practically out of breath, the boy ran up the stairs towards the main door of the youth center. the school council meeting had grown longer than he had expected -- honestly, who cared about whether the mascot should have an updated costume or not -- and he cursed himself as he finally managed to reach the door, pausing for a moment to catch his breath. from just one glass at the window, he could see just how disheveled and unkempt he looked from the reflection.
normally, he wouldn't pay much attention to his appearance. there were far greater things that mattered in life than looks, but, there was someone who he found himself wanting to impress. he hadn't told a soul, and honestly, he didn't really have anyone to tell such things to, but from the first day of volunteering, his eyes kept wandering towards a certain female. she was good to the kids, hardworking, a true kind soul and he couldn't help but admit that his heart raced a little faster when she was around. without another thought, he pushed open the door and bowed to greet all the staff that were already hard at work.
@mark lee Hannah felt at home at her youth center. It was a place for the youth of Belgate to congregate and spend time together – something Hannah didn’t have when she was growing up. Sometimes she wondered if her life would have turned out differently if she had had a space like this to go to when things got rough. The past didn’t matter, though, because she had built this youth center up from the ground and made it what it was today. Every day of the week, the center saw at least fifty kids come in and out of the doors, whether it be for counseling or just a place to do homework.
The center was known around the community as a place that welcomed people of all races, religions, ualities, gender identities, and more. Just, everyone. There were volunteers from all around the city, which Hannah was thankful for. There were only about four permanent employees of the youth center, including herself, and every volunteer was appreciated. One in particular named Mark was one of her favorites. He was a college student, active in his church, who came often to help out with the kids. Hannah expected him today; she couldn’t help a smile from permanently showing up on her lips as she waited for him to arrive.
@park jimin ♖ Hannah's day had only begun mere hours ago, but the youth center was already hopping with activity. The schools had let out not too long ago, and kids quickly filtered in, all chirping about their days at school or the latest hallway drama. Hearing the different age groups' gossip was always something that brightened Hannah's day; the innocent qualms of elementary schoolers' were her favorites. Her duties at the youth center were pretty manageable – she usually only needed to supervise the after school drop-in hours, and host events every now and again. Today was only drop-in hours, but the center was still busy.
Suddenly, she felt a hand brush against her cardigan. She stopped and pivoted on her foot, a shorter male coming into view from her peripheral. His face was kind – eyes bright and inquisitive. Hannah tried not to look too surprised when she noticed the man had a bright light above his head, perhaps something like a halo, and what looked like wings behind him. She thought back to Jamie, her demon, and wondered if perhaps this man was the opposite – an angel.
"Hello!" Hannah broke her own trance and a smile quickly grew on her lips. She reached out a hand in greeting to the man and continued, "You've come to volunteer, how lovely! You can actually talk with me about that– my name is Hannah Simone. And yours is?"
@hannah simone Jimin was more than sure this was indeed the right building. On his route to find his human, Wooseok, Jimin passed by and saw on the buildings doors a very magenta paper asking for volunteers. Jimin figures while at times he's not guiding his human he can come here and help guide future generations of adults to be less of a jerk. Since he's the Angel of music, he can even help teach those how to play a few notes on the piano. It was a nice way for youths to focus all their energy on and dispell any feelings of anger through the sounds of the keys. He sees the familiar sign on the door, confirming his thoughts as he pulls opens the door to the building.
Everthing is so vibrant, Jimin thought to himself. He notices an array of colorful chairs and tables scatter about in the large room. He sees teens and younger children either on those strange devices or reading a book as well. Jimin walks aimlessly, not knowing where he's headed. He needs to find whoever is in charge of this place and ask if he can volunteer, but he doesn't know who to go to. Jimin makes his way up on one of the stairs, taking in more of the place as he heads into a corridor. There's art work lined up against the wall, it seems to have been drawn by some of the kids. Jimin stops and looks at one the art works on the wall, he thinks it's a bit endearing. He's seen artwork in Heaven, they were beautiful, but they don't compare to the cute prints a child can make.
He's thoughts are soon gone once he notices a woman walking past, she looks like someone who belongs here. Jimin turns to her, reaching out a hand. "Excuse me, who can I talk to about volunteering?"
