after making a final run of checking each mammal and marine life stay cosy and snuggled in their respective closures on the entire conservative, haeun strutted to the staff-only green room to change out from her work clothes into her daily ones, using her staff id card to clock out by tapping it against a machine propped up against the wall on one side of the entrance doors. there would be someone else closing up after her and she wouldn't have to worry about it at all. As soon as she stepped out and looked up, golden hues coloured the sky and her gaze shifted towards the lowering sun in the horizon. luckily the jetty was only ten minutes by foot if she were to brisk-walk to which she did and midway, it turned into a full-blown jog as the female chased the sunset, not wanting to lose sight of it. why today? why not the next time? she didn't knew why. it was simply her inner soul whispering to her to do this. probably to feel at ease after struggling so much with never-ending workload and mournful events of life hitting her one after another; a close family member having passed away recently and she couldn't take leave to attend the funeral, her cousin having died via an unconventional way because of unspoken things she had never known until now many years back, suffering through domestic violence every single day and being used as a punching bag just because her ex thought it the best way to relieve his stress, nearly landing in a coma due to that and so much more.

clearly, she would have passed her running test for national physical tests back in schools at this point because she had reached the end of the jetty and managed to catch the final phase of the sunset, her breaths heavy and exhausted with her hands placed on the curve of her hips to soothe her body back to normalcy from all the running. so much thoughts filled her head. her heart ached for her parents whom she hadn't seen in such a long time especially more during her darkest years. the last contact she made with her family was before she met her ex. the sight of the sun setting into its bed beyond the horizon somewhat soothed her pains away even for a moment, as if to say to hang on yet to another day because better days would come without her knowing. tears swelled in her large eyes and one blink sent them trickling down her slightly chubby cheeks, a result from bringing her health back from not eating properly since the traumatic events.

"oh goodness—"

she bitterly laughed at herself crying at little things like this and brought up her hand to wipe the falling tears away, watching the disappeared sun gone and replaced with streaks of golden hues splattered all over the cloudless sky. her head bowed in silence, her lips pressed against each other and her eyes blinking the excessive tears away. then a voice behind her broke spoke, full of concern and one haeun haven't sensed in a long while.
