Mark took note of understanding that the girl did catch him looking at her earlier. Though Mark's habit was merely just examining her physique and her mannerisms, he knew that often times people could understand that he was staring or trying to look at her in a brazen way. So with that, he directed his attention somewhere else but could find nothing else to do since all of his clothes were put up, and his desk was set up as well, meaning Mark really had nothing else to do but sit on his bed and conversate with the other. "That makes sense, but I guess if the school has been doing this system for a while, I guess it isn't really in our position to question it. Unless if there is enough problems to change it." Mark had totally forgotten that he was supposed to talk about himself, he had completely negated her question earlier. "Oh my bad, I didn't mean to ignore that, it totally slipped my m-mind." He scratched his head, ruffling his hair in the process. "Well, I'm 19, and I was born and raised in New York. Umm, I came here about last year, and that's really it. How about you?"
@ˢ mark lee Once all of her clothes were unloaded, Catherine started taking her stacks of jeans and t-shirts over to her closet, placing them upon the handful of shelves she could find. She noticed the boy staring during one of her trips, then figuring she was just making up stuff and going back to what she was doing. "Good. I'm glad we've come to an agreement." She nodded, crossing her arms over her chest as she sat down upon her bed. "It's nice to know I'm not the only one who found that to be extremely weird." She reached for her now empty duffle bag seconds later, carefully folding it up and shoving it underneath her bed. "Since we'll be partnered with them, you'd think they'd want more bonding time between the two groups. I mean, not that I wouldn't want to get to know the others within my own group." The two-toned haired girl then laid back on her new bed with a soft groan. "This place just gets more and more confusing. Hmm? Yeah I guess you're right. The paperwork for room transfer is a mess so I imagine people would just rather stick with who they were assigned to and not cause issues." She agreed, shaking her head. "So was that a no on the getting to know each other thing, Mark?"
@ˢ catherine chi Mark decided to take a quick glance at the female so he could see any notable features that would help him remember her if he ever saw her around campus. He admitted that the other had some very detailed facial qualities. He decided to go back to putting up his clothes before he got caught looking. And Mark did not want to face any problems with her, especially on the first meeting. Getting off on the wrong foot would be the worst thing he wanted to do right now, and that would just make things worse for him. Mark took a few breaths to calm himself down mentally, knowing he was getting ahead of himself as he babbled on and on in his mind. "Gotcha...only good cat puns." He put one his jackets on a hanger as he continued to speak, "I think it is weird since you brought that out. If the rooms are all separated by hero and sidekick, it's weird that they wouldn't room us with some heroes to get to know them as well." Mark stopped talking to briefly collect his thoughts before resuming, "And with the hooking up thing, I suspect that they figured that roommates probably wouldn't want to hook up with each other since they would basically have to see each other every day and make it awkward for the other roommates."
@ˢ mark lee With pursed lips, Catherine continued to set out a few little things here and there; a small crystal ball from her mom, a fake magic wand from her dad, trinkets and shot glasses from the places she once visited. Once she was finished with that, she started bringing out her stacks of clothing from her larger suitcase, listening intently to the boy when he started speaking again. If they were going to have a conversation, she might as well pay attention, right? "Just don't start making cat puns at me...unless they're good ones." She attempted to joke, lips threatening to form a smile. "That's probably it, though it's a weird way of doing it. You'd think they'd worry about roommates hooking up together or something. The thing is though, none of us within the same rooms have the chance of being partnered together. At least, I don't think so. I was told they're keeping all the 'sidekick' kids in rooms together and all the 'hero' kids in separate rooms together. I'm not sure why they did that either, now that I think about it. Weird." She frowned, finding herself with many more questions than she had when she enrolled here. "Anyway, Mark, tell me a little bit about yourself. I mean, if we're going to be stuck living together, we might as well know something about the other, right?"
@ˢ catherine chi Mark quickly nodded, returning to his bed to put up the rest of his belonginings. After scracthing his head, slightly confused what just happened a few moments ago, he decided to organize his work space, setting up his laptop that he recently got on his desk, and planting the lamp that would provide him light on the endless nights on them all nighters. While focusing on his space, he tried to his best to listen to the other and not make the atmosphere not so awkward, but it was a challenege. But Mark liked challenges and he always liked to face them head on. "Cool, cat. Haha," chuckling at his words before continuing speaking. "Yeah, I think it's a bit weird. But I guess they want us to be comfortable being around the opposite since we may end up being partners one day. At least, that's how I see it."
@ˢ mark lee Observing the boy's hands raising in a fighting pose, Catherine quickly prepared to use her own powers. Did he intend to be hostile towards her already? She quickly relaxed when he lowered his hands, realizing it was a misunderstanding. She then made her way over to the other side of the room, tossing her bags onto one of the other empty beds and beginning to unload her things. "Catherine, but you can just call me Cat." She responded as she placed a few things on her work desk. "I'm guessing the head honchos thought it would be a good idea to make these dorms co-ed to save space, huh?" She pointed out, tucking a few strands of hair behind her ear. "I mean, I don't have an issue with it. I just think it's a bit...odd?"
@ˢ catherine chi The sound of sudden footsteps actually shocked the male, leaving him slightly frightened in the process. But he gulped and took a deep breath, wondering who could it be. Mark left his clothes alone and turned around to see who could be out there. Expecting an intruder out of all the people, Mark prepared to fight. However, the male put his fists down when he saw that it was a female, and to add, she said roomie, decompressing the male posture by the second. "Hey...I'm Mark," he uttered, not expecting for a female to be his roommate. He was sure that the dorms were single-gender, but if she was here, most likely that meant she was in the right place. So Mark would be living with females now...great. This was definitely going to be one hell of a year for him.
@ˢ mark lee With cautious footsteps, Catherine made her way down the hallway of the dormitory. Breathe in. Breathe out. She could do this. Right? Umber eyes scanned over her surroundings as a way of distracting herself, alternative rock blaring in her ears. She swallowed audibly as she tried to keep herself together. This wasn't going to be like her old schools. This place was different. At least, that's what she hoped. Upon reaching her own dorm, she slowly opened the door, taking a peek inside and realizing she wasn't the first one there. Well damn. She hesitantly paused her music so she could drag her handful of bags inside. "Umm...hey roomie." She spoke nervously, trying her best not to use her powers to her advantage. Doing so in the past had caused a number of problems and she really didn't want to start off the year on a sour note.
It truly felt like a whole new start for the male as he entered the dorm for the first time, in awe of the sheer size of the dorm. His expectations were somewhat low, somehow convincing himself that the dorms would be small and Mark would barely have closet space, and barely any place to focus on schoolwork. At least, that's what he thought when he remembered visiting college campuses during his freshman year in high school. Besides that, Mark brought in his luggage- which wasn't even much in the first place and placed his belongings besides a bed that seemed to no one belongings around, so he decided to claim this space for now, until his roommates showed up. And that was another question he had in mind, who were his roommates? And will he be able to get along well with them? Only time would tell he figured, but until then, Mark focused on putting up his clothes in the meantime.
