@❛ eleanor deschamps。 Heinrich couldn't help but release a gentle chuckle, his lips curling into a faint smile as he absorbed the unexpected blow from the diminutive figure before him. With a practiced grace, he enveloped her in a warm embrace.
"Waiting seems to be a concept lost on you," he quipped, settling into his seat with a fluid motion. His gaze, typically sharp and discerning, softened as it fell upon her. There was no need for her to articulate the obvious; his insomnia was a well-known companion, etched into the weary lines beneath his eyes
"Merde.. You did not have to point it out" It comes out as a quiet admittance, followed by a soft sigh and a defeated smile.
Heinrich mirrors her action as he listened to her inquiry.
"The old man is always prying here and there and yes. His latest interference would be intercepting my mail before I can even get to them. Seriously..what did he think I would be doing? For 's sake Eleanor I'm twenty seven." He rolls his eyes as he uttered his age.
It would be no surprise if his father had him tailed since pulling a stunt at the ministry last month. After learning of a collaboration with a certain Irish witch, the La Lune heir would much rather be fired or demoted to janitorial duties than to temporarily work with this certain someone. Devoting his time to this case would mean less time to see his 'dear' friend. Who shall keep her company while he was away?
"Oh Eleanor, what would you do without me?" He says, fake concern laced his voice at his playful tease. There would be a pause in their conversation before he explains.
"Dear father is sending me to an early grave by giving me more work. And I cannot say no for obvious reasons...I gather that you've heard of my little fiasco a month ago? Yeah not even that was enough to get me out of ministry duties."
There was a glint in his eyes as an idea took shape in his mind.
"What if ...we create a scandal? Come on Eleanor... help a dear friend out." Heinrich was running out of options and excuses and if they were to publicize that they were together, then that might just save the La Lune heir from his impending duties in the ministry. It would be a semi permanent house arrest at best for him. But as he thought about it more, a frown makes its way to his brows before he quickly waves his hand in dismisal. Thinking his solution to be quite silly now.
"Nevermind that thought just now. I am sure your family would never let you leave the house once they find out that you're involved with me."
"Anyway, enough about me and my problems...How have /you/ been? Any interesting conquests as of late? What happened to that italian wizard you were telling me of last month?"
Now usually this would have hit differently but in this exact moment it made her jump as she clutched her chest. Eleanor rolled her eyes and turned around to land a soft punch on the male's arm. "Heinrich la Lune," she said with her eyes squinting up at him before giving him a hug. "I hope I didn't make you wait long.." she said while offering him his choice of seats, next to her or across while she returned to her own. She observed him for a moment, apart from his usual good looks, he seemed tired. "I take it you haven't slept much?" She asked with concern laced in her voice.
She leaned back on her seat, finally relaxing properly as she had familiar company. "So what did you want to talk about? You were a bit cryptic with your message. Is he looking into your letters again?" It wouldn't be a surprise if his father was being nosy... yet again. Sure he had some disdain towards Eleanor for running away from his first born but it was the way he looked at Heinrich that made her blood boil. He wasn't even that perfect himself so this was unnecessary pressure especially that Heinrich was already in his mid-twenties. Perhaps it was the big sister in her that was getting protective, whatever it was she was willing to defend him no matter what despite both families being long time friends.
If anyone knew what their 'friendship' was like, eyebrows would be raised and stories with countless variations would trickle down the grapevines, so they had to be extra cautious. Still, it never stopped them from continuing their rendezvouses, business or otherwise. Henri had so much potential and it pained Eleanor whenever his father would despise him, not even acknowledging the achievements he has made. If it weren't for their connection, she definitely would have done something by now-- she hasn't out of respect but if need be she wasn't going to hold back.
@❛ eleanor deschamps。 One of the many things that helped with Heinrich’s insomnia was the smell of the soil after rain. So seeing that it had been pouring in London once again, he was guaranteed to have a good night’s rest at least.
Another constant in his life as of late was the company of his childhood friend, Eleanor. Apart from friendship, she also provided him with useful counsel, especially when he could not be bothered to research for cases that had been turned over to him when the latter resigned. She had more knowledge, and he would make use of said knowledge when she gladly provided it to him. His payments would always come in the form of treating her to dinner amongst other things.
As he picked a muggle library that not many often visited, he knew that he would at least be safe from the prying eyes of the La Lune patriarch who seemed to be keeping a close eye on him as of late. He did not want to compromise Eleanor lest his father finds out of the nature of their—friendship. Especially when his father seemed to have eyes and ears everywhere.
His reverie would be broken by the vibration of his phone in his pocket, of course, it would be characteristic of Eleanor to snap a photo of her surroundings instead of just calling him. It was his turn to get up from the corner that he picked. The natural lighting from the outside did not do the interior of the library for it was awfully overcast.
Heinrich quickly locates Eleanor. Knowing she would be the only one present in the grand library apart from the librarian. He stealthily approaches the latter, descending the steps from the second floor before he abruptly stopped just a few steps behind the female. The wizard pulls out his wand and when he was sure that the librarian disappeared somewhere he would chant.
“lumos”
Suddenly artificial filled the space he shared with Eleanor, albeit a bit dimmed to not rouse suspicion for it was only meant to surprise the latter.
@❛ heinrich la lune。 'Rain..' Eleanor thought while looking at the falling droplets with a slight annoyance. There was nothing to complain about unfortunately, London was known for endless rain and it was better than a heat wave. Clutching on to the lapels of her long black trench coat and keeping her umbrella close, the trek to the library wasn't so far but she didn't wonder why out of all the places Henri picked this was his choice. It was unusual but the situation at hand would benefit from the seclusion and silence of the library.
The heels of her boots clicked on the cobblestoned walk way before she finally made it to the entrance. A small huff left her lips once she was under the shaded entrance, "A quick trip to Le Crotoy after this is much needed." She said to herself while placing her umbrella on the rack provided and peeling off her coat before walking in. 'Now where could he be?..' she wondered to herself while looking around, stopping briefly in her tracks to greet the librarian in return. She kept her steps at a slow and gently pace so as not to disturb the few others who were not their kind but this wasn't new to her. Not having a single clue as to where this tall man would be, she settled for one of the tables in a secluded area and fished for her phone in there pocket to shoot him a quick text and photo of where she was, hoping it'd be easier to find her. The library, as much as it felt like home, was a maze on its own if anything.
'We're meeting at a cafe next time.. this is too complicated.' She thought to herself before getting up to peruse the books that surrounded her. She ran her fingers on the row of spines on books tightly packed against each other, randomly pulling out a book on British History and flipped through it before putting it back and looking at the rest that pique her interest.
