@Kim Jaejoong [R] Hongki nodded lightly in respect. Warily backing away, he eyed the other's defensive position with the utmost suspicion. Stashing his sword away by his hip, he brought his spare magnet out, tapping it on the hilt of his pitch black sword. As it shrunk back into its necklace form, Hongki kept an eye on the lookout. Hopefully not letting his guard down in vain, he shifted into a casual position that wasn't too hard to defend himself in. Silently staring for a bit, he turned to leave before hesitantly turning back. "You busy?"
@Lee Hongki [R] "That's...interesting," Jaejoong nodded, his hand instinctively shifting back to the lighter in his pocket. Ira was almost scorching to the touch, burning into his leg like it couldn't wait to be freed. He backed away from Hongki, changing almost indiscernibly into a more defensive stance. "I happen to fight with both hands as well." His tone was measured and mellow, hiding his caution.
@Kim Jaejoong [R] Hongki shrugged, seemingly at ease. "I'm actually right-handed. I just taught myself to be ambidextrous. Why only fight with one hand when you have two? But really, think of me however you like." He slowly backed away from Jaejoong, visage rather dark.
@Lee Hongki [R] Jaejoong blinked, somewhat surprised. How had he managed to miss this important piece of information? It was crucial to understanding Hongki's fighting style and how he would be as an ally- or an enemy. "You're...left-handed," he blurted out, a little more loudly than he had intended. "Sinistra."
["sinistra" is latin for "left". think "sinister". they didn't like lefties back then]
@Kim Jaejoong [R] Hongki pulled off his necklace, letting the balanced black sword rest comfortably by his side. His left hand relaxed, and he looked back at the other again. He leaned back, still watching the other warily. "What the hell..." He muttered mutinously, scowling at Jaejoong. He cracked his neck and waited for the boy to plead his case.
@Lee Hongki [R] Jaejoong narrowed his eyes, trying to discern if the death god's son was lying to him or not. Unless the boy was just really good at acting, he seemed really sincere. But an icy cold feeling enveloped him and he shifted uncomfortably, hand flying to Ira automatically. He opened his mouth to say something, but remained silent when he found he didn't have anything to say.
@Kim Jaejoong [R] Hongki let a sharp gust of air blow out from his mouth in disbelief. Cocking an eyebrow, he shrugged. "Don't care about your weapon not being Roman. Why are you bringing this up?" He threw the bronze sword and caught it with his left hand and raised his right, ready to grab his necklace if need be. Suspicion flew sky high and his strange, icy aura came out to play. The brusque manner of Jaejoong was unsettling and he cursed himself for letting his guard down. Preparing himself for a fight, he stepped back.
@Lee Hongki [R] Jaejoong studied Hongki for a moment. The death god's son was definitely much more observant than he let on. It would do Jaejoong good to remember that; an observant demigod was never a good enemy. Running a hand through his hair, he smiled in falsely convincing nonchalance. "What do you mean, 'what's up'?" he laughed. "What's this, all of a sudden? If I remember correctly, you don't care." The last part of his statement came out a little more rudely than he had intended, and he immediately wished he had just remained quiet.
@Kim Jaejoong [R] Hongki went through a few more steps before halting all movements and looking the other in the eye. "What's up?" Contrary to popular belief, he was observant. He was aware of most things, even if he didn't seem like he was watching. He had provoked the son of- Nemesis? Hypnos?- he had no idea. But he was sure it wasn't any "major god". Yes, major god with air quotes.
He had long been disillusioned of superiority- everyone died, only difference being that "superior" or "mighty" people might have nicer clothes.
@Lee Hongki [R] Slightly taken aback by Hongki's sudden change in attitude, Jaejoong narrowed his eyes. He didn't want to be one of those easily offended buffoons he'd had previous experiences with, but it was in his nature to seek vengeance against those who provoked him or acted condescending. Still, he thought it best not to act upon his emotions just yet. If he released Ira and attacked the son of Hades over a possible misinterpretation, the consequences would be grave. Not to mention the fact that Jaejoong would most likely be crushed by the son of the death god.
Instead, he clenched his fingers over the lighter in his pocket, observing the other demigod in silence.
@Kim Jaejoong [R] Hongki shrugged, eyes following the lighter before flicking back up to Jaejoong's face. "Do I look like I care?" He plucked the sword out of the ground easily. The weight balanced evenly in his hand and he fell into the easy patterns of swinging and swishing. He backed away from the other, deciding to just go through all the different forms he had learned since. Even as he went through the practiced movements, he never stopped trying to match a weapon to Jaejoong.
"You were pretty famous around camp, you know," Jaejoong said, raising an eyebrow. "And I..." He hesitated, not sure what to say. "I do have a weapon, but I'd prefer not to bring it out. It's not very Roman." Noticing the slight discomfort on Hongki's face, he promptly stopped mindlessly spinning his lighter and shoved it back into his pocket.
@Kim Jaejoong [R] "Guess we're not going to spar- unless you have your own weapon, of course." Hongki remarked flippantly. He stood for a bit, then tilted his head, trying to see Jaejoong's expression. From what he could see, the other seemed to be blushing- wait, what?- Nodding slowly, he cleared his throat. "How do you know my name? I don't believe we've met before."
He watched Jaejoong fiddle around with a lighter- and again, what- which, for some reason, made him feel uneasy. He tapped the magnet on the hilt of his sword and returned it to his neck.
@Lee Hongki [R] Jaejoong flushed in embarrassment, suddenly developing a deep interest in the laces of his shoes. "I hate them," he admitted. "I'm Kim Jaejoong. And you're Lee Hongki, correct?" He stood, pulling his lighter out of his pocket and turning it around in his hand. He saw no point in using it; Hongki didn't seem arrogant enough to incur the wrath of Nemesis.
@Kim Jaejoong [R] Hongki sighed out of his nose, head turned to face the dummy. "Don't lie, you're not comfortable with swords at all, huh?" He strode over to where his sword had been flung, a good twenty or so feet to the right of his partner. He picked it up gingerly, making sure there wasn't any damage done. He stuck it in the ground by - "What's your name?"- feet.
@Lee Hongki [R] Jaejoong crossed his sword across his chest to block the blow, but misjudged its weight. His lightweight sword flew out of his hand at the force from Hongki's strike and he shot backwards, stumbling and hitting the ground with a not-so-attractive thump that completely knocked the wind out of him. Groaning, he stood unsteadily and dusted himself off. Although he was used to being thrown around like a ragdoll, it still hurt to be his so hard.
[[my replies are slowly but surely getting cruddier]]
@Kim Jaejoong [R] Hongki observed the stance, which looked essentially correct- but was off in some strange way... He raised one eyebrow before stepping back and falling into a natural stance. He circled around the other guy slowly, eyes seeking out the weak points- pressure points, major arteries, chinks in his skeletal structure before flicking back up to his face. He stared at his fellow Roman, watching him, circling him with the intent of making him uneasy.
He stayed like that for a good amount of time before striking- quick and powerful, right at his chest.
@Lee Hongki [R] Jaejoong swallowed nervously as he eyed the sword in front of him. "I'm comfortable with them," he lied, pulling it out of the dirt. The weapon felt too light, unbalanced, and awkward in his unskilled hands. Despite endless practice, he had never been able to develop skill with a sword. His mother, who never spared her children from the prices she demanded, made sure of that. Falling into what he hoped was a correct stance, he nodded at Hongki to start and prepared himself for the worst.
@Kim Jaejoong [R] Hongki's lips twitched upwards slightly, before returning to it's regular impassive form. "Thought so." He walked slowly past the horribly disfigured dummy, kicking it to the side as he walked up to a celestial bronze sword. He picked up the sword with disdain written all over his face. The metal flashed in the sun and he stabbed it into the dirt near the other guy.
Hongki always carried around the sword, even if he preferred his Stygian iron blade. His black sword, Abyssus, was a gift from his father- of course he preferred it.
@Lee Hongki [R] "Yeah, I'm Roman," Jaejoong replied, his casual tone masking his panic. Sparring with Hongki was sparring with death itself, both literally and figuratively. However, he somehow couldn't deny the request. "Do you have any extra weapons?" he asked, absentmindedly fiddling with the lighter in his pocket, the gift his mother, Nemesis, had given him many years ago. Though it was precious to him and it had come at a steep price, he didn't want to use it in front of others.
@Kim Jaejoong [R] Hongki raised his eyebrows slightly. He hooked his necklace around his neck slowly, dark eyes analyzing the person facing him. His expression was unreadable as he clasped the blacl necklace around his neck. "You're Roman, right?" Cracking his neck as he strode toward the other boy, he tried to put a name to the somewhat familiar face. Shrugging when he could not remember the boy, Hongki resorted to just asking an ambiguous question.
@Lee Hongki [R] Jaejoong turned around, eyes slightly wide in the disbelief that Lee Hongki was actually speaking to him. He wasn't sure whether to feel honored, nervous, or just plain threatened, especially considering that the son of Hades probably just wanted him as a sparring partner. Jaejoong was not prepared to be completely pulverized like the dummy had been. He chewed his lip, but put on his best disinterested face. "What?" he asked, hoping he didn't sound too rude.
@Kim Jaejoong [R] Hongki swept his bangs out of his eyes and grabbed his sword out of the dirt, swinging it. He swung the sword in a circle around him before arcing it up, jumping and then landing with the tip of his sword at the throat of the dummy. Glancing at his sword, he quickly stood up and dusted himself off, to face the retreating figure. Flipping his hair out of his eyes again, he called out. "Hey, you." He tapped the hilt of his sword with the spare magnet, returning it to necklace form.
@Lee Hongki [R] Jaejoong carefully stepped into the arena, looking around for any signs of movement. If he was lucky, the arena would be empty and he would have the opportunity to practice using his mother's gift, the one weapon that didn't feel awkward and unbalanced in his hands. Of course, he had no such luck. There was already another demigod practicing, and it was /Lee Hongki/, no less. /The/ Lee Hongki, son of Hades, somewhat scary enigma, secretive loner, mysterious heartthrob, etc., etc., etc. Jaejoong couldn't help but feel a pang of jealousy, not for the fact that half the girls at Camp Jupiter had a not-so-secret crush on the son of death, but for the respect that he commanded, and the grace with which he handled his pitch-black blade. Sighing, he turned to leave, his mother's gift icy cold in his pocket.
[[hope you don't mind the part about le hunky one being a heartthrob o/]]
@Kim Jaejoong [R] Hongki grabbed his necklace, facing the little dummy he built. The black stone felt colder than ever and he tore the necklace off in one swift motion. The magnets on the clasp of his necklace popped and the necklace swung through the air, elongating and turning into a long blur of black. Smirking as the weight of his black Stygian iron sword balanced, he charged at the makeshift dummy, scattering it.
He stabbed his sword into the ground, crossing his arms and waiting for a worthy opponent.
@Jung Jinyoung [G] She nodded, still a bit embarrassed for the damage she already costs. "Well that's good. i kinda don't want to break anything that's not mine." she took a step back away from the dummy and watched as Jinyoung modeled some stances.
"I see... so like this?" she mimicked one of his stances gracefully and looked up at him for confirmation. It just felt natural for her for some reason although she did not have any previous training.

Naeun refused to believe the goat-man at first. The goat-man offered her a place at Camp Half-Blood and that if she ever changed her mind, all she had to do was go to the dark alleyway where she fought the manticore on a bright sunny afternoon. The next day, Naeun thought about his offer and she decided to go to that camp of his. After all, she knew she didn't belong with the regular humans ever since she was young. The goat-man smiled knowingly when he found her at the dark alleyway the following day. He brought her to a camp. The moment she stepped on camp grounds, a symbol was seen floating above her head. "All hail Son Naeun, daughter of lord Hades, god of the underworld." A centaur said. Oh yes, the symbol seen was the helm of darkness.

He didn't really know what this camp was all about, but he knew one thing for sure. Sehun knew that his real father wasn't a normal human, no, he was a God. Even if he had never met him, he still kept hoping one day, maybe, it would happen.

Time zone & writing style: (GMT-5) Para, Semi-Para if I'm mobile.
Greek or Roman: Roman
Years they've been at camp & Age: 2 years at Camp Jupiter & 17 Years old
Godly parent/ancestry/etc: Pluto / Hades
Writing Sample: DaeHyun narrowed his eyes, wondering why he'd been chosen to be sent to this camp. Perhaps it was yet another laugh of fate at him, and by the Gods, he knew they loved messing with him. He hitched his bag up on his shoulder before boldly making his way towards what he expected to be an empty dorm. It being a child of Pluto, most people tended to be afraid of him and stayed away, which made making friends really hard. He blew his blonde bangs upwards before settling his bag down onto the cabin bunk. This would be an interesting time...
