Stan Vampires
The vampires of Stan claim the purest blood of all vampires. They have not stayed close to their European roots but have only brought select humans into their midst to add numbers to their covens. A Stan vampire is easily distinguished from the crowd for their ‘perfect’ looks and silvery-gray eyes. They are some of the oldest vampires you will find as well and seem to be the de-facto group in charge as far as keeping humans complacent without force.
Powers:
In addition to the average vampire powers, Stans have a very, very powerful glamour. Glamour is a supernatural form of mental compulsion or influence that is specific to vampires. It is similar to hypnosis and it is commonly used to influence the actions, thoughts, and memories of others. Humans do not have any defense to a vampire’s glamour, though some may be slightly resistant to it. The older the vampire, the stronger this power of suggestion is, which is why the coven leader and his eldest siblings took prime roles in media.
Stan vampires also enjoy the ability to analyze things quite rapidly and effectively, making them great business partners and hunters of rogue humans and vampires alike.
Lupei Vampires
These vampires are the ones that Bram Stoker wrote about, and one of the two oldest covens to exist overall, not just in the five covens that remain. They were what we feared when we heard stories of vampires and things that go bump in the night. They can turn into bats and werewolves, as well as any other animal that they can taste the blood of. They are very ‘in tune’ with the animal world and nature and are not confrontational by choice, but by feeling threatened. They have no specific features that set them aside.
Powers:
Can transform into any animal that they consume the blood of, though that effect is very limited depending on the amount of blood consumed (if you eat a squirrel, you get an hour or so but if you eat a moose… have fun being a moose for two weeks). They may not shift back and forth when taking on the form of another animal by consuming its blood. While they are in that form, they must eat what that animal eats or risk starving and going into a catatonic state. Their wolf form is more werewolf-like than doglike, and while in that form they may consume meat as well as other various foods that wolves would eat in the wild. They also possess a natural ability to ‘command’ smaller animals and insects (swarms of locusts or rats are very common for Lupei.)
Vulpei Vampires
These vampires seem like the weakest of the five remaining covens but hold their own in terms of number and cohesion. Despite being one of the younger off-shoots of the original covens, Vulpei came from the same line of evolution as Lupei, which means when these two covens get together, trouble (and fun) is always brewing behind the scenes. Vulpei vampires are social beings who enjoy living in large, very active areas and settings. These vampires have a reputation of getting what they want without trying, which comes as both good and bad depending on who you ask. Having a Vulpei friend around on your night out is a must if you can handle their smug attitudes.
Powers:
Vulpei, as their name suggests, can turn into foxes of any variety at will, much like the Lupei Coven. They also telepathically link with any other being to read minds, emotions, and control humans to some extent, though not as much as Stan vampires. Their main power, though, is the manipulation of chance. Vulpei vampires are the luckiest people you will ever meet and they do use that to their advantage. Wherever they go and whatever they do, they almost always succeed, and even if they don’t succeed, they aren’t losing either. In a game of chance, 99% of the time, they will win or tie with someone else. This does cause Vulpei to be rather territorial (ironically) as too many of them together makes each win a little bit smaller overall.
Fieraru Vampires.
Fieraru is the second youngest clan, right above Gheata vampires, though their powers come from years of magical training that is passed down through clan elders to each new member from Old World Romanian teaching. It is said that Fieraru vampires have fire literally running through their veins, and their red-to-orange colored eyes are a very good indicator of that. Most Fieraru vampires are impulsive, quick to judge, and quick to change their minds, even though their studies of magic mean that they are quite intelligent.
Powers:
Being magic users, a variety of spells can be learned, but most Fieraru focus on fire, as it is their clan’s calling card, shadow-walking, and either electricity or blood magic. Those that use electricity can do plenty of damage from great distances (the older you are, the stronger you get and the more area you can cover), but those that weaponize their blood are considered outcasts for the distinct possibility that they might end up turning a human on accident and without consent of the present Fieraru leader. Shadow-walking, the other common skill, is the ability to seemingly melt into shadows, as well as manipulate them to your advantage.
Gheata Vampires
Gheata are the newest vampires in the covens and their history is one steeped in human lunacy. Their founder, a human man who was trying to find an immortality potion, used vampire blood in his experiments. As all mad scientists know, sometimes testing on lab rats isn’t enough. Once he was sure that his formula was safe, he injected himself and found that the chemicals he used affected his body overall. A Gheata Vampire’s core temperature is very low, and their eyes are varying shades of blue due to chemical interactions with the original formula. It’s rumored that the mad scientist is still around somewhere, trying to make himself human again after a hundred years alive.
Powers:
Gheata vampires hold control over the elements, mostly wind and water, though with training, others have achieved power over nearly all atmospheric areas, save for fire. Their bodies are too cold for fire to sprout from their fingertips. Most Gheata Vampires are known for having ice powers, though they typically don’t show them off, preferring to live more like their human counterparts - under the radar. Despite coming up overnight as the ‘favorite child’ of the Five Covens, they are deadly when they are underestimated. One wrong word and anybody could be frozen in ice for a millennium.
