@Lee Jieun [R] Hongki felt some sort of twisted pleasure at seeing her struggle internally- he knew her that well. He blew his bangs up slightly, puffing out his cheeks and watching the hair out of his face before turning to face her. He lounged across the grassy surface, back against another step, still playing with the flower. He faced her, face prodigiously blank. A small smirk crawled its way up halfway, faltering before it met his eyes.
Never breaking his gazing at her, he the delicate petals of the flower, before pulling one out quickly and saying in a mocking mutter, "She loves me..." and pulling another in succession, followed by a dramatized sigh of "She loves me not." He continued this pattern, slowly ripping out the petals of the flower and yet never moving his stare away from her.
...
"She loves me not." He finished softly. By this time, the flower had withered, it's once-pure beauty crumbling away, the petals torn crudely and the stem wilting and drooping despondently. He threw the flower down by his feet and crushed the flimsy stem into pulp, grinding it with the heel of his foot. Turning away from her, he faced the sunny meadow of the Amphitheater. "Excellent. I have no plans either. Let's get to know each other... again." He sprang up with all the grace of a feline, landing silently on the grassy step nearer to her.
[[ I just realized the many mistakes I made. ;A; ]]
Was it weird that she didn’t feel a slight bit hesitant to leave although her feet felt glued to the floor? The mental turmoil caused by the abundance of decision-making and old memories agitated her. It made her stay, but she was reluctant to show the obvious remorse on her face. Jieun was able to consume the annoyance and perturbation that the other gave off in a strong, tense vibe. His acts somewhat condemned her, but all she did was sneer in the direction she was facing.
His voice shot through her, deriding her in such a way that made her lips twist into a slight grimace. The tone and sound of his voice /should/ tense her, but surprisingly, it didn’t. Instead, all she felt was sorrow. The only solution she came up for his deliberate actions was the previous aura that seemed to linger around them-- uncomfort. She saw through his intentional behavior once again.
As she was about to retort to his question, another was thrown at her. Although she was able to read him clearly, it still flustered her. She slowly turned to face him, unsure of what was to be given from the choice she made. Her eyes made its way to his, seeing it occupied to the ground. She cringed at the abrupt movement made, waiting until she was at ease. “Actually,” she started off in a mutter,”I don’t have any plans. But it seemed that I was becoming a bit of a bother.”
@Lee Jieun [R] She was going to leave. Panic shot through him- did he really want to end it on this note? She made it like this, some part of him remarked bitterly. She was the one distant despite your efforts, it snarled. Seeing a good amount of remorse and embarrassment on her face only partially mollified him- he still remembered how hurt after the break up he was, of course. He huffed in dismissal of her apology, struggling to stand strong.
He looked away and mentally slapped himself. /You fool, are you going to let her go so easily?/ His foot angled itself towards her, but otherwise his body language only portrayed his hostility and inner turmoil. His face twisted in a scowl as he directed his gaze away from her. Regaining control of his temper, he sat back down, deceivingly unaware of her leaving.
"Leaving so soon after our /pleasant/ little chat, Jieun..?" He mocked, twirling his finger around in the lush, green grass, watching as a nearby flower withered ever-so-slightly. He dragged out her name with a small lilt, allowing his usual breezy, dark-humored tone to appear back and color his words. "Where are you off to in such a hurry? Am I not pleasant company?" He asked, unintentional venom beneath his amiable tone. Dexterous hands, roughened from sword fighting, quickly ripped the flower out of the dirt. His back was to her and he twisted his head delicately, to hold her back in his vision.
@Lee Hongki [R] Jieun’s eyes widened at the three words that came out of . She didn’t mean to say that—it was more like something she said subconsciously, but she said that, it would be counted as ridiculous. She analyzed the aspect of his face, seeing the way he looked at her. She felt embarrassed, abashed, disconcerted, but it all faded away when she continued to observe him. His mouth… it was hesitant to speak. The way it opened, but nothing came out eased her. He was just as flustered as she was.
She continued to examine his actions, writing every single one of them in her mind as her assay grew. Guilt was what she felt. Although she didn’t do anything that seemed erroneous, the intention of making everything around them so uncomfortable never occurred to her. She wanted to apologize to him—apologize for saying something so absurd, for being so ludicrous, and just for existing. But the need to atone didn’t seem mandatory.
He put his attention back to her. She was wrong. He seemed as confident and agile as he originally was. But the way he stuttered argued with her thoughts, assuring her that she /was/ right. The ice barrier that dressed his being, melted. But she couldn’t let him feel that. She didn’t want him to appear as humiliated as she did. Instead, she nodded in dismay, acting oblivious to his behavior. “Sorry,” she whispered to him so he could hear. She closed her eyes, turning her body to face the entrance of where she had come from. She took a small step, only feeling a slight hope that he would beg her not to go. But she knew it was impossible.
@Shin Yoonjo [R] Min's big, cat-like eyes to the person who was intruding her solitariness. Her fingers stopped expertly swirling the knife around the bark and sheathed, although she kept her hand around the hilt, wary of the obvious, purple-shirted Roman. "Nothing, why?" She watched her with no sign of emotion.
@Lee Jieun [R] /Don't go./ Hongki stood stock still, just blankly staring at her. His mind short circuited and he looked at her, like a fool. His muscles turned to jelly, refusing to move. He watched her without really seeing and he opened his mouth to make a sharp remark about how sure he was that she missed him, with the whole I'm-dating-you-but-I'm-still-being-extremely-distant period as evidence.
Nothing came out, however, and one of his signature scathing remarks failed to protect him. He sighed and turned away, not sure how to respond. /I missed you./ He steeled himself, tried not to let her get to him- but it still struck him to the core in a flash of blinding light that only he could see.
Damn it, damn it, damn it. Damn this camp, damn the gods, damn her, and damn him too.
He turned back to face her, looking at her blankly. Self preservation shot up, and he blanked out his eyes, his face, even making his body language scarily neutral. "I... I see." He replied, tone dead. He fought the urge to return her sentiments and for a moment, he was sure that the battle shone through his eyes before he caught it and wrestled it down.
But it was too late. More likely than not, she had noticed it.
Yoonjo stopped humming as she heard a few scratching sound, her just closed eyes shot open as she stared at the distance. Nothing, all she can see is just some girls and boys chatting and giggling together. She closed her eyes again, but then, she heard it again. "How weird.." She muttered as she stood up, looking for the source of the sound. She can't help but to be curious, you know... Curiosity kills the cat. She sense someone on the other side as she slowly peek from her side of the tree. It was a girl, carving the other side of the tree. She frowned, she loved the nature, she didn't like it when people hurt the nature, but seeing the chance to befriend the girl, she smiled and act like she was fine with everything, "What are you doing?"
@Shin Yoonjo [R] Annoyed and disgusted by the loud giggling of the Aphrodite girls flirting with the handsome Apollo guys, Min stumbled away from the main circle of people, feeling her claustrophobia trigger at the close-pressed bodies.
Her dagger, which was slipped away in its sheath, hit her leg every time she walked and it wobbled on her belt. Feeling bored, annoyed, and alone, she pulled out the knife and began carve away at a big oak tree, making random shapes and lines and completely unaware of the person leaning on it from the other side.
Yoonjo bit her lip. At the distance, she could see the others chatting among each others. It was already a few weeks that she has arrived, and yet, she never even talks to anyone. She didn't like it to be lonely, but she was too scared to make friends. Back at her hometown, she always socialized with her cousins, so it was not a big deal that no one wanted to talk to her, but now... Now that she have no one at her side, she feels how to be lonely, she feels scared. No matter how bold Yoonjo can be, she's still a tiny fragile little girl on heart. Yoonjo let out a sigh as her back rest at the big oak tree, as she hummed a calm lullaby.
@Lee Hongki [R] Jieun felt her eye twitch at the intimidating silence. The lull made her even more bothered, making her lament. As his smirk fell, she knew a misinterpretation had occurred. She rolled her eyes slightly, biting her lower lip. The stare shared between them lasted for a long period of time—their gazes penetrating into each other’s souls. The glare he gave her right before speaking, bestowed various amounts of goose bumps crawling across her arms. She avoided his gaze, turning her sight to a leaf on the ground.
Once the latter had responded, she felt a small lump form in . The way the tone of his voice rang through her ears gave her slight chills down her spine. A certain ‘pang’ was hit on her chest, as she swallowed the lump to ease it. Although she wasn’t observing his actions or anything, she felt him willing to go, but still remaining at the very spot. She took a deep breath, inhaling it in such a loud way. She should just let him walk away-- let him leave just like how everyone else does, but she couldn’t.
Turning her face back to his, she her inner cheek and bit on it. She had no idea how to make him stay. “Don’t go,” she muttered in such a reticent manner that it was impossible to be heard. But Jieun knew that if she wanted him to stay, she had to do something about it—and she was planning on fulfilling that duty. But.. how?
As her mind ran through discrete conversation starters, spoke on its own, “I.. missed you.”
@Lee Jieun [R] Hongki just looked down and examined his nails, smirk falling, his straight face taking it's place again. Looking up again, he was met by her eyes studying his, but if he was surprised, it didn't show. No sir, he was brought up to be alone and that's how he lived now. Even so, he fixed his black eyes, which were so dark as to the point of being dark blue in different lighting, upon the girl for whom he had almost bared himself to.
He studied her, read her like a book. He was observant and let no other demigod tell you anything else. He watched the blush fill in her cheeks, for what, the third time since he bumped into her? He watched as she turned her eyes away, and automatically he checked her hands. If he thought he knew her as well as he did, then she would be clenching her fists- kudos to you, Lee Hongki. He stood there and let the silence engulf them. He made no move to speak.
He waited and watched her before actually finishing off what meager conversation had been shared between them. He let her feel, perhaps for the first time in a couple years, the real deal of a Hades stare. One with questions and answers of death, one that made you think that you were in a casket already. He looked away after a couple seconds before clearing his throat and arching his eyebrow. "Excellent. If you have anything more to say, say it now."
He had no intent on dragging this awkward conversation on- but wanted to get back to his dorm and draw and draw and draw. He needed to rid himself of the painful drive that told him to sketch out her smooth features and rid himself of his weaknesses. He shrugged, turned to face the way back to camp and looked back at her, waiting for a reply.
@Lee Hongki [R] The way he looked at her—that was something she could never forget. His stare was filled with longing and passion, but covered by a wall of cement that didn’t want to break down. Even before, Jieun’s never found out the reason for his actions. She never had the guts to ask him either since it seemed too personal. They /were/ pretty much devoted to each other, but that didn’t mean she had the right to ask. It also didn’t mean her curiosity wasn’t piqued. Hongki was someone that she cared for dearly and although a cold expression was normal to be seen on him, she still wondered for the reason. But that was before, or so she thought.
His response was short and lacking, but she was still satisfied with it. She didn’t expect much, knowing the personality he had. Though what really /did/ shock her was what he displayed afterwards. A smirk. Jieun was uncertain of how to feel towards the action. Was she bothered? Was she… nervous? A slight scoff from her lips answered her question, as she raised her brows at him.
“Look, uhm. What I said before, y’know, when I said you ‘looked great,’ I wasn’t, uh, trying to imply anything…” she averted her eyes as soon as she gave her explanation. She felt herself blush, resulting her to give a soft cough, only hoping it would distract his attention. She surreptitiously dug her nails into her palms - a bad habit she’s always had-, frustrated at her own words. She didn’t know why, but today, she’s been regretting many things that she's said. Her last statement only made her wish that he didn’t misinterpret what she was trying to say.
[[ super sorry for the late reply. ;A; and sorry if it's not good cos my mind's all over right now rksfdiosnjgv ]]
@Lee Jieun [R] Hongki sighed softly, still carefully maintaining his disinterested facade, one he was proud of. He could boast of letting no emotion show through, no matter the moment- but each moment, each second ripped a gash in his wall of boredom, letting his rusty, tarnished emotions spill out. They had tarnished and were clearly unwanted but now they made their tentative ways out and wormed their way into his mind. His mental wall was falling and he didn't know what to do.
So he let his eyes roam. He let his eyes trace over her familiar features longingly, let the image sink into his brain so deeply that when he blinked, she was engraved into the back of his eyelids. He looked away briefly, as if to erase her- if only it was that easy. But no, he was Lee Hongki and everything that could go wrong would go wrong. He could feel his hands start to twitch, feel them start the smooth that outlined her face.
Broken from his reverie and a bit jarred by her sudden question and comments- he flicked his eyes towards her. However, he did maintain a firm grasp upon his mask, holding it together by a mere thread. He took a deep breath, trying to calm himself, before really analyzing her body language and questions. She was stuttering, his brain told him. It's a sign of nervousness, it continued. But that's where it stopped.
"Fine. You?" His voice had dropped into a huskier octave, a bit thicker from the onslaught of emotions and from his silence previously. Not knowing what else to say, he just shrugged and let an easy smirk crawl up his face.
@Lee Hongki [R] Jieun didn’t fail to notice the hesitant smile that Hongki formed. She frowned a bit, disappointed to see the blank expression he usually wore. Though, she was more than lucky to be one of the few that got to see the sight of his rare smile. The memories crashed to her once again. She immediately shook them off by looking to the right of the other, staring at the rest of her surroundings. Why was it so hard to communicate with him? Where’d everything go wrong?
As the question was sent to her, Jieun responded with a slight nod as she fumbled with the bracelet around her wrist. The slight pain lingered around her ankle, but she chose to ignore it. An attempt of easing the pain by adding pressure to it, failed. She sighed. Was there anything else she could say? She didn’t want to end the conversation so abruptly, so quickly. But why not? Everything was in the past. They had nothing to do with each other as of now. So, what made her feel so attached to him?
She left the questions in her mind, turning back to meet Hongki’s gaze—his circular eyes boring into hers. Something about them were so… attracting. How come she never noticed the beauty in them before? “H-how have you been?” she asked him before mentally slapping herself for showing a sign of being unnerved. Though, she tried to cover it up by adding on, “It’s been so long since I’ve last seen you. I-uh, you look great.” Regretting the last few words she said, Jieun clenched her teeth, but continued to put up a smile.
@Lee Jieun [R] Pursing his lips into a tight line, Hongki nodded once in response to her greeting, letting his eyes wander over the nicely lit grassy amphitheater. He wet his lips, trying to work up the nerve to say something, to convey that he was not feeling as awkward as he really was. She laughed lightly, and his lips automatically started to twitch upwards before he caught himself and pinned them down. "Are you alright?" He continued on in a tone of polite disinterest.
But memories caught up with him, and he found himself looking at her lips before he could stop himself. He bit his lip and looked away for a moment, internally berating himself. Apparently, holding feelings for a long time was also a flaw of Pluto's- or rather, Hades'- children. His fatal flaw was holding grudges, and he knew that, tried to work around that but to no avail. And now he found that grudges were not the only things that stuck.
She was blushing, he noted. Perhaps she found this meeting just as awkward as he did? But did it really matter- they had broken it off a year or so ago when she had become distant, hard to reach. And yet, he wondered why he was so attached to her- they had been set up by friends, not that he had any. They were destined to fail from the start. Now that he sorted it out all logically, why couldn't he walk away?
@Lee Hongki [R] Jieun felt somewhat uncomfortable under Hongki’s gaze. She tried not to fidget, already embarrassed from the accident she had caused. She sprang up with a cough as she tried to regain herself. She analyzed him-- his features, expression, and everything else. Her gaze roamed from the top of his head, all the way down to his clad feet. She tried to perceive any sort of contrast about the male, her cheeks heating up when her thoughts only lead her to the moments they had shared before. She avoided his stare, not sure of how to feel.
Her mind had brought her back to her previous question. /Why was he here?/ She was ridiculous to have asked that, for she had already known the answer. Camp Jupiter and Camp Half-Blood had combined into one, but she was still quite surprised. She never expected to see him once more. Her pondering was disturbed when she heard a soft, yet short noise. She looked back at Hongki, only to see his gaze on her.
She quickly turned away before her cheeks decided to color once again, but this time, with a side of sweaty palms. The awkward silence became too overwhelming for her as she felt flustered, trying to gather up the courage to say something. She looked back at him, allowing her eyes to travel his face. The same face she’d met just only a few years ago. Jieun’s lips tugged up a bit, her brows slightly furrowed.
“Hi.” She greeted him as she gave an eye-smile. She conveyed a soft brief laugh, hoping it wasn’t actually as awkward as she thought it was.
@Lee Jieun [R] Hongki kept walking until something slammed right into him. Slightly confused, he looked around for a tree. Last he checked, he was the only one around at this time of day- others were training. Hearing a gasp, he looked around him, before focusing on a figure laying in a heap at his feet. Just his luck- it had to be the one person he had been trying to avoid-
"Jieun." His voice was clipped and curt, cut short by surprise. His eyes flickered down to her shoes- which were somewhat messily tied- at least in his standards, like they always used to be- Snap out of it, Lee Hongki. He sighed through his nose and turned away, facing the sunnier half of the amphitheater. He looked at her ungraceful position, her squinting eyes and shocked expression and a lump came up in his throat.
He swallowed it inconspicuously, not wanting to show any kind of weakness. He flipped his bangs out of his eyes- it had fallen when he crashed into Jieun- and fixed his stare on her, studying her expressions. Seriously, of all the people in this god damned camp, it had to be her. He was uncomfortable, that was for sure. Maybe in the past he would have let every emotion show clearly- but he had grown. Grown from a frail adolescent, filled into his frame- years of training had toughened him up. He knew he had changed.
Did she change as well? Not too much, he thought wryly, considering the way she was lying in a heap at his feet.
@Lee Hongki [R] Jieun was trudging her way through the leveled steps of the grassy amphitheater as she inhaled the breezy air. To her misfortune, it smelled nothing near freshly baked cookies, the aroma of a newly-bloomed flower, or anything near pleasant. Her thoughts were asinine, of course. She was never such an outdoor type of girl anyways. She leaned on more to the type of being isolated, for she always felt more secure indoors.
Looking down on her feet, she noticed her untied laces. Jieun bent down to the floor carefully, sitting down as soon as she reached the ground. Images of her falling ran through her head because of the tier of paths. A slight chuckle was produced from as she thought about the face she’d wear when tumbling down. It was odd of her to think of a situation like that, yes, but Jieun was that disparate. Standing back up, she fixed her poise and admired the sky.
Being preoccupied, she continued walking around, not bothering to take in the rest of her surroundings. Step by step, she traveled a short distance until she bumped into something quite large. Her legs tangled up into a knot, falling down on the stairs of grass. Ignoring the wincing pain she felt on her body, she looked up to see a male-- someone quite familiar, in fact. She squinted her eyes to ease her vision as a gasp was elicited from her. Why was he here?
@Lee Jieun [R] Hongki strolled along the well worn paths of the amphitheater, walking on the edge. He put one foot before the other, one after a time, wobbling slightly. He looked up at the sky, covered by numerous leaves and looked back down at the sun dappled ground. He teetered after being distracted by the rustling leaves of a tree above and fell onto the lower step. Blowing his bangs out of his eyes, he sat down and ran his fingers over the cold stone.
Just sitting and doing nothing left his mind to wander back to the sunny days of Camp Jupiter. A little too far back for his tastes, really. He sprang back up, hoping his mind did not walk down the path of relationships- and it was too late. He remembered the fluttering eyes of girls and winks and everything. But his mind focuses on one particular girl--
He shakes his head, trying to clear it, before meandering along the amphitheater again, not paying too much attention to his surroundings.
@Kwon Yuri [R] The androgynous girl's eyes flew open when she heard a voice and she immediately sat up, tightening her grip on her bow. But she relaxed and loosened her hold on her bow when she saw it was a female camper. On all her two years there, she had never seen the other girl. Bowing her head slighting, Amber said, "Hello. I'm Amber, daughter of Apollo. Haven't seen you around before."
@Kwon Yuri [R] Amber flopped onto the top grassy steps of the amphitheater, completely and utterly done with the day. Sadly, it was only morning, almost afternoon. Humming softly, the short-haired girl continued to lie on the ground with her eyes closed. As usual, her golden bow laid next to her, her right hand gripping it loosely. The gold was a little too flashy in her opinion, but she supposed she could forgive the sun god for that.
((Nah it's fine. Mine is really short too since I'm on mobile OTL))
@Kris Wu [R] She rolled her eyes and didn't bother to respond to the other's teasing. "Wha....?" The girl looked down at her bow before looking up at the male with a somewhat confused look. "T-thanks," she muttered, turning her attention back to her golden bow. If there was anything she was proud of and valued above all else, it was that bow. It came with the bag currently slung over her shoulder, which was filled with matching arrows.
Seolhyun walks around and sees some people but decides to enjoy her free time alone. So, she lays against a big tree while humming to some song with her earphones on. She looks at everything around her and decides to climb up and sit on the tree's strong branches. She takes her earphones and iPod with and climbed up to the tree slowly. After a while, she successfully climbed up and seat on a branch. She looks down and sighs in awe "Wow~ I should come up here more often" she smiles and take out her iPod and put on earphones to listen to some music.

Writing Sample: DaeHyun narrowed his eyes, wondering why he'd been chosen to be sent to this camp. Perhaps it was yet another laugh of fate at him, and by the Gods, he knew they loved messing with him. He hitched his bag up on his shoulder before boldly making his way towards what he expected to be an empty dorm. It being a child of Pluto, most people tended to be afraid of him and stayed away, which made making friends really hard. He blew his blonde bangs upwards before settling his bag down onto the cabin bunk. This would be an interesting time...
