☠ dark waters

@Min Yoongi Thick fog was covering our ship as we tried to navigate through Blackwater Deep. Every single navigator had told us not to do it, not to sail this route and while we had found that one single, very daring navigator who had agreed to taking us through the most dangerous place in the sea. I have heard so many stories of pirate ships hiding down here though I preferred not to be seeing one – the last encounter with a ship from the enemy had ended horribly and I do not dare to remember. Just like my crew mates as barely anyone survived.

Leaning onto the railing, I was staring into the fog where I was barely able to see my own hand in front of me. The stars. This idiot navigator had said he needed the stars. Not taking into account that fog did mean one thing: no stars. I shake my head and huff, looking down where the water was. I could help, but I would not. Instead here I was, staring into the thick air where nothing but darkness was engulfing the ship I had learned to love and hate.

For a blink of an eye I think I hear a sound, voices coming from the fog in front of us and all I can do is straighten up, just for a loud sound to make me flinch – the shaking ship clearly tells me that some wood just broke, no, forcefully ripped apart. And when I look down I do not need to see the hole the canon ball has just tore into our ship. “!” I curse as I see the boat in front of me, just seconds away from crashing into our ship and I stumble backwards, unable to see the figures on the boat clearly, though they look like they are looming and seconds later all I can see is fire and people crowding the ship of the sailors. Not people are crowding the ship. Pirates. Pirates I have encountered once but had been able to get away from with jumping into the ice cold ocean.

The sailors that had been out with me, trying to figure out a plan, are screaming and I cannot tell apart who is who, as the pirates are so much louder than any of my fellow crewmates. And even if I would not have recognized as I barely knew them – I would not have any time to get to know them know as I could hear them scream. Death was imminent. Just a fingertip away.

While fear fills my heart, I scramble back onto my legs that feel like they are giving out again but I somehow manage to get away from one of the pirates that are trying to stab me with some goddamn sharp sword. I curse again, dodging another pirate and making my way to the railing again. If I can just get a free, unoccupied spot where I can jump into the sea – that would probably safe me. I still limp slightly from the last encounter with these pirates. I have heard the most horrible things about them and I do not want to figure them out myself. All I want is to get away in time. Like we sailors are trained to do. None of us can win a fight with an ingrained pirate. There were rumours these people were born to be pirates. Rumours that they traded any kind of not human creature and it scares me. It scares me to the bone.

Just in time I duck away from a sword, just to stumble right into one of the pirates. I am not a fan of too many curses but: big, ing .
