There are three things all wise men fear: the sea in a storm, a night with no moon, and the anger of a gentle man. But what was fear, if not the wrath of a whole house tinged and filled with nothing but vengeance and pure hatred?
They've been back in Verona for a hundred years and the Montagues have established themselves as a house of crimes, introducing illicit substances, opening businesses that toed the line between legal and blatant sin and so forth, to slowly work their way through the city, gaining power where and when they could even if it teetered between the edge of fear and loyalty. Truth be told, it had never been about the money. Money made people do something because of what you gave to them. But power… power made them do it because you simply told them to. Money made a person fly but power never died.. And it never needed an alibi either. Power would make their names be written in history books, be sung in anthems of the nations for the next generations to come. And that was enough motive to take their rightful place in Verona back, but not as mere neighbors to the Capulets but as Gods who wanted the same amount of blood spilled.
Having built allies and relationships over the world especially in China, Russia and Germany, the Montagues have set themselves apart, distinctive in the way their family had expanded themselves from their close-knit relationships and expanded into minor branches around the continent, Verona being main turf. And being business savvy, they saw the opportunity in taking leadership and asserting dominance over the trying and small gangs in the country. The Montagues’ hunger for power, coupled by minds who thought of futures for themselves and with a pure love for money, Verona soon became a powerhouse for drug manufacturing- albeit no matter how much the Capulets boasted in real estate or technology or mining or whatever may be. There was nowhere in the world that produced the finest and purest form of and heroin. But it was not only the drug business that boomed under the Montagues; trafficking, weapon manufacturing and so much more happened in the shadows, away from the public eye and the surface.
And they preferred it that way; for it was only in the cover of the night and the shadows that thunder hit the loudest and hardest.
