking at Rin with mixed expressions. it wasn't their fault (it was all their fault.) A family member reaching out and gently holding rin's hand, their mouth moving as they spoke but Rin couldn't hear. It was their fault it was their fault always their fault, they could have. they should have. rins hands beginning to shake, their whole body shaking and still forcing their legs to move. 'Keep moving, Rin. You need to get home' the memory's ghost whispered in their ears and they complied. they complied when needed. Their meister had ideas they found odd, but it always worked out in the end. Of course, it'll work out in the end again, right?
"RIN!" The ghost screamed only into their ears and rin took a shuddering breath, forcing air into their lungs as their legs shook underneath them. "I'm fine. I'm okay. I'm fine." Rin whispered, was it to theirself or to the ghost? Their body wouldn't stop shaking, they kept heaving for air but was it ever enough? would breathing enough ever take the ever present pain in their chest away. Their eyes narrowed and they turned around sharply, internally wincing at the wave of dizziness that hit him and snarled.
"You think I haven't tried? I've been trying! I know not all matches will be perfect! But when a group of meisters all try a single weapon, and that weapon is always in pain when it happens. It's the weapon's fault, because the common factor. IS THE WEAPON. I talked to the professors, they were the first ones who saw what happened to me! It was never enough! I've been talking but no one hears me! No one listens to me because --" Their voice raising as they spoke, anger clear in their tone but a touch of something else was there too, was it desperation? But before they said anymore, Rin snapped their jaw closed and took a sharp inhale.
Because it was always my fault. Because I was the one who was always difficult. Clearly it wasn't the meisters because most of them found partners relatively quickly after partnering up with them. The demons looming over Rin's shoulders, and the ghost clinging onto their arm desperately, almost as if trying to keep Rin grounded, to remind them that they weren't alone.
"Why should I waste my kindness to those who could abuse it." Rin hissed out, dangerously looking like an enraged predator before turning around. "Forget it." Rin bit out forcing all of the sobs bubbling in their chest down. "I can walk the rest of the way myself. Shoo. Go do your, student council president duties." Rin waved the other meister off and began to make their way down the hall, gritting their teeth together with every wave of dizziness and pain that came over them. The faster they leave, the faster they can return to their rooms and the faster they can start to patch themselves back together. "One step at a time, darlin'. what do you want me to do?" The ghost murmured and Rin muttered softly, almost inaudble. "Please, just talk to me."
"i love you. My sweet Rin, so courageous and loved forever. Keep walking" The ghost started and rin's fingers flexed, almost as if they were expecting something in their hand to help them walk. The ghost's voice slowly settled the pain in rin's chest momentarily, and words was pressed against the roof of their mouth, almost about to spill out before a soft "Not here, they don't know." but swallowed back quickly when the ghost spoke.
finally reaching the infirmary, rin slowly slid the door open and peeked inside, not seeing the nurse in. "there are empty beds, rest." the ghost gently pushed rin towards one of the unoccupied beds stood off to the side as rin slowly got in, wincing.
"i need to wait until the nurse comes. my back... i think it's bruised from earlier." rin's eyes trailed down, almost expecting brusies on their arms and cuts littering their body. rin slowly looked up, eyes bleary and trying to not cause more pain, noting the ghost's eyes were glowing red, anger. fury. Rin knew that someone was going to get hurt soon.
and rin? Rin couldn't care less. they just wanted to sleep so they couldn't feel anything anymore. rin heard the door slowly opening and their eyes saw a blurry vision of someone walking into the room before slowly fluttering shut.
