@✦ hwang hyunjin ˢᵃᵐ upon hearing the other's name, yujin only hummed in acknowledgement. a hwang could easily be anyone really, it being one of the more popular surnames in the country, her father's second wife was actually a hwang, so who was she to judge. stretching out one leg to the side, she leaned over it, reaching for her toes, feeling the muscle elongate - which was evidently the target result.
the sudden question caught her off guard, looking up from her position with her face over her knee, she blinked. what was this about now? "... i didn't really. someone chose for me." she answered after a short thought, switching over to the other leg and deciding to give it a smidge more information, before the unavoidable question would follow "some... friends sent my application in and i got the call. ultimately, it was my own decision to come to auditions though, so... thought "why not?" and i dont like giving up in the middle. have /you/ chosen to become an idol?"
@✿ cha yujin ʲᶦⁿ his eyes moved along her petite body, how she gracefully went down and began to stretch. it was rather an elegant sight. he knew she was a skillfulled trainee, even if she had not revealed her training time. hyunjin looked down at the drink and hummed. 'hwang hyunjin.' was all he said. he just hoped that she did not know who he was or what his family was doing. it did not help as there were already rumours around him that his father bought his way in and hyunjin was nothing more, but a pretty face. he took another sip and looked at her. 'why did you choose to become an idol?' he suddenly asked.
@✦ hwang hyunjin ˢᵃᵐ the naturally sweet drink was bound to help and it would slightly replenish his energy reserves, thanks fast-absorbing sugars.
instead of hovering around like a beanpole, the young woman also crouched down, a little to the side, legs bent at the knee when she hit the floor, feet pressed against each other as she pulled them as close as possible and started stretching. "in the meaning of time spent in this studio - yes. been at it for 2 years now. cha yujin." a simple curt nod as she introduced herself, legs fluttering in a butterfly motion "you learn. keep drinking."
@✿ cha yujin ʲᶦⁿ he got down on the floor, back pressed against the wall. he was panting, chasing his precious oxygen. his forehead and face was glistening with sweat. when she reached for something in her backpack, he was too tired to care. however, when he felt something appear in front of him, his eyes flashed open. his gaze moved up at the bottle, hands shakily reaching for it. he opened it and took a big gulp. only then he felt rather better. his focus was back on her as she explained the small details. 'are you..a senior?' he suddenly asked her, knowing how rather inappropriate his question was, however, hyunjin had no filter. 'how do you know all of this?'
@✦ hwang hyunjin ˢᵃᵐ watching the boy more and more made yujin's expression twist further and further. he seemed... wobbly. unsure. as if drunk. counting in the hour and the clothing state she found him in, she deduced one thing. "you'll faint if you don't sit down right now." head nodded to the wall, she actually turned her back on him, going deep into her backpack and reemerging with a bottle of coconut water, which was then promptly extended to the taller "you also sweat so much you'll dehydrate soon, take this." it was true - he was positively dripping, beads of sweat rolling off and threatening to go into his tired eyes, shirt completely soaked already. using the bottle as pointer, she waved towards his feet "no need. but you can do something about your steps. take smaller steps, don't open so much, keep it tight, so you don't flail." she explained equally tightly, without many expletives.
@✿ cha yujin ʲᶦⁿ he tried hard to focus on his own reflection, carefully monitoring every movement of his. he almost fell this time, bending to the front as he pressed palms against his knees and let his head lull to the front. he panted heavily, his forehead glistening with sweat. he was tired, exhausted. he had not eaten as they had to keep their slim shape. when he tried for another time yet once more ignoring the senior, he was actually startled when she suddenly nudged his ankle. he twisted it a bit and hummed, it was a perfect position. he stood up, stepping away for a bit and looked at her. 'too long?' he said after a while, trying to catch his breath. hyunjin was not much of a talker, however, he knew that he will have to break this shell he has. he looked down at his legs. 'there is nothing i can do about my legs tho?' he suddenly asked, looking at her dumbfounded.
@✦ hwang hyunjin ˢᵃᵐ with a bow of her head, yujin greeted too, taking a careful step in the room as she hated hovering around in doorways, in a weird state of limbo - neither in, nor out.
'no, the other trainee in the room' she wanted to snort, but did not speak out - he'd get there on his own eventually, no need to be a from the get go. the elder girl watched, as the boy's features twisted visibly, as if he put on a mask, maybe it was his stage presence persona?
eyebrows furrowed she watched for a moment or two, arms crossed under her chest, used to hover around like a shadow and only listen and observe. she knew they both should not be out here so late. she knew that as the senior one (was he even younger? he looked the same age) she had to urge him to go home.
she also knew it will be of little success, if the stubborn expression he had was anything to go by. "if you're not going home, at least do this right, or you're going to lose an ankle" she sighed and neared him, nudging his foot with hers to bring said ankle in "too much weight at an angle. your legs are too long."
@✿ cha yujin ʲᶦⁿ he almost bumped into the shelves on the closest wall. he did not expect anyone to be so late. hyunjin's dark locks stuck to his forehead, his breath raging as he tried to catch it. his dark orbs moved over to the much shorter female. she looked about his age, but he was scared to judge. she was wearing a rather simple outfit, alarming in his mind that she was probably a trainee as well. well, her looks matched an idol, not a staff. he reached for the audio system and turned the music off. he immediately bowed, showing off his respect. sure, he was not a human person, but hyunjin knew his ways around manners and etiquette. he was raised in an aristocratic household after all.
'me?' he let out a sound, as he tried to ask the other female yet his breath cut him off. he pointed at himself, dumbfoundly looking behind himself. he was usually ignored or only stared at, so when the female suddenly started a conversation, he was rather startled. he pulled away and his surprised face turned into his cold and smug one. 'i need to practice.' he said as he looked at the mirror. he tried to ignore her, focusing on his own reflection as his limbs refused to listen to him. his movements came out rather clumsy, being nothing like the perfect and sharp ones he had previously. he failed miserably, and it was one of the easiest dances - the one everyone had to know. '.' he cursed.
@✦ hwang hyunjin ˢᵃᵐ it was too late.
too late to be in the building, too late to be awake, definitely too late to be roaming the corridors of the company, definitively too late to be at the dance studios level.
but here she was.
another text from another trainee friend, saying he was debuting in a week had gotten her antsy and restless - why was she not good enough? it's been 2 years and yet, still nothing...
No. the point was to get these thoughts out of her mind. its why she came out so late. its why she was going to the dance studios, her feet naturally took her there and the... thumping sound form one of them?
Did someone forget to turn off their player?
following the sound, she entered what she thought would be an empty room, quickly greeted with the sight of a trainee she only knew existed because of gossip. he was new. he was interesting. but they gossiped like that about her too, always the whispers behind her back about how distant she was, so she was not gonna resign to that. "Hello. What are you here so late?" she kept her sentenced short, keeping the Daegu accent at bay "You should go already, you look spent."
@✿ cha yujin ʲᶦⁿ ah, 2016. the peak of the k-pop industry. the switch between 3rd and 4th generation. every entertainment was trying hard to debut the best group possible. it was a tough year for the trainees. they were on a verge of debuting, everyone was on the edge and tried hard to outshine others.
hyunjin had just joined the lunar entertainment after being scouted on the streets. he was playing his guitar, playing for the fun and the sake of lonely people passing by. as soon as he joined the agency and signed a 10 year long contract, he knew his life would change.
he heard the rumors behind his back. about his looks, how his looks alone would be enough for him to debut, he did not need to be good at anything. and it hurt. he wanted to feel as if he was worth it, he wanted the whole world to see his talent, to see what he is capable of.
so, when everyone was gone, he stayed in the practice room and danced. he tried hard to repeat all of the moves they learned, correct his imperfections and make it seem more fluid and graceful. after nth time of the same mistake, he groaned. his tendons and ankles started to hurt, he hadn't eaten in a while and vision became blurry. his dark hair stuck to his forehead as he was sweating, overwhelmed by the voices in his head. he groaned loudly and almost missed a shadow in the half-opened door. he turned head and looked at the lady, standing up straight. 'h-hello?' he suddenly said, his voice trembling as he was not used to talk to anyone, but his instructors.
