@maria r。ᵐᵃʳᶦᵍᵒˡᵈ "Of course I don't mind, love. Are you in for a guessing game though?" Frank raised his eyebrow at Maria, feigning seriousness for a second. "I'm kidding. You're my first dream come true. And don't hit me for being cheesy, alright? You asked so nicely, I can't deny you the answer," Frank said, pointing a warning finger at Maria, readying himself to block her possible incoming hand swatting. It was a self-preservation impulse every time he said something awfully silly or cheesy around her. A force of habit per se. "Especially after you said yes. There is not much more a man like me could ask for, really. But perhaps that just counts as you, because anything and everything that happens with you is my dream come true, so yeah. You're my first dream come true, a wet one at that- and don't hit me for that either," Frank let out a louder laugh as he got ready to duck and dodge. It was impressive how quickly he could turn into a happy joyful youngster when Maria was around him. She had the power of putting Frank's grumpy old man attitude on a backburner and made him feel like a teenager in love for the first time all over again. "Shall we go? Or do you want to give my new second bedroom a housewarming party, if you catch my drift there?" he teased again, biting his bottom lip tauntingly as he quickly tried to get out of dodge just in case Maria would finally let him feel just how much his humour stank.
@frank d。ᵒᵘᵗᵒᶠˢᵖᵃᶜᵉ Maria's rose colored lips spread some more as she kept her jumpy eyes trained on Frank's face, wanting to see even the slightest contortment of his features. The way his deep chuckle rang in her hears and bounced off the thin walls of the van, he was obviously just as happy as she was. "I'm so happy you like it." Maria muttered with a grin as she leaned against the narrow door frame of the room. "Well, shouldn't that mean something else too? Like you should move in with me." Maria said, her voice slowing down and drawling out up and down like she was trying to hypnotize him. She blushed at the little kiss, catching Frank's eyes again as he came near her. "You know, maybe this could be your second bedroom." She suggested, her bushy brows raising at him. As insensitive it might have seen, after Maria was given permission to take the van, she kindly suggested to letting her have it, give it some life and possibly go on the same trips as her cousin. To her surprise he liked the idea but he just wasn't ready. "Second? Well, what's your first dream then if you don't mind me asking?" Maria queried the other, her head tilting to the side as she looked at him, her brown eyes stuck in a trance every time she looked to him.
@maria r。ᵐᵃʳᶦᵍᵒˡᵈ There was a part of him that wanted to reveal the childlike excitement and enthusiasm he had for this van. His teenage dream was partially fulfilled at this point. But he couldn't give much more than an exhale akin to a happy chuckle accompanied by a pair of wide surprised eyes. "Now, that's some luxury," he exclaimed, looking at the spacious room, and the spacious bed. "What a sad life when your bed is smaller than the one in a wheeled moving vehicle," he joked, poking fun at himself and his tiny bed which was barely enough for him, not the mention the times Maria spent the night. "Quite genuinely, I love it," he admitted, turning from the bed to Maria. He walked over to her and placed an innocent kiss on her shoulder as she spoke about the history of the van and its owner. "That's self-explanatory," he said in short, completely comprehending her uncle's approach to the van. It was a beautiful sentiment, and he agreed quite a lot. And he also wished he had a parent like that. He wanted to know more details, Maria's entire family was likely full of variously intriguing and captivating life stories. However, he wasn't sure if it was the right time to ask. "It's amazing as it is," he whispered against her shoulder before he stood back upright. "And it's my second dream come true," he added a small smile tugging on his lips as he once again adoringly took in Maria's face.
@frank d。ᵒᵘᵗᵒᶠˢᵖᵃᶜᵉ Maria chuckled as she watched the great fascination swim across Frank's usually reserved features, she knew he would love it. Maria was happy the van was kept clean at least, even with it's older furnishings it still looked good as new for a different time. "Don't say that now, you might actually become one of his puppets." Maria joked as she clasped her hands behind her back, still a bit in awe with the ambiance the inside of the van emitted compared to the outside. It truly felt like they were in a world of their own. With the van having been with her for a couple of days, she already had the chance to bring any clothes and kitchen supplies she needed for their trip, all they needed was a destination and maybe a bit of gas. Maria looked to her side at the old sofa, her head shaking immediately, grinning at the question. "That's what I thought too, but no, not there." She shot down, amused by the seriousness of Frank's. "It is a pullout sofa if you wanted to sleep right there in front of the tv, but I'll show you where we're sleeping." Maria's voice went up an octave as her excitement seemed to flow throughout her. She graced from the general area, pass the small kitchenette, and bathroom in the narrow hallway until she was facing the single wooden door. She slid it open, revealing the more updated part of the van her uncle was talking about. The sunlight from the windows spilled into the spacious room and puddled over the walls while the bed was front and center for them. There was a small closet with a mirror that hung over it, and a washer and dryer tucked away in another pair of sliding doors next to it. It was far from the updated Marias had in mind, but it still felt homey to her. "Do you like it? I mean, I know it isn't as grand as those other RV's you see but it's a piece of the family. My uncle doesn't really have the heart to do much of anything with it since his son passed. He was one loved to use it." She explained, her smile a bit more tight but her oaked eyes still bright. It would explain the older furnishings, her uncle couldn't touch what was left of his son and Maria had no intention to either.
@maria r。ᵐᵃʳᶦᵍᵒˡᵈ Frank casually followed Maria into the van, full of wonder. It would be an utter lie if he said that he had never dreamt of having one of these beasts himself. There had been a time when all he wanted was a studio on wheels which would make it easy to travel from gig to gig. Sadly, his career of a musician crumbled before it could have even properly started. Climbing into the van, he was mesmerized. Not only by the blast from the past interior but also the possibilities that awaited him and his fiancé. For whatever reason, the van reminded him of himself. Even if Maria would possibly prefer some upgrading and modernisation of the interior, Frank couldn't help but appreciate it as it was. It was his style, simple yet unpretentious. "If your uncle ever decides to sell it, I'll gladly sell my soul for it," he muttered as he looked around, taking another cautious step inside. "We'll be sleeping on here?" He asked, glancing from the sofa to Maria, his merely fascinated expression instantly morphing into something more intense. Just one look, one realisation of their relationship advances, all stemming from the simple fact that it was her, Maria, his fiancé, who he was travelling with, a very significant concern in Frank's mind. "I presume it will be enough for the little sleep we'll be getting," he mumbled under his breath, almost unable to take his eyes off of the stunning beauty in front of him. He was, frankly, thankful that they've decided to initially go on the trip by themselves, without Maria's siblings, because as time passed, Frank slowly realised that the time they can spend together, alone, in complete seclusion, would propose some suppressed feelings he's been keeping in ever since their engagement. He needed some quality time together with Maria. Some uninterrupted time of just them with not a single worry in the world.
@frank d。ᵒᵘᵗᵒᶠˢᵖᵃᶜᵉ Maria lazily shook her head, her smile closed yet wide as she drank in the sight of her fiancé with her gleaming brown hues, a slow and content breath leaving her as she was wrapped in his strong arms. The teasing of his was looked over but silently acknowledged, all she wanted was for time to stop and to be in the moment for an eternity. "Listen, I'm the one who can drive here, you might be walking back home if you keep it up." Maria joked back, her voice more soothing than its usual boisterous air. Maria hummed at the kiss, welcoming the weak trail of warmth that ran up her spine and over her arms, it always happened with Frank's kisses, it was almost like she was being wrapped in the warmth of his deepened soul. "I wanna hear what indie is to you, you might not know a lot of the songs I suggest." Maria laughed airily as she shook her head at him, the outer corners of her eyes happily crinkling upwards as she gazed at him. The raise of his brow made Maria almost roll her eyes at him, the urge strong enough for her lips to part and soft and drawn out "ugh" to leave them. "/Please/ serenade me while we're roasting marshmallows, it's all I've been waiting for, really." The magic word punctuated as she drew her face closer to Frank and pressed a chaste kiss on the corner of his lips before she backed away from his grasp. She fished the keys out of the pocket of her denim shorts and pointed the fob at the van, the sounds of the door unlocked and the lights flashing on. "Come in!" She quickly said before she ran to the side of the van and tugged open the narrow doorway, excitement etched over her rounded features as she looked back to Frank, pleading for him to come in as she stepped up the stairs. "It's clean, but I wonder if he'll ever upgrade it." The inside was a blast to the past—but clean. The way the sunlight settled over the the carpet, the floral sofa and the two chairs in the front, it made Maria feel a bit more at home.
@maria r。ᵐᵃʳᶦᵍᵒˡᵈ "You've never had parking privileges?" Frank snorted, looking at Maria as if she has just fallen from the sky. "Have you never had a car? Or you wrecked the garages by reversing into them? Which is it?" He asked in mock urgency, the humour tugging at the corners of his lips into a little smirk. An arm wound up around Maria's shoulders, hugging her close to his side in a manner of comfort as if to show that no matter which option would it be, he would still love her the same. "I will leave the repertoire of the campfire songs to you, love. I'd probably just go down the usual indie cliché songs," he chuckled, looking down fondly at his fiance as he wrapped both of his arms around her once she moved to hug him from the front. "I can't wait to hit the road. But I can hardly wait to spend some alone time with you," he mumbled before planting a sweet kiss on her lips. "And I'll sing you a serenade if you ask nicely," he raised an eyebrow before cracking a smile, and gave her one last peck on the forehead.
Maria looked at the old camper, her brown eyes glowing in admiration and a bit of pride. Her uncle's van was obviously an older model from the 90's, but it showed no signs of age on its metal, the van practically gleamed as if it was brand new in the hovering sunlight. Maria turned to the sound of Frank's approaching steps, her otherworldly senses immediately knowing the sound of his rather relaxed yet quiet gait. "I know, she's a beauty." Maria mused as she half closed her eyes upon receiving the kiss from her fiancé. She returned the token of affection with a chaste peck to his cheek before turning back to the large van. "Oh, parking privileges. Let's say I never had them and the property assistant likes me enough to keep the car here." Maria explained. She looked down at the guitar and her smile rose even more, she never heard him sung before—besides their "recording" session, but Maria never thought she would get to hear him again. "What campfire songs are we singing tonight?" Maria questioned, mirroring his infamous smirk as she looked at him from under the wispy curl of her lashes; her arms draping over Frank's hips and the plush her thighs pressing themselves against the front of his legs.
@maria r。ᵐᵃʳᶦᵍᵒˡᵈ At this time, even with the engagement and moving, Frank still had a lot of possessions residing at his family house. After all, his parents were still a bit clueless about his relations. That talk would be a different, difficult one. Therefore, he had to pick up a few things before the roadtrip there, things like his guitar and a few undergarments. With a backpack that harboured the necessities and the beers from a previous shopping errand, and guitar case, he rounded the corner to meet Maria, his fiance, by the garages. The simple fact of some fun time together brought a smile to his face. "Hey," he greeted, no one in particular, because his eyes shifted from Maria to the vehicle, and it could almost seem like he was talking to it. "What a beast," he chuckled before giving her a long, greeting kiss on the cheek. "So, how are your parking privileges? Because if they were revoked, we should leave as soon as possible," he pointed out with a smirk, leaning his guitar against the car. "
@frank d。ᵒᵘᵗᵒᶠˢᵖᵃᶜᵉ The joke went unheard to Maria's ears as she stood there frozen in place in front of a kneeling Frank; her jaw went slack behind her slightly trembling hand, and the realization that Frank was proposing to her at this moment sent a wave of shock over her. In no way did she think Frank would propose to her anytime soon. Even with all the jokes they cracked back and forth about being eachother's future partners. Deep down she secretly wanted it all this time, but she never knew if it would become her reality. As Frank started his speech, Maria hung on to every word he spoke, she thought she was already head over heels for her boyfriend, but she had fallen even more for him than ever. "Frank." She called quietly, her voice broken and and soft as a lump in started to form and her eyes started to rapidly blink as tears pricked from her ducts. Maria was sure he couldn't hear her as he continued on with his speech, but she wanted shout from the top of her lungs "Yes, I'll marry you god damnit!", then clobber him to the ground and kiss him until her lipstick made permanent marks on his lips and cheeks. Truly at this moment did Maria feel like she had been spun into a new rapture she thought she could never reach. Her jaw had closed as she tried to swallow but she was almost near weeping by the end of her boyfriend's speech, she looked at him through blurry eyes and she nodded, unable to speak at that moment. "Yes, I will marry you, love. I'll marry you a thousand times to call you mine." Maria said in between sniffles as she slightly bent her knees to lean down towards Frank; her fingers cupping under her lover's jaws and chin as she kept his head held up to press a long kiss to his temple.
@maria r。ᵐᵃʳᶦᵍᵒˡᵈ "The world's smallest boot of a car, obviously," Frank joked, trying his best not to ruin the moment his witty remarks. On one knee, with the black velvet box held up high, he watched for a split second how taken aback Maria looked. It was the moment when he realised just how absolutely perfect this could go as well as how woefully south it could go. He'd get a heart attack if his mouth didn't work its magic for the first time in his entire life. So much so that his whole system forgot how to stutter. "Maria. Love. I know that this," he looked around the balcony, "isn't the most romantic scenery. Neither do I have a speech prepared. So whatever I spill right now, will not have any editorial intervention. Bear with me," he added, shifting on his knee for a more comfortable position, clearing his throat promptly. "I loved you for so long. I loved you as a friend, as a best friend, as a soulmate and then as my lover, my girlfriend. And frankly, I can't wait to love you as my life partner, wife, mother of my children and whatever life holds for us in between. I've been carrying this around for some time now, unable to find the perfect moment. I find Christmas engagements cheesy, and if I told you I was ready to ask you to marry me right at cousin's wedding you'd probably toss me under the double decker. I chose New Year's because I couldn't wait any longer. This was it. However, when I read your note by the gifts... Man, calling me the future father of your children just set everything in stone. I'm either bloody old or I finally understand the correlation with the 'daddy' phenomenon," he chuckled, softly shaking his head. The fact that his hand trembled a bit from stress was redundant. "I don't know how I got this ing lucky, but if anything, you made me this lucky. Days spent with you from the first moment we talked were the craziest, most remarkable, happiest moments of my life. And you know I've been through some wild stuff. But with you, even the most unfortunate situations seemed to have a glow of worthiness. Everything done with you was and is worth it. You made me a better person, for better or worse," he made a slight grimace just to show that he was, of course, joking, "but I will never regret making that change. I will never regret any of my decisions, good or bad, that had led me to this point. To the point where I'm here with you, on New Year's Eve, down on my /knee/, asking you: Maria, will you be so kind and marry me already?" Frank asked, popped the little velvet box open, revealing a diamond engagement ring as silent, most joyous tears welled up behind his eyes. He couldn't believe he said it out loud, his nasty attitude never leaving him. Scarcely did he cry, but... this might just be the moment when he would do so, uncontrollably.
@frank d。ᵒᵘᵗᵒᶠˢᵖᵃᶜᵉ The comment made Maria chuckle, when it came to knitting she was a bit terrible, but everything ended up turning out well, so did finding the perfect gem for the ring she gifted him. "I thought you would like it, something about you reminds me about the deep atlantic." Everything about the gem seemed as deep as Frank and so did the style of it, she knew he would gravitate greatly to it. The next comment made her slightly unruly brows pinch together and turn her body from the balcony and sideways to face him. "What do you mean together?" Maria asked until she spotted the small velvet box. Her smile had faded, not out of disappointed but out of surprising wonder that made her freeze and in a breath her body decided to hold. "What is that?" Maria was able to crack through the lack of breath she had as she looked Frank, her eyes slightly widened and her hand quickly putting down the glass on the railing so she wouldn't have dropped it or spilled the wine out of shock.
@maria r。ᵐᵃʳᶦᵍᵒˡᵈ "Credits all yours," Frank responded to Maria's compliments with a little cheeky smirk, following her out onto the balcony. "The ring? Not yet. I wanted you to see me put it on. But it looks absolutely sick,' Frank chuckled with an impressed expression, not really holding back just how mesmerized he was by the jewelry. It was right up his alley. "Maybe, we could try them on together?" He suggested as if that was a brand new idea. He set the glass down on the railing, reaching into his pocket to fish out the present from Maria and also a small, black, velvet box. Of course, he also checked his wrist watch in the process. He didn't want to miss the right moment.
@frank d。ᵒᵘᵗᵒᶠˢᵖᵃᶜᵉ Maria's cedar-sighted eyes happily lit up as she saw Frank dressed up in the sweater she knitted for him, she didn't think she would have the chance to see it on him this quick. But seeing the glasses in his hand made her smile even wider and her eyes crease with adoration. "Yes, I would love to." Maria said nodding her head as she took one of the glasses from her boyfriend, gushing over how handsome he looked. "And you look nice." She complimented him, satisfied with how well the sweater fit him. She was dressed in her own oversized olive green sweater that was thrown over the satin colored slip dress she usually wore around the apartment. Maria stepped outside to the balcony overlooking the town with the glass in her hand. "Did you put the ring on yet?" She asked quizzically, looking back over her shoulder as leaned over the cold railing.
@maria r。ᵐᵃʳᶦᵍᵒˡᵈ Frank, dressed in his new sweater, waited patiently for midnight to draw close. As nerve-racking as the day was, he knew this was the time and moment he wanted to surprise Maria one last time in this year. Next year would bring something new. Possibly. With few drinks down, few games and films later, Frank started setting up the champagne flutes, ready for the countdown. Although, he had something specific in mind. "Would you like to go outside and see the fireworks while we have a toast?" He asked as he slowly approached his girlfriend with two glasses full of sparkling wine that glittered in the atmospheric light of Maria's flat.
