- What's the timeline for Nimbus?
- Consider modern-day vibes and aesthetics, set in the present timeframe. For the opening, we'll be adopting a 1 IC day equals 1 OOC day approach.
- What does "open world" mean in Nimbus?
- "Open world" in Nimbus means you have a lot of freedom to explore and shape your own adventure. Unlike a linear storyline where everything follows a set path, in Nimbus, you can go off the beaten path, interact with different parts of the world, and create your own experiences.
- We encourage writers to develop rich backgrounds and histories for their characters. Once your character enters Nimbus, you'll use their unique traits and skills to solve problems, go on adventures, and handle dangers. The longer your character stays in Nimbus, the more they can grow.
- We're also working on expanding Nimbus by adding more locations, including international countries such as your characters' hometown. This will give you even more opportunities to explore and discover new things beyond the harry potter universe that was limited to the united kingdom/britain.
- So Nimbus isn't just about Hogwarts?
- That's correct. While Hogwarts is a part of Nimbus, our main focus is on the entire global wizarding world with various international countries being unlocked as the lore of nimbus develops to integrate the uncharted territories such as the united states of america and asia that have not been explored in the harry potter universe. We welcome characters who come from a variety of unique backgrounds and professions, such as shop owners, those who work for the ministry of magic, and other professions within this magical realm. However, if you're interested in writing a character who is still a student, you can certainly do so, as wizards and witches often undertake apprenticeships after graduating from Hogwarts. Additionally, your characters don't have to be exclusively associated with Hogwarts; they could be alumni of other magical schools like Beauxbatons Academy or Durmstrang. but we'd like to remind that nimbus does not focus on the schooling aspect.
- Are occupations in the wizarding world limited solely to official roles like those within the Ministry of Magic or hospitals, or are there opportunities for individuals to engage in shadier professions within the Nimbus community?
- Certainly! Within the wizarding world, you'll find a diverse range of occupations, some of which operate within the confines of the law while others exist in the shadows. While some may hold positions within the Ministry of Magic, others may find themselves drawn to the darker side of society. These individuals might engage in activities like potion smuggling, dark artifact trading, or even working as enforcers for wizarding crime syndicates. Their work often involves operating outside the boundaries of the law and could lead to involvement in activities frowned upon or outright prohibited by magical authorities.
- Are move-in couples or established married couples allowed?
- Absolutely. However, to encourage diverse roleplaying and interaction and to prevent linear or exclusive storytelling, writers should keep in mind that they need to engage in a minimum of two threads with other writers, excluding the writer of the character with whom they have an established relationship.
- Will there be established criminal empires or equivalents to Aurors?
- Currently, there aren't any. However, we're open to the idea. If there's enough interest from multiple writers, we're willing to support the creation of such organizations within the Nimbus community.
- Are there any roles or positions available in the ministry that the writers can claim for their characters?
- Yes, however at the moment, we ask our fellow writers to state their occupation briskly while we prepare a way for writers who are interested to claim important positions in the ministry. You may however check out our document right here on what you can expect to be claimable: here.
- Can my characters be connected to any established major or minor characters in the books?
- No. Nimbus emphasizes its identity as separate from the Harry Potter canon, meaning characters, regardless of their significance, including Death Eaters, are not part of Nimbus. This decision fosters a fresh narrative direction, granting writers the freedom to delve into unexplored aspects of the wizarding world.
