@kim jongin ❜ ᵏᵃᶦ ache settles in her chest as he continues onward with his words, already familiar with whatever he was attempting to say from their past encounters about the matter; he wasn't the one for her, she wasn't the one at fault, they wanted different things in life. she already knew there was no word made possible that could rewind time and make him feel just how much she loved him, even if she searched every nook and cranny of books made to date; he wasn't going to return her love. "it just hurts," she manages to croak out, face averted elsewhere. "to be loved and then .. to not be loved the next day." now, her palms come to shield her visage, exhaling the breath she'd been holding in. "you were enough too, you really were. and i just -- i can't imagine my life without you."
@jennie kim ❜ "jennie.." the countless ethereal hours that were spent together flashed across his mind, only to remind him of the mistakes he's made throughout their relationship. how was he to explain to her that he was scared of the one thing that could of held their bond intact; the very existence of why every relationship he's had resulted in tears and ash. his breath was staggered as he stepped forward, avoiding her glance as his focus remained on the box. "jen, you..were enough. i told you this —" his palm reached down inside the cardboard, pulling out a square polaroid album before an exhaling out an exasperated sigh. quickly setting it back in the box, he gathered his attention towards her. " you are a lifetime of amity; strong and passionate. i've always admired your sense of courage. the problem was never you."
@kim jongin ❜ ᵏᵃᶦ there's a slight hitch in her breath, figure pausing as he continues to voice out to her. he wanted to talk but .. she didn't know what to say. for weeks, she'd imagine how their confrontation would be, how she'd ask him why he suddenly dropped her and how dare he find sanctuary in her heart just to taint it from the inside. but now that she's been given the chance, no words were to avail to convey her thoughts. "okay," she starts, finding herself perched on the table where she once was, eyes meeting his feet. "why, jongin? was i just not good enough for you?"
@jennie kim ❜ "okay-" his voice mirrored that of her hastily response before hesitantly following her in, though he stands close by the door frame unintentionally keeping a noticeable distance between the two. "look.. thank you for gathering up everything and putting it in the box. i—" there were still topics that needed to be touched, things to be finished yet the anxious feeling dwelling inside kept crawling its way out. "the..i" indistinguishable words muttered from underneath his breath, his eyes fixated on the belongings inside the box. "i think we should talk."
@kim jongin ❜ ᵏᵃᶦ "no," she says almost immediately, not wanting to come off as a damsel in distress in his presence. if there was something she yearned to do after the event, was that she was still independent, that she could uphold her image without cracking. at least in front of him. "it's right here on the table." muttering, she abandons post to cater to the box, touching its corner with eyes averted to its surface as a way to avoid his eye contact. "everything should be in there. your favorite hoodie, a few shirts .. i think, uh, our necklaces and other stuff too."
@jennie kim ❜ he could hear the muffled footsteps through the closed door, her shadow waning in and out of sight through the bottom cracks. he could feel his heart weighing down tons of guilt and regret, yet what was there to do now that it was all said and done. he wanted to turn back, but that would only make him wallow deeper in his cowardly ways. his sight shifted up as the door swung open; he could feel a knot forming in his throat as her quiet voice shattered his selfish heart. " thanks jen. is it heavy? I don't want you to have to lift it out if it is-"
@kim jongin ❜ ᵏᵃᶦ a hesitant pair of steps shuffle to the front door, hand resting upon the knob but she wasn't yet opening it. after countless hours of bawling, worried texts from her members that she shut out, curling up every night to lose herself in drowning thoughts - it was all leading up to this moment. slowly, her door swings open and her heart sinks into the depths of her chest. there he was in the flesh, the personification of her heartache. her head slightly peeks, letting him see her draped in her pajamas, before whispering a weak string of words, "i have your stuff."
@jennie kim ❜ the deafening silence of the noisy grain rang through his ears as he stood, disassociating inside the elevator. what was he going to say? what was there to even say? the dead white noise halted as his level approached and soon the doors slid open. exhaling a heavy breath, he stepped out, each step echoing loudly through the empty corridor. bunching up his fingers into a fist, he hesitated before leaning his arm closer towards the door. knocking, he awaits.
@kim jongin ❜ ᵏᵃᶦ alone, her finger traces the outline of his readied box, emitting a longing sigh. was she prepared to face him after all this time? no, she was never going to be. but, in her perspective, it was either now or dread returning home to that same box remaining limp in the corner of her room. she sits impatiently off the edge of her coffee table, waiting for the deafening knock of the door that'd signify his arrival.
