@jang daehyeon. Dohyun’s muscles burned and his eyes zoned in on how easily his axe cut—how it sliced into the undead’s neck. On a different occasion, the sight of an undead’s head falling to the ground would satisfy his hatred for them. Today he was tired. He wasn’t sure how many he’d taken out so far, but it was enough to make his mind go numb, pure instinct to survive kicking in to keep him going and his muscle memory propelling him and the man beside him forward out of the pile of corpses. His breathing grew heavier with each step he took, but he kept going, teeth gritting until he found a break, an escape.

“Grab your and run.” He called out and swung one last time before making his way out of the ransacked grocery store. He ran, his eyes set on his escape route: through the alley way and over the wall. He didn’t look back. It was the golden rule of survival. Save yourself and then others later. Once he reached the wall, he lifted himself up effortlessly. Only then did he look back, waiting for the other man to pull him over the stone barrier.

The rest of the trip back was uneventful aside from the limbless zombies crying out in hunger. Even at their most pitiful, they were shameless, crying at the scent of humans. He paid them no mind. His eyes bore into the back of Daehyeon’s head instead. “Yah. Are you sure you’re not bit?” He questioned, grabbing the man by his shoulder and spinning him around, sharp eyes scanning over his visage. He was covered in blood, but it didn’t look like it was his own. “If you were just going to become zombie fodder, you should’ve stayed back at camp.“

@lee dohyun. It wasn't uncommon for Daehyeon to head out of the colony area by himself, but it was one of the times that he had left without his companion, Sparky. After the last scare that he had received from Sparky, he thought it would do him some good to get a break and so the golden retriever could have a good proper rest as well. Not only that but Daehyeon only had the capacity to look out for himself today, let alone another being.

He had been preoccupied in the grocery store, trying to gather what he could of food and whatever extra supplies that he could shove in his bag when he began to hear the faint groaning sounds of a zombie close-by. Pausing for a second, trying to gauge how far the enemy was, though he hadn't seen anything at first glance around the store. That should have meant that he could easily, finish shoving the bag full, and sneak out of there without a problem.

...That was, until every divine being in the universe decided to make this Daehyeon's unlucky day.

Upon standing up, Daehyeon hadn't realize how heavy he had stuffed his bag, and the quick movement caused him a brief rush of light-headedness. Stumbling over the weight of the backpack, he tried to steady himself on the half shelf that was next to him, only for it to topple over causing him to go with it. A loud crashing noise echoed through the empty store, and the male had internally cursed himself. Just a he had feared, he seen a few zombies already headed his way.. a whole hoard of them.

Jumping too his feet immediately, Daehyeon tried to run in the opposite direction, but there was only one exit to the store, and he had been completely surrounded. Daehyeon wasn't exactly sure what happened next after that, his fight or flight response kicking in and his body moving without much thought.

It wasn't until Daehyeon was being jerked back to his feet that he realized that he had fallen over, his backpack somewhere lost in the midst of all the commotion. The other's voice having brought him back to reality just enough to help out where he could, his knife slicing through what he could of the 'dead'. He nodded, his voice had felt gone at this point, but Daehyeon wouldn't dare to allow himself back into the colony if he had been bitten.

They said moving together in teams was the only means of survival. Being alone in a world like
this– a world where the living dead outnumbered the living– was as good as being dead. But maybe being dead was the only way to escape the hellish reality everyone was living now. Why were humans so hellbent on surviving? Were they scared of the end? Or was it pure instinct driving them to keep going? Thoughts like these were why Dohyun preferred silence to the constant bickering between the colony dwellers and the reason why he volunteered to head out on his own to gather supplies. If he was focused on surviving, maybe the voices would stop.

Maybe her voice would go away.

But the silence was deafening. Dohyun straightened up as he stuffed the last bottle of pain medication he could fit into his duffle, his eyes flickering around the unusually quiet convenience store. No occasional groans from the undead dragging their feet through the deserted streets. Nothing. “Weird,” he whispered under his breath. He closed his eyes and focused on nothing in particular. There was only one possible reason why the streets were empty.

His head snapped toward the direction of a distant scream– one that was bloodcurdling but one that still had some fight left in it. If Dohyun knew any better, he would run the other way. But Dohyun’s instinct to save someone was just as strong as his instinct to survive; his feet were already taking him in the direction of the chaos.

His limbs moved as practiced, his axe blade cut with precision, and his eyes paved his way toward a familiar figure at the center of the bloodbath. Saving himself became an afterthought, rough hands grabbing Daehyeom by the collar of his shirt and yanking him back onto his feet. “If you’re bit, your head is coming off right after I'm finished,” he howled, hacking off a few more once his hand was free.

Could I maybe claim that last slot as Fukutomi Tsuki of Billlie?
