Hi! As many of you know, I've been away from posting anything for a while (from both RPR and AFF) to focus on work and a health issue but I still come back to fix things on both sites. A few months back, people were once again unable to log in to RPR so I decided to fix it once and for all. I was never able to figure out why people were unable to log in every couple of months but I decided it was just better to replace the whole thing with the same system from AFF. After all, AFF doesn't have a login problem. I tested it, I was able to log in and log out, and there were no errors in the logs so as far as I was concerned, that was that. I then got sick afterwards and decided to stay away from AFF and RPR for a while. It's only today that I checked my messages to find out that the sign for whether or not someone is online wasn't working. I dug around and found that the issue was related to the login issue and I managed to fix that problem today.
There was another issue where character avatars were not being updated in room posts when the image was changed and that should also be fixed today. There was an issue with character avatars before where if the url of your character image had a weird symbol in it, it wouldn't show in the room. I decided to standardize the way your character avatars were named to something predictable instead to fix that problem. The issue was that both the cache on my end and on your browser doesn't get cleared whenever you changed your image so your browser was still getting the old image. So today I added a version number to your avatar images whenever you change it so it doesn't run into a cache problem again.
As for new features, I want to tackle the issue of being able to tag multiple characters at once in a room. I've been thinking for months now on how to get this done since we don't have the infrastructure for it (we're not Twitter). Even the room reply code was hacked and cobbled together since the room code wasn't originally designed to handle replies. On the other hand, I think a lot of you really want some way to be able to tag multiple characters in a room so I'll think of some way to get it done.
Lastly, a few of you have also messaged me about how clicking on the reply button doesn't bring down the reply box for you but for the life of me, I can't find where that is! Every reply link works for me. Can someone send me a link to one of your pages where the reply button doesn't work for you? It doesn't matter if I can't access it because I'll just know where to start looking based on the url. Can you also let me know what browser and OS you're using? I tested the reply buttons using Chrome, Safari, and Firefox on a Mac OS X and couldn't find the problem but maybe it's just not working on a different platform.
