@son dongwoon "At the inn? Oh, no. I am not. I currently live at the dorm, very close to the campus university! But..when I finish my final exam, I will have to leave..I think. So then it's back on the streets for me! I don't have enough money yet for a house so..I think I will make lots of friends so that I can kind of..couch surf around them until I have enough money. And..unfortunately I don't really remember. But..I will go to the hospital soon and..ask them if anyone maybe remembers me. I doubt they will though. I changed so much..the only thing that stayed the same is my eyesmile."
Jeno nodded firmly and looked down at the treats before glancing up at the male again. "I got hit in the orphanage I was in. Every time something wouldn't go well, it would be either me or the other kids. It was me quite a lot of times actually. It was because..well, I was always very happy and always protecting the other kids so..I guess I was an easy target somehow?"
@lee jeno Jeno's story almost touched his little heart. Almost. He believed that instead of pity, it was respect that he'd feel for the boy. After all, it was the other's choices that had led to his current situation. And to survive how many years living like that? Quite the story for such a young one. The latter made him remember his old life- he had parents, a given. But the life they prepared for him? It led to the growth of his dislike towards the pair. He was grateful for some parts, but he would never be happy managing such businesses.
With the sweet confections drowning the heavy feelings off him, he turned to Jeno. "Say kid, are you currently staying at the inn?" Dongwoon asked, head tipped slightly to the side as he did. "Mm, do you still remember who that doctor was?"
@son dongwoon Jeno smiled and took the tissue, softly pressing it against his wet eyes before shaking his head slowly, putting the tissue down on the table. "No. I..don't have parents. I used to live in the orphanage but I escaped and stuff. Can you believe that I saw a kid getting adopted every day? But I was never..anyways, I escaped and started living on the streets. I found a nice abandoned home I could sleep in until it had to be destroyed. So..on the other hand, my car accident was great to me. I had to stay a year and a half. A year and a half with nice people around you, good food, a good and warm resting place. It was like heaven to me." He said with the biggest eye smile.
"Until I had to leave. I had fully recovered..I knew how to walk again. So I had to leave. Back to the streets. The doctor that was taking care of me wanted to take me in desperately but his wife wasn't allowing it. I never hated or disliked him for it. I just want to be able to visit him and show him how mature I became."
@lee jeno Dongwoon listened as Jeno talked, still busy stuffing his mout with his ordered sweets. It wasn't that it wasn't interesting, he was just unable to focus on only one thing. Taking another sip from the cup of tea, he looked at Jeno as the other finished talking.
"That's one deep story, kid. To be... A hero huh? That's a nice goal in life". He nodded at that, handing Jeno a tissue. "I think you need this. So the accident put you in a crippled state? It's good to see you walking again. Were you with your parents when the accident happened?"
@son dongwoon Jeno smiled a bit and took a sip of his chocolate milk before setting it back down and leaning a bit forward. "When I was young, around the age of 6, I got into a horrible car accident. I didn't lose any limbs or something but I broke a lot of bones in my body and I had a concussion. There had to be surgery done and I was on the brink of death. But one man, my hero..he saved me. He made sure I am still alive and well. He helped me with everything. He sat by my side as I was asleep. I was in a coma for about..6 months. And he never left my side. Well, he did have to go home and such but you get what I mean. Anyways, like I said, he helped me with everything. I had lost the ability to walk, so he helped me through that. He basically taught me how to walk again. He is..truly my hero. And that's what I want to be for someone else. I want to be their hero. Someone's hero." Jeno said with a small smile on his face, quickly wiping away a tear that was threatening to roll down his cheek.
@lee jeno "A good point. I may just be having feeling of sudden guilt from this case", Dongwoon replied with a small smile, hints of bashfulness painting his features. Taking the cup of tea in his hands, he took a sip, the lemon taste refreshing his mind of constant disarray. It had left him with a light and bitter aftertaste, something he always liked about such drinks.
"Correct, you'll have to finish that first. And then apply for the hospital I'm at- the rest however, I can take care of". He continued, his other hand digging into the creamy cake once again. "What made you think of going into such a tiring job, Jeno?"
@son dongwoon "Hey, I told you I'm finishing up. I only have my final exam. I don't even have class anymore..it's just studying and working my jobs. I have a whole lot saved up now anyways." Jeno mumbled and leaned back, taking a sip of his chocolate milk, the whipped cream off of his lip, while softly tapping his fingers on the table.
"That's fine by me. But I guess I have to finish my school first, hmm?" He mumbled softly and took another bite of the donut, humming softly in delight before sitting up properly.
@lee jeno "You /still/ are in medical school, kid", Dongwoon argued in a clam voice. He remembered how it was 6 years ago- paying for the studies took him working three jobs, so Jeno having less for the month could just put him in a tight spot. Then again, shrugging the thought away, people make their own choices.
Taking a donut as the other suggested, "Hm, but I'm either in a lab or the E.R- if that's alright with you, then i see no problem?" He replied, stuffing his mouth with the treat. "That's going to be two years at least to decide what you're going to specialize in, my case however, I'm a trauma surgeon. For the most part, at least-".
@son dongwoon "Yeah, that's not a problem for me. I'll just have bit less money this month then, but it's okay. I work at another place." Jeno chuckled and nodded slowly, tapping his fingers on the table. "Right. Feel free to help yourself to a donut as well, if you'd like. But..yes..I don't need money in exchange. But remember how we talked about landing an internship at the hospital? So basically just being your protégé. I'd like that. I am almost done with medical school actually. Busy with my final exams now and when I pass them, you could basically call me a doctor." Jeno hummed and took a glazed donut in his hand, taking a bite out of it.
@lee jeno "So you really are willing huh?" Dogwoon was honestly amazed at Jeno. A laugh of awe escaped his lips as he watched the other run off, opening the book he had brought with him as he waited. He was sure that all of his orders were quite the tragic hit for the boy's salary. It was better that he wasn't indebted.
As Jeno came back, his attention was brought to the tray the other was carrying, a smile growing on his features as he took a fork, digging into the cake. "So kid, what do you want in exchange for the free treats?" He asked, stuffing his mouth with the creamy cake. "Mm, by the way, take some as you please". He was indeed addicted to sweet things, but it didn't mean he became stingy when it came to those.
@son dongwoon "Oh, I didn't think you'd get that much..heh..well, it's okay! I will make sure it gets taken off of my pay." Jeno smiled brightly and jotted down everything the male ordered before nodding quickly. "Give me a little bit!" Jeno rushed off to where the coffee and everything was being made, getting a tray from the counter as he carefully put everything the male had ordered on the tray, getting a chocolate milk with extra whipped cream and glazed doughnuts for himself as he walked back to the male with the tray in hands. "Here we are!" He exclaimed happily and placed the tray down on the table before sitting across of the male. "Okay! Let's talk!"
@lee jeno "it did, unfortunately. But it meant I had more time away from work alone". He finished with a grin. Perhaps the cheery aura Jeno gave off was too strong for an influence- he was not one to smile often.
"I wouldn't mind to catch up with things, but are you sure you're going to take my orders for free?" he asked, brows furrowed as he closed the menu on his hands. He was planning to go all out today and he was sure it'd too much if it were free- however, if Jeno insisted, 'why not?' he thought. Without waiting for a reply, he started to speak. "I want a whole of that tres leches cake, a slice each of vanilla cheesecake, that lemon.. Cream torte? And that chocolate buttercream cake- for drinks I guess... Just lemon tea?"
@son dongwoon "Yes! Exactly! The guy that wanted an internship and the one that promised to keep any insects away from you." Jeno laughed softly, his eyes forming into crescent moon shapes. "Oh, hey, let me take your order. I could go on a break and we could..catch up a bit, if you'd like? The little camping trip ended so abruptly that I didn't even get to say bye to you."
"So..what are you having? And hey, don't worry about me, it's on me." He smiled brightly and held onto his pen and notepad, ready to jot down the male's order.
@lee jeno The moment he heard the barista's voice, he was already hit with a sense of familiarity for the other. A few moments into trying to recall, it was already done for him. Still, he couldn't remember! With a small smile of confusion and a half-raised hand, he looked at the other. "Give me a few moments to remember-" his brows furrowed as he dug through his memories from the camp, and there!
"You... Were... The one who wanted an internship? Correct?" He asked, clearly unsure. He was aware that he really at remembering people's faces and names. "Ah, one who promised to keep the insects away?"
@son dongwoon Jeno was busy cleaning something behind the counter and heard the door open before he yelled out without looking back at the person that came in. "I will be right with you!" He continued on cleaning before taking a notepad and a pen, walking over to the customer. "Hey, can I..wait..don't I know you? Uhh..your name was..Dongwoon! Yes, hey! It's me! Jeno! Remember from when we went camping?" He asked with the brightest smile showing on his face as he squeezed the notepad in his hands.
@lee jeno Dongwoon had been bored out of his messy, unorganized mind. His week leave was still so far away from its end- at least in his thinking. 4 days have only passed, but it felt like it has already been weeks. So now, with a book in hand he went to the café, hoping that at least there'd be sweets with him and a change of environment.
He let himself down on a seat by the corner, picking up the menu that rested atop and eyed the list of cakes the place had to offer. A of good luck, he thought. The café was empty today with the exception of the barista.
