gohyang or gohyang-si is a provincial seaside city in uljin county, north gyeongsang, known for their cattail-based products, fresh snow crab, and other seafood.

gohyang was once nicknamed “cat town” or “cattail town” by south koreans because of the early legend that the town’s area was previously inhabited by only cats, who were then adopted by early korean settlers. with it's recent promotion to a city, it is better known now as calico cove city.

according to legend, the cats passed away after a happy and safe life, becoming the cattails that grew in the ground. during this time period, koreans had a more negative view of cats, and since the cats in gohyang (formerly known as the town goyang before 1413) were treated well, they rewarded their human owners and their descendants with fertile land and lots of great fishing seasons. the current name of the small town also suits the legend because it was considered the “hometown” (고향면) of korea’s cat population.

general guidelines.

Rule 01: please favourite the roleplay. this will serve as both a requirement and a prerequisite for reservation. an upvote is considered optional, however is deeply appreciated and loved.

Rule 02: we are only accepting users/muns that are 21 and above into our community. this is to keep a safe and legal environment for our members as we are also not accepting faceclaims who are minors.

Rule 03: accounts used should be at least a year old. for private accounts, the admins will ask you to unprivate briefly so we can confirm the age of your account. we will not be accepting screenshots as they can be manipulated, anyone who does not cooperate will not be allowed to join the roleplay. like rule 2 in this section, this is for the safety of the members of the roleplay.

Rule 04: move-in couples are allowed, please state in your application if so. even so, we highly encourage treating everyone fairly, so no bubble roleplaying. dating ban lasts for two weeks for characters who joined single.

Rule 05: godmodding, bubble roleplaying, facechasing and userchasing are strictly not allowed. we highly encourage openness / inclusivity!

Rule 06: ooc drama is strictly discouraged. please contact the admins and we will try to resolve issues as privately as possible. ic drama, on the other hand, is allowed as long as the parties involved stated their consent to it.

Rule 07: we allow every mun to reserve up to two (2) characters upon joining. if you have troubles with your character's background, check out [plot / character skeleton room(s)] for available ideas by other mun.

Rule 08: inactivity is set to 21 days or three weeks. you will receive a warning to clear the inactivity sign within 24 hours before the removal of your character.

Rule 09: an active thread should have a minimum of 250 words in one reply per mun. 200 words per reply is acceptable if the thread has reached 6+ replies between the muns involved.

Rule 10: any threads containing mature contents are accepted. however, such threads should be kept under [m] rooms, character walls and/or (group) pm.

Rule 11: character pregnancy and couples having a child together are accepted but we do not condone the use of an underage "faceclaim" (official or not) for their children. password is crab legs.

Rule 12: please use appropriate rooms provided and tag the admin team (under town officers tab) when it comes to asking for assistance! if ever concerns arise, do not hesitate to contact the admin team and we will reply to every inquiry shortly.

Rule 13: if leaving, please send any of the admins or gohyangmun a private message instead of leaving a public comment. (we ask for each mun to let any members of the admin team to personally deactivate your character(s) for record purposes.)

character guidelines.

Rule 01: faceclaim of choice must be 21 years old or higher at the time of application. your oc's age can be added or subtracted by 3 years as long as it is still 21 years old or above.

Rule 02: any faceclaim from the korean entertainment industry is allowed, as long as they are allowed to be roleplayed (not deceased, problematic [criminal charges & conviction, especially]), or did not ask to be roleplayed.

we are allowing non-korean faceclaims, but make sure they have a valid reason to be in gohyang, since it is still in the province after all, not a foreigner-friendly place like seoul or a big korean city. gohyang is still the smallest type of city by category.

Rule 03: racebending is strictly not allowed. this means you cannot change your character's ethnicity. (ex. kim soohyun cannot be changed to be chinese, japanese, or half-chinese, etc.) nationality is flexible, faceclaim/character ethnicity is not. name of character should align with their faceclaim's ethnicity, unless they're american, canadian, etc. (ex. jennifer huh also being huh yunjin)

Rule 04: strictly no genderbending allowed if faceclaim does not explicitly state that they are trans/non binary in real life.

rule 05: both model and married faceclaims are acceptable, as long as they fit the other conditions (being 21 years old or older). fashion models are allowed since they're part of the korean entertainment / media industry and are public figures, as long their age can be verified. instagram influencers / youtubers are not allowed.

Rule 06: muns are only allowed one faceclaim per idol group. this is disregarded if the faceclaim is an ex-member.

(ex. red velvet's joy as an actor but also an idol is allowed vs. gong jiho currently only an actress and ex-member of oh my girl is now allowed).

disbanded group members are also exempt, as long as they are not in the same group currently (ex. chaewon and sakura both from iz*one and lesserafim).

Rule 07: two muns cannot use the same faceclaim. duplicates are prohibited. if you are having trouble picking a faceclaim, please check out our wishlist room or the skeletons room.

Rule 08: in regard to relationships, there is an age difference rule for every character.

if your character is under the [21 - 23] age bracket (altered ages ic applicable), they are discouraged to be romantically involved with characters 5 or more years older than them.

if your character is of 24 years or older, an allowance of 6-8 years age difference is applied.

Rule 09: due to the nature of the rp being an aurp, it is a requirement for the characters to have oc full names (surname and given name both changed) or oc given names (surname of fc remains, but this is heavily discouraged) to keep the authenticity of it being au. we are avoiding any deep association to the faceclaims for authenticity's sake and for easier ccs.

Rule 10: any occupation is allowed, as long as it fits within the coastal city setting. please see the faq for the exception. if you have doubts about your character's occupation, you may ask an admin for help or you can address them in the comments before you join.

Rule 11: there will be a limit on rich/wealthy backgrounds. until further notice, we encourage your character to have a middle-class (upper-class at best) or lower-class background in order to remain realistic to the newer small-city setting and balance out the different classes of society.
