@Lee Hwitaek♙ /having enough faith in you and your cooking skills (and believing that you have no interest in burning my apartment down), I drift away from you and the oven, eventually sitting at the opposite side of the island at one of the chairs. leaning my elbow against the wooden surface, I rest my chin on my hand, watching how you busy yourself preparing the easiest dish in the world. maybe it's silly of me to think that it's how exactly the perfect morning should look like. lazy, extremely cosy, spent with someone special. I raise my eyebrow at your offer, simply too tempting to refuse. that's why, when you pass me by, I slide off my chair and deftly wrap my arm around your waist, pulling you closer and carefully stealing the coffee mug from your hand to place it on the nearest flat surface. I push you against the balk on my right and as I the caffeine off your lips, I can't really wean my hands away from squeezing your round bottom/

@Yang Hongseok♙ yeah sure /once i'm satisfied with the eggs' texture i pick up few spice jars to add a pinch of each to enrich the bland taste of the mixture i've just finished whisking with a pair of long chopsticks. in a meantime i heat oil and butter in a frying pan over a medium-low heat until the butter has melted and is foaming. then i pour the eggs into the pan that i then tilt ever so slightly from one side to another. once the mixture is spread evenly enough for my standards i turn around to you, smirking/ we got about 20 minutes, why won't you try to warm my bum? /i propose and pick up my mug again, heading out to the mezzanine, hoping you will stop me on the stairs/

@Lee Hwitaek♙ I'm glad. /I reply with a little smile hidden behind the mug which I soon place down on top of the island. as you rightfully decide to prepare a fresher version of the chickens for our breakfast, I can only express my helpfulness by taking out a pan for you, followed by two white plates and cutlery. I also open for you the drawer full of small jars which contain different spices, in case you want to be a bit more freaky. I know that my help is most likely unneeded, you know every corner of this apartment so well one could assume you're one of the tenants/ what would you say to eating upstairs? /I ask then, pointing at the green entresol, still hidden in the shadow of the higher neighbouring building but some shy sun rays already make it slightly brighter and friendlier to someone as exposed as you/ you can put something on if you don't want to freeze your bum off.

@Yang Hongseok♙ /i can feel your stare on my body and i peek from above my shoulder to blow you a kiss before i take a sip from my coffee, enjoying the bitterness on my tongue. to be honest i hate it, but my self-hate is stronger so i got used to one of the least pleasant flavors culinary world has to offer. i put the mug down and open your fridge to pick eggs, butter and some cooking oil/ you can have it for lunch and reheat it. nothing beats the warm chicken /i smile and pick up a spare bowl and something to whisk the eggs/ i'm a man of my word.

@Lee Hwitaek♙ this much? you must've been tired as heck. /I mumble, letting my eyelids fall for a short moment, enjoying the soft texture of your plump lips against my neck. every tiniest form of affection feels overwhelmingly amazing after a long period of emotional starvation. when you choose to step away, I turn around and follow you to the kitchen unit, using my chance to refresh the photographic memories of your almost body/ you do. but I'm sure that if you tried a little convincing, I may stick to cold chicken instead. /I add before I take a sip of my coffee, a little lighter than the one I've prepared for you. leaning my bottom against the edge of the kitchen island, I observe you how you seemingly consider my offer/

@Yang Hongseok♙ I slept amazing. Probably slept twice as usual. I feel so good I’m starting to doubt I’m awake. It’s too good to be true /I murmur, lips pressed to your nape. The part of missing your warmth also included some groping. But you are right I need even more energy, so I’m peeling myself off your back and take a stroll to the counter/ black as my soul, you know me so well Seokie /I praise you, eyes scanning the room, my mouth forms an o shape when I notice the kitchen area/ oh right I owe you a breakfast don’t I?

@Lee Hwitaek♙ /hearing the soft noise of your footstep, I turn around immediately to greet you with a little smile. your messy hair and puffy face make you look like you just had a very serious fight with the sheets and maybe that’s why, for my own safety, I choose not to stop you on your way to the bathroom. hearing the sound of running water, I know you’re taking your turn in refreshing yourself. in the meantime, I grab two mugs from one of the cabinets to prepare for us something hot to drink. luckily, someone smarter than me took care of setting up the house so there’s a coffee maker to do the whole work for me. when the coffee is ready, I leave your mug on the counter and holding mine in one of my hands, I stroll to the window waiting for you to join me. still remembering our half-awake deal from the previous night, I don’t dare to get anywhere close to the fridge and eggs that are inside. I must’ve gotten very engrossed into the process of displaying the boxes of fruits and vegetables in front of the local store that I completely miss the moment when you leave the bathroom. the touch of your arms surprises me a little/ did you sleep well? /I ask and turn my head just a bit to catch a glimpse of your face/ I made you a coffee, it’s on the counter.

@Yang Hongseok♙ /I wake up the next morning, feeling refreshed which is a pretty rare for me. Even without checking on my phone I can tell it’s around 8-9am, aka quite late in the morning. You are already gone so there’s no point to lay in your sheets alone. I take another tour to your closet. That special shelf just for me seems emptier than last time I stayed at your place, but luckily there’s a pair of fresh boxers. So I grab it and head out to the bathroom, greeting you on my way to it.
Once I’m done showering I decide that my socks aren’t fresh enough so I put them in laundry basket and check if my clothes drying on the rack are ready to be worn. They aren’t so I have no other choice but to walk out in nothing but underwear. You are just as while basking out in the sun, while standing in the window. So I use my stealth skills to approach you and hug from behind/

@Lee Hwitaek♙ /today must be a very lucky day for me. usually it’s almost impossible to convince you to change your mind but here we are. I walk you with my stare only until you disappear behind the corner which leads to my bedroom. I stay in the living room for a bit longer to finish my meal and then put the leftovers into the fridge. you’re already sleeping sound and deep when I wrap my arm around your thin waist and snuggle you from behind. brightness of the morning makes me wake up in a very similar position, sharp rays of sun strike straight at my face. without disturbing your sleep, I slide off the bed and quietly pull the curtain to slow down the arrival of your morning. I pick a fresh pair of boxers and sweatpants, before I leave to take a shower. continues silence in the apartment (spoiled only by the traffic of the morning tokyo) makes me believe that you’re still charging your batteries. it’s only 9 a.m. but the weather is already remarkably beautiful/

@Yang Hongseok♙ /it looks like our roles have been reversed - now you are the one I’m hating on for disrupting my sleep with your touches. I really want to say no but you have a point about neck pains/ fine, if you insist on that so hard I might as well do it /I say and hand you my jacket before getting up. With my eyes closed most of the time I walk to your room, already knowing the route by heart. When I’m there I pick up some t-shirt from your closet, deciding I’m too lazy to look for sweatpants/ goodnight, Hongseokie /after i changed I yell through the opened window, hoping that I disturbed at least one of your neighbors. I then slide under your covers. I’m sure I’m asleep before my head even touches your pillow/

@Lee Hwitaek♙ /chewing on another nugget, I discover how truly hungry I was. it’s not the right hour to eat, neither it’s the kind of meal I should be stuffing myself with if I cared so much about my physique. it’s just difficult to resist an awfully delicious portion of unhealthy food. when the warmth of your body suddenly disappears from my side, I look at you, observing how you make yourself comfortable on the couch, tucking yourself under your jacket. I reach out to slap your bottom tenderly/ go to bed, silly. I don’t want to listen about your neck pain in the morning. /I say, patting your back a few times more as you seem not to be that fond of my idea/ come on, baby hyung.

@Yang Hongseok♙ /I watch you eating, feeling the tiredness enveloping my body. How long have I slept last night? Or at all? I think I took a nap between my 7/11 and chicken restaurant shifts/ Mhm, I think I will just fall asleep in my clothes. I’m too lazy to move from this couch /I murmur and leave your shoulder to curl up on reminder free space and put my jacket all over my body. Not the comfiest place but at this point it’s the least of my concerns/

@Lee Hwitaek♙ /I would be very surprised if you actually agreed to pack your things and move into one of the unused bedrooms in my loft apartment (and I doubt you would even limit your existence to those four walls). you’re tied to the place you’ve lived in since I can remember. I like to think I know why and that I understand. but sometimes I can’t help and think that perhaps that apartment holds you back a lot more than you’re ready to admit even to yourself. I’m a ty friend, I know. I’m just as helpless as you are/ anything for a few extra lazy minutes in the morning. /I add before I stuff my mouth with another piece of chicken. you brought a lot, the rest of the bag would have to wait for their turn to be eaten tomorrow, or later/ you can pick something from my closet to get changed. I think your clothes are still in the laundry basket.

But as usual i blurt out my response as soon as you finish talking/ thank you, but you know I can’t. /I don’t notice it but I put emphasis on my words, saying them through my teeth. Even if you heard that, you don’t seem to mind, feeding me a piece of deep fried meat, even though I’m not a biggest fan/ oh I didn’t know you were such a fan of them. But sure, food for a spot on your sofa sounds like a fair exchange.

@Lee Hwitaek♙ you know, my offer still stands. /I glance at you when I feel the weight of your head on my shoulder. from behind your bright orange locks I dark lashes flickering as you blink/ if you even want to move out, there’s always a room in here for you. /I continue in a soft voice. you’re the older one between us two but I find myself worried about you more often than I probably should, perhaps even over the level when it’s still considered healthy. I have my reasons to worry, definitely more serious than crashing at my place in the middle of the night, yet knowing your explosive nature, I understandably prefer to keep most of the words to myself. making a lot more noise than I originally intended when unpacking the food, I’m able to take out a container full of nuggets. I’m also blessed with a few different sauces to choose from. for a good start I pick the barbeque one and after feeding myself with a nugget dipped it in, I feed you with the next piece/ I have to be in the court at noon so I guess I can have your famous omelette-turned-scrambled eggs for breakfast.

@Yang Hongseok♙ /Your leather sofa is as comfy as usual and I could almost doze off on it, watching you helping yourself to anything our cook packed for us (mostly you). I rest my head on your shoulder, giving in my urge to cling to your body. Urge that’s been building up inside me for last few days (or maybe weeks, I’m bad at keeping track of time) I’ve spent far from your side. I almost got used to the feeling of longing for your warmth, contrasting with your quite cold personality. Very alluring combination I’ve been drawn to for all the years we’ve known each other/ Can I? I don’t think I’m able to drive anymore tonight. My next shift is in the afternoon and you got a nice bed. /I say, rubbing my eyes. Listening to your own body every once in a while seems nice now/

@Lee Hwitaek♙ /naturally, I’m far from enjoying the state I wake up in, with my eyes slightly puffy and with still a very intense deficit of sleep. it would be much nicer to sleep for eight hours straight without being disturbed by anyone (you or loud children of my neighbors) but when you’re already here I can’t even consider kicking you out. you brough me some food (as always) and to be fully honest, I’ve missed you a lot. both your and mine schedule can be quite terrible when it comes to cultivating a private life and that’s why I cherish every minute I can spend with you, my only friend/ my shift ended ten hours ago so you’re a little late, hyung. /I reply but despite the fact that I’ve already defeated my hunger with a snack, I still reach for the bag you got me to check what’s inside. I would be really surprised to find there something that’s not a chicken part/ wanna stay overnight?

I can see that you are unhappy with seeing me, but I blame it on having you just waking up a while ago/ me, sleeping? You know that’s something I don’t do /joking I sit down next to you, tempted to wrap my arms around you but I feel like it’s still too early for you to let me be cuddly with you/ I got you some food because I’m sure you forgot to eat on your shift again.

@Lee Hwitaek♙ /falling asleep is a process which usually doesn’t take me too long to complete, however, when it comes to waking up, I’m surely not one of those who open their eyes willingly in the morning. cherishing every second of sleep throughout the day, I doubt my morning sleep-deprived self is someone anyone would want to deal with willingly. but here you are, disturbing my moment with Morpheus so brazenly. it’s sudden flood of brightness on my face that awakens my senses and eventually awakens me as well. initially, I’m puzzled but it’s only a matter of seconds until I spot the neatly arranged papers, plastic bag of something that strikingly resembles food and your bright orange mop soon blocking my vision. I groan and rub my face as if it could help me to regain some clear thinking/ hey, hwi. what are you doing here? /I ask and look at the clock only to find out that it’s already past 3 a.m./ in the middle of the night. don’t you have anything else to do? like, I don’t know, sleeping?

It’s not like I’d even touch that chicken myself but I know that you always appreciate some proteins, even if they come from shady places. After I arrive at your place, I don’t even bother ringing a bell. After all it’s almost 3am and your neighbors like to complain about smallest manifestations of people living next door. I also got a spare key for your apartment. Privileges of being your best friend. Possibly the only one/
/hearing no “hi Hwitaek” I assume that you are asleep, but I didn’t expect to see you sitting in sofa with papers covering your face. I take a step closer, squinting to see if you’re showing some life. You are so I sit casually next to you, sorting your papers before I place a bag of food on your coffee table. Then I reach out to pull the last sheet of paper off your face, amused how you still haven’t woken up/

@Lee Hwitaek♙ /deafening silence is what welcomes me back home once I cross the doorstep. one shift of the light switch fills every corner of my living space with brightness, so blinding in comparison with the previous overwhelming darkness. I believe only my plants were looking forward to seeing me. they’ve been waiting to be watered this whole day and sometimes I catch myself wondering how it’s even possible that none of them faded or mouldered yet. I must be lucky then (or there’s someone who takes care of them in my absence). I prepare something small to a snack before going to bed, however, instead of heading straight to my bedroom, I find myself sitting on the sofa, in one hand holding a cup of warm green tea and a few sheets of paper in the other. it's later, I should be catching up on sleep, yet being keen on taking my work home (as distasteful as it sounds) I have to look into the report that has been haunting me for a few days already. something doesn't quite feel right and my guts rarely give me wrong suggestions. but perhaps it would be wiser to leave this for the morning as I don't even register the exact moment when my eyelids fall and I drift off to the land of dreams/
