@ˢʰᵒᵗᵈʳᵘᵐ k. wonpil “That’s good,” commented Dejun, not saying anymore than that. Dejun chuckled after hearing Wonpil’s answer, nodding. “Fun fact, there’s a fifth intonation but it doesn’t really have a specific intonation. It’s rarely used that sometimes people forget it exists.” He was testing the other with the sudden quiz to see his knowledge of the language. It’s good to know he at least knew the number of intonations in Mandarin. Dejun listened quietly as Wonpil started reading, keeping his face neutral even after hearing obvious mistakes. Finally, he raised his hand up to stop the other before gesturing for him to come closer, circling out a few characters on the lyrics sheet which he knew Wonpil pronounced wrongly and wrote the correct pronunciation. “Okay, continue.”

@ᵛᵒᶜᵃˡ ᶜᵒᵃᶜʰ x. dejun “We do our best to show our fans how much we appreciate them, so I don’t mind the extra work.” Wonpil responded, sheepishly scratching at his cheek and jolting when the sudden quiz-like question was presented to him. His brow furrowed in thought as he hesitantly answered, “Aren’t there four intonations?” If he couldn’t get that right then he must not know the language as well as he thought he did. Taking the papers into his hands, he took a deep breath and slowly started working through the lyrics aloud, nose scrunching whenever something didn’t sound right.

@ˢʰᵒᵗᵈʳᵘᵐ k. wonpil “Ahh, I see,” mused Dejun with a chuckle, nodding his head in understanding. “That’s really sweet.” He listened to Wonpil’s explanation while waiting for him to be seated, humming in acknowledgement before randomly quizzing, “Do you know how many intonation does Mandarin have?” He flopped the music sheets back to the front page before returning it to Wonpil, instructing, “Can you read this over aloud for me, please? I want to hear where you’re messing up.”

@ᵛᵒᶜᵃˡ ᶜᵒᵃᶜʰ x. dejun "Ah possibly. We're still discussing what may or may not be the comeback or b-sides. I was mostly trying to connect with more of our fans by trying to push the language barrier," Wonpil explained softly as a sheepish expression settled over his facial features, suddenly embarrassed by just how bad his song probably was. He did as he was told, though, and grabbed one of the other chairs so he could pull it over near the vocal coach. "I...I can read pretty much all of them, but I keep messing up the pronunciation. It doesn't really sit right on my tongue and sounds awkward."

@ᵗʳᵃᶤᶰᵉᵉ k. jungwoo "Oh, oh dear", he muttered when Jungwoo seemed to be so close to start cartwheeling through the room out of happiness, a soft laugh slipping past his lips ㅡ "You're welcome, thank you for being such a good partner!"
Jungwoo truly was one of the most endearing people he had ever met, and seeing just how excited he got made him so, so happy ㅡ his hard work paid off, he knew that in every little moment like this one itself, when he can put a smile on people's face.
"Mh, it is tasty, believe me ㅡ how about we go back to the dorms together?", he offered, pushing the door handle down. "Uhm", he huffed as it didn't move a single bit, then he turned to look back at Jungwoo with a rather blank expression, "... it's locked."

his cheekbones gradually raised as he heard the compliments from the other, his lips curled into a big wide smile, his cheeks flushed with a proud blush from hours of hard work. at the warning of overworking his vocal cords, jungwoo took a sip of water to replenish himself, nodding his head to agree with jaehyun as his eyes looked up at the ceiling as if he were looking for an answer written on the wall. "i have a lesson after lunch tomorrow," he answer with his soft, cheerful tone and gasped softly as he hadn't considered losing his voice, "ah, that sounds tasty - i've never thought this much about my voice before!" following the other, jungwoo began to tidy up and grab his things as well. "you helped a lot today!" he exclaimed graciously, "thank you so much!" jungwoo took a glance around the room to make sure he wasn't forgetting anything - just his water bottle, his phone, and his notes. "are you headed back to the dorm?" he asked as he stretched his shoulders and legs before getting up to leave.

@ˢʰᵒᵗᵈʳᵘᵐ k. wonpil Dejun perked up at the mention of the language, taking the offered music sheets and quickly scanning through them. The familiar characters registered in his mind as he softly mumbled to himself the lyrics, asking curiously while still reading through the phrases. "Is this for the band's comeback?" Once he was done reading, he looked around for a pencil, gesturing to some of the chairs by the side and musing, "Take one of them and come here, I'll teach you. How much of these Chinese characters can you read?"

Normally, Jaehyun would've hit the hay around 2 hours ago already. Since the studio didn't have windows, it was quite easy to forget time in there. Well, that was something Jaehyun and Jungwoo were about to learn that night.

"You did", he replied with a sincere smile on his face, then he dropped the pen and rubbed his hands together.
"I think you deserve some rest now, we shouldn't overwork your vocal chords! When's your next vocal lesson, hm? If you worry about your voice possibly being gone, I recommend either drinking some tea with honey or getting one of those sprays, you can ask your coach about those. I never tried them, but people say they're good."
The trainee started to pack up his stuff in order to get ready to leave. He always felt good when he was abls to help others.
"I really hope it helped you a little, Jungwoo-ah."

@ᵛᵒᶜᵃˡ ᶜᵒᵃᶜʰ x. dejun Wonpil was beyond stressed as he held sheet music tight in his hand while he poked his head into all the rooms until he stumbled upon the recording studio. He breathed a sigh of relief once the younger vocal coach came into view, expression softening as he murmured a soft greeting. "Hello, uh, oh these...I'm working on a song right now, but my Mandarin pronunciation is subpar at best. I'm struggling a bit and thought maybe you could help me out?" His worries all came out in a rush as he spoke in the doorway, offering the sheet music after a moment.

@ˢʰᵒᵗᵈʳᵘᵐ k. wonpil Dejun was just lazing about in the recording studio, minding his own business. It wasn’t his turn to hand down vocal classes to the trainees today, so with nothing better to do, he holed himself here in hopes of finding something worth while. Aside from some tampering with the machines while humming to himself, there wasn’t much to do.

It was some time later when he heard the door opening and he spun on his chair towards it, raising a brow in curiosity as he watched Wonpil entering, a natural smile on his lips as he greeted, “Hey.” He noticed the music sheets in his hands and eyes it, asking, “What are those?”

@ᵗʳᵃᶤᶰᵉᵉ l. jaehyun "ʜʏᴜɴᴊᴀᴇ" the sheet notes were covered in pencil and red pen as the two had spent the night going over vocal exercises and teaching jungwoo proper techniques to follow along vocal lessons. his bowl cut hair bounced as he tried to keep himself on time with the beat acapella, his big, bright smile ceasing to fade away through the private lesson he took as a favor from jaehyun.

as he finished his run-through, he paused for a moment before striking his big doe eyes at the other eagerly. "did i do well, hyung?" he asked, waiting for his feedback to improve his next run-through. the two had been going on like this for hours now, unaware of the time that had passed. the sun had set and everybody in the building had already locked up and left. it was just the two of them here now.
