yukhei’s mouth falls open. “wait… rice really works?” he always thought putting something wet in a bag of rice was born out of a meme. huh. sunwoo surely knew what he doing!
“i have no pressing assignments to hand in tonight, but i’d like to get my laptop fixed sooner than later,” yukhei replies. he had been watching an episode of hot ones and having an overall successful ‘alone yukhei time’ until his hands betrayed him and dropped his cup of milk tea. yukhei averts his gaze to his other friend, noticing the panic-stricken expression falling over his face. “uhhh, i’m not sure about felix, though…”
sunwoo mentally face palms and sighs. one device having liquid spilled on it was enough, but two? oh boy.. he puts his hands on his hips.
"do you guys need your stuff fixed as soon as possible or can you want until tomorrow? because," he gestures over to the devices laying on the table, "we usually put tablets in rice and the laptop has to dry out for at least 24 hours. if not, i can just open them and do something from there. but we have to go back to my dorm to get some stuff and come back to do the second option."
yukhei doesn't quite know what to do but just stand and stare with wide eyes at the rapid gestures and exchanges between the other two males. at sunwoo's beckoning, he trails after him and listens intently to the quiet freshman's words. relief floods over him at the offer made. "okay! i'll do that right now!"
he takes the seat in front of sunwoo as he follows the instructions given to him before glancing over at felix. at his one word reply, yukhei addresses him. "oh, you spilled liquid on yours too? bro...!"
his eyes widen in surprise as felix pushes the tablet towards him. grabbing it gently out of felix's hands, he turns towards yukhei to answer his question.
"yeah, i do. only for extra credit though. if i do a good enough job here, they might let me work for real." he glances at the tablet and the laptop in yukhei's arms before scanning the room. he begins to walk over to an empty table towards the back and beckons them to follow him.
"i can look at your stuff over here." setting the device on the table, he looks at yukhei to do the same. "if your laptop isn't turned completely off, do that right now and open it as far as you can and leave it on the table so that the screen is facing it."
sunwoo turns his attention to felix. "what happened to your tablet?"
he was about to answer the male, when another familiar voice approached from behind. turning back, he saw what seemed to be his light and saviour. he never forgot the computer science kids. if he was a beneficiary, computer science students were his benefactors of computerly knowledge. "no! don't listen to him. look look, look at this." he wriggled side to side, his face in utter desperation as she shoved his tablet at the freshman's face. "i need this fixed now! please!"
upon hearing approaching footsteps, yukhei turns again only to see a freshman he's been seeing around a lot as of late. not that that was a problem--in fact, yukhei was glad to have so many interactions with sunwoo. he feels as if he needs to protect the younger male.
"hey sunwoo! yeah actually, i spilled some milk tea over my keyboard and my laptop went kinda wonky after that..." he notices sunwoo's hands latching onto the straps of his bag and blinks. "wait, do you work in IT services sunwoo?"
maybe yukhei shouldn't have gone out in his socks and sandals. while they were a classic and comfortable for a quick trip around campus, they did nothing to stabilize him. he lurches forward as soon as the arm wrapped around his shoulder pulls him down to the other person's height, which was unfortunately much shorter than his. yukhei finally glances to his side and immediately brightens when he realizes it's only his favorite little president. "felix! what're you doing here?"
sunwoo yawned as he stretched his arms. sitting at the IT services counter for the past couple of hours had begun to cramp his muscles, not to mention the fact that it was kind of boring, even when it was busy. sunwoo didn't really want to be here, but his professor had baited him with the promise of extra credit if he showed up once or twice a week.
"sunwoo, you can leave now." he nods at his senior and begins to pack up his belongings. he begins make his way out of the room, only to spot two familiar upperclassmen in line. he walks up to them with his hands holding onto his shoulder straps of his bag.
"hello." he bows his head slightly. "are you here to get something fixed?"
"stupid, technology. uggggggh. a book would never do me wrong like this!" felix grumbles, walking into it services with his tablet. he tries shaking the device as if a shake would bring it back to life. this is why you shouldn't test the limits of your technological devices and keep it so close to a pot of water. "should i just throw it in a bag of rice..? why is this line so long!!" grumbling for the hundredth time as his assignment was due in 3 hours. he was usually a patient person, but right now? his marks are on the line. sitting and staring at the wall for 10 hours did him no good. he peers out of the line to get a view of the number of people he needed to wait for and noticed a familiar taller male. "is that.." he stepped out of line and with small steps, ran up to the tall male and swung his arm around the male's shoulder. "yukhei!"
yukhei stares at the rather long line of heads. he didn't think IT services would be so popular this late. he wondered if there were connectivity problems in the moon residence hall tonight. or if everyone somehow manage to find themself in the same situation he was in. scratching at his head, he sighs as he throws himself into the line, hugging his laptop to his chest and hoping it wouldn't be too long a wait.
