@♡﹕ jung chaeyeon. "that.. doesn't sound so hard. how does someone understand it though? is it even supposed to have a meaning?" this time around, soobin points at the splatters of paint chaeyeon did on the canvas herself – he can't help but to feel a little too dumb for not being able to make anything out of it. maybe, he thought he could conclude that much, one's feelings are not supposed to be understood? he thought so hard about it on that short moment that he was frowning once again and if it was an animated interaction, there'd definitely be smoke coming out of his ears. with a deep inhale, soobin takes the paintbrush, gaze meeting chaeyeon for a few seconds before he exhales and reaches out for the nearest paint, then slides the brush across the canvas. one thing he was sure of, it didn't feel bad. "okay- wait, shouldn't you be leaving now? i mean, the class is over and all...?" soobin briefly glances at the time and then back at chaeyeon. they have stayed over for a couple minutes now, did she really not mind? it's not possible, right? to love so much what you do that you wouldn't mind staying over some minutes to help someone out? soobin didn't help a small chuckle, mostly to himself, as he thought it over. 'she maybe really loves this, hm?'
@♡﹕ choi soobin. chaeyeon is relieved and hopeful when soobin agrees to learn abstract art from her. she knows that he is struggling in her class, and she wants to help him succeed. she believes that abstract art is a great way for him to start, as it is a less traditional and more forgiving art form. she smiles at soobin and says, 'i'm so glad to hear that you're willing to learn abstract art. i think it's a great way for you to start exploring your creativity and developing your own unique style.' she continues, 'abstract art is all about expressing yourself and your emotions through color, form, and texture. there are no rules, so you can experiment as much as you like. i'm here to guide you along the way, but ultimately, i want you to find your own voice as an artist.' chaeyeon is excited to introduce soobin to the world of abstract art. she believes that he has a lot of potential, and she is eager to help him develop his skills. she is also hopeful that abstract art will help soobin to find a new appreciation for art and to discover his own hidden talents. as they begin their first abstract art lesson, she can't help but feel a sense of excitement contrary to soobin's grumpy energy. nevertheless, she hands the paintbrush to him.
@♡﹕ jung chaeyeon. even though the teacher didn't bother him any further throughout the class, soobin still felt a little grumpy by the end of it, but this time he tried not to be so rude as before, mentally he retorted her words with a small huff and an 'of course i am responsible'. he didn't say anything aloud though, he simply watched as chaeyeon picked up the brush. soobin was surprised when he felt a few droplets of the paint on him, but surprisingly, it didn't piss him any further. by now, he's probably just tired and wants to go home – and complain to his pillow about how life's unfair. "well.. you shouldn't clean up all of this by yourself, either." he slowly wipes away the paint from his face, but only successfully smears it around some more. "i'm not an artist, i have no idea about what you just did there." soobin points at the canvas briefly, then glances around the room. "i have no idea either about what anyone else just did. but..." he takes in a small deep breath, then exhales slowly. he'll probably regret his choice, but since he's already here, what would be the harm? "but... i guess i could give it a try. it's gonna be over soon, anyway."
@♡﹕ choi soobin. as the class proceeded towards its end, chaeyeon's new students were ready for the official dismissal and as it came, they bid their farewells to her. she had her eyes set on soobin from afar as everyone left the room. after a brisk walk across the painting studio, chaeyeon sat on an empty chair next to soobin's. 'i appreciate you staying after class to clean up. it shows that you're a responsible and caring student.' she sighed deeply, eyes darting at the mess in the room. 'you don't have to clean up all of this, i don't want you to feel like that's your responsibility. Your primary responsibility is to focus on your studies.'
picking a brush from her bag, she dipped it in one of the paint colors someone had left behind. then, she whipped the brush quickly which allowed the paint to splatter on the canvas surface before her, looking like a flower but not quite. some of the smaller flying droplets had landed on hers and soobin's face but as an artist, she was used to it. 'sorry about that' she whispered before adding some messy lines to the piece until she was pleased with it. to her, that was the beauty of an abstract expression. 'i want to offer you some extra help. i'm happy to teach you some of the basics of abstract art, which is often considered to be an easier art form to learn.'
@♡﹕ jung chaeyeon. by now, soobin had his arms crossed against his chest, lips pursed out in a small frown as well as he listened to her words. maybe, he thought to himself, when she sees how much of a disaster he is she'll let him go. it didn't occur to him to ever leave her a bad review or anything of the sort, although he's pissed, he knows she's just doing her job, so he was a little surprised when she retreated. soobin simply nodded. "okay... sounds good." the sudden change of mind spiked soobin's curiosity and for once, the frown on his features softened. she didn't seem like a bad person, who knows maybe they could work it out.
@♡﹕ choi soobin. throughout her career, chaeyeon had barely struggled as a teacher. it was something she was passionate about. hearing him talk about alternative solutions, she starts to doubt herself a little. 'cleaning up the class is not an acceptable substitute for learning... mister..' she proceeds to read his name from the notebook on his desk 'soobin, I expect you to participate in class discussions and complete all of your assignments.'
chaeyeon halts for a moment. pursing her lips and squeezing her eyes shut, she takes a minute to reprocess. what if soobin gave her bad reviews on the college's online portal? her new job could be at risk. 'hey, listen.. let's not argue. m-maybe you could clean up after class today and we could figure something out later? maybe you could learn something abstract?'
@♡﹕ jung chaeyeon. soobin is, if anything, a little more pissed now. how could she expect him, out of all people in that class, to grow as an artist? he'd be lucky if he even knew how to follow her instructions. on any other occasion, soobin would try his best to learn and become good at the things he doesn't know, but when it comes to anything artistic related, he knows he just – why would he even try if he already knows the outcome? with an annoyed sigh, his gaze met the teacher's and although she looks quite familiar, soobin could care less about that now. "look, you'll just waste your time and i'll just waste my time... i really need these credits, how about i... i don't know, clean up the class afterwards and you just let it go? i'm sure you'll do amazing with everybody else."
@♡﹕ choi soobin. she stood still, attempting to absorb the response she had received. this was the first time someone had talked to her in such a piercing manner. sighing deeply, she whispered back at the young man.
'are you serious? you're asking me to just give you the credits you need to pass the class? have you even tried to learn the material?'
chaeyeon was internally grinding her teeth, as a young teacher, she had never experienced anything like this. did that mean she was ought to fail as a mentor? she wouldn't let that happen, ever. she inhaled deeply before she spoke further 'i'm not going to give you credits that you haven't earned. this class is about more than just getting a passing grade. it's about learning and growing as an artist.'
@♡﹕ jung chaeyeon. as he heard her words, he couldn't help but to frown deeper, wasn't it just great that he gets such teacher when all he wants is to have it over already? how can soobin even try anything out when he doesn't even know what she means? maybe he really should just leave, and he was just about to gather his things to do so when the teacher approached him. soobin blinked once, then twice and briefly glanced around. in a whisper, he replied. "look, i'm not really an artist, but i need the credits. i study engineering for god's sake... can't you just give me the presence and the credits and i'll leave?"
@♡﹕ choi soobin. 'three and a half minutes late..' she whispered to herself with a sigh as she finally entered the room. upon chaeyeon's hurried entry, her painting studio chimed with greetings and she returned them with her warm smile. propping her bag on the chair, she cleared and abruptly began with a brief introduction of herself followed by an overview of the painting course.
'I can see most of you are excited but do note that I take art very seriously.' her voice darkened as she emphasized. 'this is not meant to be a leisure class, I want everyone to pay attention to what I teach.'
she glanced around at the faces before her, noticing one in particular from the beginning of the class. the young boy seemed rather glum and unresponsive to everything around him. strolling around the room, she found her way to him, her eyebrows raised inquisitively towards him 'i noticed your lack of participation in class. is there anything i can do to help you get more involved?'
@♡﹕ jung chaeyeon. the class has barely started and soobin already wanted to leave, the slight frown on his features made it evident that this is the least place he wants to be at right now. there's an ongoing art class that could give him some extra credits, but now he ponders if he really needs it. soobin briefly glances around the room, everyone else seemingly too excited, which only pissed him off a little more, he couldn't even offer a greeting when the teacher came in – instead, he absentmindedly let out a deep sigh.
