@Jung Daehyun Krystal spared another glance at the older to shoot him a glare—which, she knew, wouldn't scare him one bit considering how he's already used to her reactions to his teasing. She even knew that if she tries to swing an fist to hit his head, he'd already be lifting his arms to shield his pretty little face. For as long as they had known each other, it had already become a habit—him teasing, and her hitting. People would actually be surprised if Daehyun says one word and Krystal starts hitting the daylights out of him, thinking she's nothing but a barbaric female. But Daehyun knew it was simply how she reacts. He was used to it, after all.
But this wasn't time to fool around. Instead of actually swinging an arm, she rolled her eyes and spun around. "Jeez, Dae. It's been two years and you still hadn't changed," she clucked her tongue before jogging back to the building, her gun in hand just in case they were to encounter anyone or anything... strange.
"I always have a plan," Krystal smirked, her eyes with a glint of mischief. She kicked the door to the staircase open and scanned the area before beckoning the other to follow. "We need to get to him," she said, pertaining to her so-called partner in her current operation. "But first of all, I need to collect my stuffs. I don't think I'm willing to leave the important documents I managed to gather in the office now that there's no chance for us to be able to go back in this place in the future."
She started climbing the stairs, but paused in the second floor. She spun around to her cousin and raised a brow. "We're going to raid the arsenal. Are you up for some thievery?"
@Krystal Jung Daehyun sighed and pursed his lips, weighing the options they may have, sure they could do what his cousin said but according to the things he had encountered today, it scared him that he's pretty sure that the z that he 'met' earlier might only be one out of hundreds that may be in this island. With another sigh he nodded and scratched his nape, not really much of a choice because either way they will have to face those—things someday, somewhere.
"... Fine." he mumbled softly before nodding at his cousin. A soft smile on his lips, raising a hand to pat his cousin's head, "Alright, alright. Lead the way, missy." he said with a slight grin, quite amused at how Krystal's acting, even if they were in some kind of dangerous mission, he really couldn't help his habit of teasing her. Oh well, he really should make use of his remaining time on earth or something...
He mentally kicked himself for such a negative thought then shook his head, there should be something that could helped them, something will somehow happen that could help them solve the mystery of this island.
"So... what do we do? Any solid plan? Because if you ask me, the first I'd suggest is find my team though I know that isn't the best option we should take right now." He mumbled softly before he remembered something, "Oh, wait! You should have a partner for this mission, right? Still alive?" he asked with a curious tilt of his head, he didn't actually know who that person is so it might be good to know now, to expand the options they could take, maybe her partner discovered something useful or knows anything about whatever's happening around them.
@Jung Daehyun Krystal wished she had her stuffs right now; then they could've just simply fled and searched for the source of the spill. But then again, she had to go back to the building. For all she knew, the virus might have reached the upper levels of the police station. That, she wasn't really looking forward to seeing. The virus—whatever it is—it's spreading fast.
"We could just reach them later and rendezvous," she nodded before pointing at the entrance of the police station building. "We need to go there. For the love of God, yes, we need somewhere safe. There's no way we could engage into a chitchat in such a wreck."
For all she knows, Grautaz hadn't only let loose a virus that affects human stability—but also causes a mutation of other organisms. Surely, she wasn't looking forward to witnessing such live metamorphosis.
Her phone wasn't on her pocket, sadly, and she could not make sure if her partner was still alive somewhere—but she could only hope. The latter, after all, was also a BSAA agent. She doubted he's less experienced, especially given the fact that he's older, and had probably gotten more missions in the past than her.
Despite the fact that there could be survivors in the upper levels of the building, however, she couldn't really stay and serve as their protection. As much as she was Officer Lee, she's also Krystal—a BSAA agent. And she's got a bigger purpose than to hang out with her so-called fellow cops.
Right then and there, she was already planning something.
@Krystal Jung "Is that so?" he said before a soft groan left his lips, he's even feeling more and more frustrated as the fog from the explosions cleared up. The gears in his brain started working, finding and finding something that'd somehow explain this—this they are currently in. His head throbbed as thoughts flew in and out of his mind, the woman, the—dare he call it—zombie, the explosions, and what the the suspected bio-terrorists have to do with this explosions and the weird things that he have encountered.
"And about the others, well... I don't really know where they are right now. I kinda broke my earpiece but I can fix it later." he mumbled as he took out the gadget, sighing softly, because he had another thing to worry about.
Daehyun ran his fingers through his hair before he looked around, now that the fog was gone, he could see how much damage the explosions have made. The so called town is now in ruins and worse of all is the dead bodies littering the place. Well, actually, that's not the worse, it's the fact that most of the bodies are mangled in a very different way, like someone feasted on its remains. Disgusting.
"Well, I think, I have some... discoveries."
He swept the place another look before staring at his cousin.
"But I think it'd be better to discuss those things somewhere safer. Any place you suggest?" he asked, his fingers unconsciously tightening around his rifle. This place, right now, is too dangerous. Too many possibilities for more weird things to happen and for all he know, he might even meet another monster—in another more disgusting form.
And he'd very like it if that wouldn't ever happen.
@Jung Daehyun One of the reasons as to why Krystal agreed upon becoming a spy for her first task was because she found the company, Grautaz, suspicious as well. The Jjin branch of didn't seem to have been known as much as their other branches all over the world, and BSAA were just fortunate they had a lot of technology experts to be able to get through their databases.
The fact that Grautaz had always been a step ahead of her all along had frustrated her—a lot. As far as she knew, she always kept an eye on the company, even with the help of a friend. What could've gone wrong?
Then again, maybe they just missed something. /Something/.
"I would have already told you if I knew."
A grumble escaped her lips. Krystal never liked it when someone is ahead of her. No one gets in her way. But it seems like this time, she lose. "A spill or not, I have no idea. I woke up to this," she gestured around with her arms. To think she's lucky she's still alive until this very moment, when they already had a lot of fallen cops. If she plans to continue with their way, she needs to wear at least one protective gear.
At this moment, she's no longer Officer Lee—no longer Lee Bona. What's the need of a fake identity now that all hell had finally broke loose?
Whatever the reason for this is, there has to be a way to get rid of it.
As much as they needed to get out of this place, there's still so much to find out. "Where are the others?"
@Krystal Jung Daehyun coughed softly and cleared his throat as he walk around the place, weapon ready in case he would meet another disgusting—thing or whatever it was called. He didn't realize the fog was this thick when he was far away or maybe it thickened more because of the other explosions he heard not too far away from where the police station is. He his chapped lips as he started running, almost hitting a pole on the way, good thing he saw it a few inches before.
While running through the foggy place though, he couldn't help but think about the thing he saw earlier and what the woman said. Was it really true? It wasn't a joke? He's not just hallucinating or something? Sure he'd encounter a few monster-like things while under BSAA but really? An almost corpse coming alive and attacking people? What kind of inhumane bastards would think AND do something so evil like that? He flinched when his earpiece made a screeching sound before someone talked.
"D--- Dae-- Daehyun!"
"Y-Yeah?"
"Anything weird you've encountered?"
"Well... I think so? I think the rumored bacteria in this island is much more- dangerous, not to mention disgusting."
"What do you mean—"
He heard another screech, loud enough that he ripped off his earpiece, flinching as he rubbed his abused ear. Great, now he doesn't have any communication with the others. With a sigh he shove the earpiece in his pocket, he'll just have to fix it later. First, find the freaking station and his cousin.
His eyebrows furrowed before squinting when he saw something moving on the ground somewhere in front of him. What the- He ran closer to the object before cringing, it's a mangled corpse, , it seems like he won't be able to keep his breakfast down in the end of this day. He caught another movement in front before he readied his rifle, he squinted before he heard a familiar voice.
"Stal!" He said before a soft relieved sigh left his lips, he approached the figure before wounding his arms around her waist. "Damn, cous... What's happening here?" he asked after he stepped back, eyebrows furrowing together as he looked at his cousin for any answers, he desperately needed.
@Jung Daehyun Hesitatingly, Krystal stepped into the corpse, making sure that if its still alive, she had it pinned down with the weight of her body. Its face was beyond recognizable, obviously. Half of its face had been eaten off—from its cheek down to its throat. As she inched closer to examine, even with the smoke, she had caught the scent of the rotten dead body, even catching a glimpse of the ripped tissues in its body. Unable to contain her disgust, Krystal gagged. Good heavens, what could've been the cause of all this?!
But Krystal didn't have much time to ponder over something intently in the middle of the ruins. There were still other people inside the building, and it wasn't getting any good. She had to go up and contact the others immediately—and by means of others, she was thinking of the organization she works for, BSAA.
It seems like as she made her way to finding out about the mysterious island, Grautaz was already a step ahead of her. Too late, she heard a voice in her thoughts say. She was already too late. Almost two years of watching their every move, and she still failed.
Clutching her gun tight, she swallowed a bile and kicked the corpse away. No way would she spend another minute mulling about something now.
About to head back to the building, she was surprised upon catching a glimpse of another figure from afar. It seemed like it was running—now, it's not an "it". It's a "he"; a human. For sure. Not unless the zombies knew how to run now, then no doubt whoever was approaching was uninfected. Or at least, she hoped.
Either way, she kept her weapon raised, pointing to the approaching figure.
When he was near enough did she actually realize who it was.
Her cousin! "Dae!" she gasped, both surprised and relieved. If Daehyun is here, no doubt the others are already here as well. Maybe she no longer needed to send a message—BSAA had already gotten the news of the outbreak. "Oh, my God, Daehyun," she exhaled.
@Krystal Jung Explosions happened here and there that Daehyun didn't have enough time to dodge the flying debris, good thing those years of training enhanced his reflex so he only got a few scratches as he made his way to the police station, dodging the running citizens. Damn, he cursed as more and more people started appearing, he can't almost walk for a minute without anyone bumping onto him but he's already used to things like this because it happened in a few missions they have already done.
"Run! Run! Oh my god! M-monsters!"
His eyebrows furrowed at that. That's not something usual. He followed the source of the noise grabbing the woman who was almost hysterical, he gently shook her before asking what's wrong. What made her scream like that? What monsters was she talking about? Just what the did those bastards did this time?
"M-My husband, he was heavily injured and in the hospital..."
"... Continue. What else is wrong?"
"You don't understand, mister! H-He stood up again! Even though I was so sure he's almost dead! The doctors said so!"
Was this a joke? He asked himself, scoffing inwardly before he stared blankly at the woman whose eyes were wide in fear, trembling so much as tears streamed down her face. Her husband was injured, survived. Wasn't that something to be happy about? Here's a woman, crying because her husband was alive? His train of thoughts were broken when the woman started struggling out of his hold before pushing him away.
"He lost both of his arm! Ribs are broken, skull is damaged... B-But because of that medicine they injected to him, he became a monster!"
"Ma'am, please, calm down—"
"NO! He attacked the doctors and nurses! DON'T YOU UNDERSTAND? HE'S A MONSTER!"
He took a step back when the woman looked up at him with wide eyes, almost like her sanity was gone. He shook his head before letting the woman run away, everything's too much to handle. He heard another shrill scream but this time it wasn't because of fear... more like agony? and pain? His eyes turned to the sight of a bloody man, in a hospital gown, chewing. A dead body losing some of his limbs was on his feet, bleeding none stop, forming a pool blood around the chewing man. And before he knew it... He fired, bull's eye, bullet straight to man's head and he fell down with a thud.
, , . He swore to himself, fighting the urge to puke his breakfast all over the ground before he turned around and started running faster to his destination. Maybe his cousin knows anything about this ing disgusting situation. You don't know how relieved he was when he neared the said station, but at the same time worried because apparently the explosions also went this way. He wasn't even sure if his cousin was still alive... But there's one thing he's sure about.
@Jung Daehyun Had she been lounging in the office too much that she had actually been unaware of the havoc outside the building as it happened? Honestly, yes. She didn't actually have her face buried in a pile of documents for nothing. Either she was too focused with what she was reading, or she was actually asleep. And in reality, the truth was the latter. A police officer by the name Lee Bona was dumbly asleep in the middle of a catastrophe, leaving the other cops in charge of solving the unsolvable. She didn't really have much time to feel bad, given that she had to rush out in order to help. Heck, she had already screwed up; in no way she would make it worse.
As soon as she was outside, she scanned the area, her gun drawn. Nothing else seemed strange but the fact that it seemed pretty deserted. Other than the flames that was left of the recent explosion. That moment, she was already wondering what could possibly be the explosion for. Finding no other reason for it, she settled for that theory that involves terrorist attacks.
She was already a few meters away from the building when she caught a glimpse of a staggering figure, poster slumped, the way an injured man could've walked.
Eyes wide, she remained where she stood, skeptically eyeing the other. A guttural sound escaped it's throat—yes, she was addressing it "it", and not "he".
"Freeze!" she warned, aiming her gun at the man's chest. But it didn't, almost like he didn't hear her. The smoke had pretty much clouded the view, disallowing her to make a better view of the other. "Stop right there," she spoke again.
Only when it was a few meters away did she actually see its disgusting face.
Oh, . Harsh profanities threatened to roll off her tongue.
A zombie, no doubt. But why... how...?
Again, she didn't have much time to think about it—not when its about to pin her down already with it's skeletal, disgusting hands. So she fired, the bullet hitting its chest. She fired again, this time hitting its throat. How she wanted so bad to vomit, but had to swallow a bile. As much as she was disgusted, she had to observe the corpse.
What could've been the cause of this? She had no idea. But it surely is happening really fast.
That's how long it's been since they boarded the plane and Daehyun was doing his hardest not to ing shove the pilot off his seat and take over. If only the plane would go faster. He sighed softly, eyes trailing to stare outside of the window beside his seat, almost boring holes at the sturdy glass. He felt so helpless just sitting there, hating every second that he'd have to try hard to reassure himself that his cousin is alright, that she's still alive.
"How long do we have before departure?"
"Less than 20 minutes, sir!"
He gritted his teeth before running his fingers through his hair, talk about getting pressured. He took his rifle before quickly reloading it, he needs to be ready just in case the rumors about the bio-terrorists in the island was true. He wonder what kind of hellish thing they have invented once again—his thoughts were interrupted though when the pilot spoke.
"Were landing. Hold on tight!"
Fina-ing-lly.
They all took their bags and held onto their seats as the plane landed, slightly bumpy because of the not much developed road of the airport. Once the pilot have deemed it was good enough, they all rushed out of the plane, quickly scanning the place for any sign of bio-terrorist attack.
But do they really need to do that when it was as clear as a sky that it's positive with all the people running around the place?
Worry for his cousin quickly struck Daehyun, but he knew better than to let that fact affect him too much, he need to concentrate and assure that he would meet with his cousin alive and kicking.
"Clear! Proceed out of the airport!"
They quickly went out, weapons ready as they also calmed down the citizens as far as they could. His eyes widened when they were met with sight of the town, buildings on fire and the damage made was already too much.
"Scatter in all directions! Report quickly when you found anything suspicious! Understood?"
"Understood, sir!"
Another explosion went before they finally dispersed, and of course they all knew that Daehyun would go straight to were his cousin is so they took the other directions other than that. Daehyun grabbed a citizen to ask for directions before sprinting towards the police station.
If he was fast enough, he would catch his cousin. And if he was even lucky, he hopes she's not injured.
At the sound of the second explosion, Krystal was no longer running—she was already sprinting. Damn elevator won’t work for her that she had to take the stairs. At least she wasn’t anywhere in the fifth floor of the building, or she’s sure as heck she’s already a panting mess as soon as she reached the ground floor. The other cop was on her tail, the one who had told her about the havoc outside the police station. Of all places such thing would start, it just had to be the police station. Seems like they know what place to attack first to lower security, huh?
She was barely even armed, for Christ’s sake; yet here she was, about to throw herself in the middle of a mess. At least a 9mm would’ve gotten her alive for a few minutes somehow, whatever was actually happen outside the damned building.
Before she could ever kick the door leading to the ground floor open, she had already heard gunshots. Just what the heck is happening this time?
As soon as she was out in the open, she had her gun ready. She stepped into pieces of the broken glass door, probably blown by the explosion. Who in the right mind would’ve thought of bombing the police station? Probably some whacko terrorist who happen to live in Jjin…
… or some other terrorist who has something to do with Jjin and its current source of living.
She ran towards a fallen police and checked his pulse.
Dead.
Cursing, she stood up and scanned the whole ground floor. Seems like the others had either been blown to bits, shot to death, or they could’ve ran out of the building in cowardice or to save other people. She didn’t have any more explanation. Everything seemed to have happened so fast, she could just stare at the remains of the building’s ground floor.
She turned to the other officer who stood behind her. “Secure the upper levels of the building and check if there had been any calls from the city—fast. I’ll be back up soon.” With that, she walked cautiously out of the building.
@Krystal Jung "Sir! Please! I need to get there! My cousin might be in trouble!"
"Calm down, Jung, your cousin is trained well enough to fend for herself so stop—"
"Sir, you don't understand! It's her first assignment. I'm sorry and I don't mean to impose but I need to be there! Please... I need it to calm assure myself."
The only sound heard in the room was Daehyun's and his captain's talking or more like bickering, exchanging words after words. The sniper was almost in the act of begging just to get his request be approved, he didn't care if he needed to go against his captain's order and go alone to find his cousin, heck if he wasn't so devoted to his current work, he would be on a plane already, travelling to the island even if the cost would be his occupation.
"Jung, please, calm down, you know the rumors about the island aren't still proved to be true."
"T-Then... Then let me check! I'll be the one to prove if it's true! Please, sir!"
"Jung... Fine! Get your unit ready and I'll be sending your mission report in a few minutes. Be sure you'd still be doing your mission well, don't be distracted, understood?"
"Understood sir! Thank you, sir!"
And after the so called 'conversation', Daehyun was already up and on his feet, with a respectful salute to his captain he stormed down to his waiting members, a soft grin on their faces, ready even before Daehyun told them what they were supposed to do. The mission was given to him and before you could even say 'undead', they were already on a plane going to the island called 'Jjin', the sniper's fingers gripping tightly on his rifle, rolling his lower lip between his teeth as he worried over his cousin, he might be called having a cousin-complex, but he could careless—he refused to have anyone he loves disappear again, he couldn't take it.
@Jung Daehyun If it hadn’t been for the roar of explosion just outside the building, Krystal—or more known as Lee Bona—would’ve still had her face buried in a pile of unsolved cases. Having been sent for her first operation knowing this was all she had to do within the island restrictions, she wouldn’t have agreed on it. But then again, perhaps there’s more to it than just being a damned police officer in disguise. She tried not to let it show that she was quite feeling useless when she’s the only one who sends in information about the island itself. If BSAA were to send in any reinforcements for her sake, among the others she’d be the only one who knows much about the island. Well, at least she’s got something to be cocky of. Right, cocky.
Until now she wasn’t even sure if she’d been doing a good job at her operation. It’s been over a year, almost two, when she’d been sent to Jjin. She’d given quite a fair amount of information, anything she could find about the island. Are they even planning to take her back or was she meant to be stuck here in this damned island for good? Well, she wasn’t really going to wait until she finds out.
According to her superiors, Grautaz corp. is where the island’s supplies come from. She was sent to find out as much as she could about how they even run the small island. From what she actually knows, almost the whole population actually patronizes the company. Now how was she supposed to find anything bad about them?
But it seems as though the what was currently happening outside the building was the answer to her question.
“Officer Lee!” a man came barging into the main office, in their full uniform—a bulletproof vest and armed. And then, as soon as she was told of the catastrophe, Krystal immediately made a run downstairs, a 9mm in hand.

"Fall back, soldier!"
She didn't know his name. The statement wasn't out of disrespect; it was the heat of the moment. His life was in danger, yet he continued to move towards his supposed "objective". There was a door before him and the SOA Operative, and there was a loud noise booming within their surroundings. It was coming from the very door he was trying to open.
"Shut up!" the man clad in a BSAA uniform retorted, looking back at the woman. "My team is in there!"
"Your team is dead, man! Don't you get it?! Can you not hear what's happening? Do NOT open that door, that's an order!"
Although she wasn't head of his unit, Sable Cross was still a higher rank. She would've expected him to at least think about what she was saying.
And he did.
But the hesitation wasn't for very long. In the blink of an eye, the soldier dashed for the door, causing Sable to widen her eyes.
"No, you idiot!"
Of course, it was too late. The doors were free to fly open, as they did to the swing of the soldier's arms. In the large room was a large inhuman being, it's hand raised high. With a sharp scream, the soldier was smacked down into the floor with a thunderous smack. Sable looked away before she glared.
"So that's the BOW that was clearing house...." Readying her assault rifle, she looked down at the fallen soldier. A sigh escaped her lips as her eyes quickly shifted back to the beast. "Hope it was worth it, soldier."
