@jennie k。ʲᵃⁿᵉ the weight of what he'd just done came crashing in on taehyun like a million bricks. he frantically looked between the hysterical woman and the solid stone statue before slowly lowering himself to the ground, not caring that the gravel dug into his bare knees and calves. didn't she need help? wasn't this man going to hurt her? he already had drawn blood...who knows what else he was capable of doing? "i..." taehyun truly didn't know how to answer the woman's question. he'd acted out of impulse and used the powers he swore he'd never use again. so what about this situation made him act without thinking? "i-i don't know what happened. i was walking home and heard you two arguing... he was hurting you, and i thought he might k-kill you... so i stepped in to try and help, and well..." he trailed off as his gaze once again shifted over to the statue. "there's nothing i can do to turn him back. i'm so sorry." taehyun mumbled, hands coming up to rub over his face. "he must've meant a lot to you, and i took that all away. i...i didn't even think- i'm sorry. i know i can't make it up to you, but is there someone i can call? someone who can come and make sure you're alright? i would offer to you home, but i'm probably the last person you'd want to be around at this point."
@taehyun k。ᵗᵉʳʳʸ Jennie cried at the pressure of his blackened claws digging into her skull, she could even hear the ripping of her hair as he held her tighter, the heavy pounding of her brain urgently rang in her ears and the tense prickling feeling of pain attacked her nerves, leaving her head stinging. Scarlet started to make it's way from the wound, pooling around the hairline by her temple and making a slow stream that oozed down the side of her left cheek. With her back against the back wall, she slumped to the ground, her vision blurring in and out as she watched the random man throw her ex-fiancé off of her. Although winded, Jennie still couldn't hide her surprise as she watched the fatality of the stranger's powers, she quickly scrambled over to what was once a warm body, as if she wasn't infuriated, as if she wasn't tearing her vocal chords, as if she wasn't begging the wrong person to love her. "What happened? What did you do?" Jennie couldn't believe it, he was solid. 'He's gone' was all she could think as the soft pads of her slender hands felt the hand of statue reaching out to stop the stranger from turning him to stone. Her manicured nails scratched at the stone, watching the miniscule pebbles of rock fall in her hands. "C-can you turn him back?" Jennie's question turned more into a plead, her voice a wallowing whine as she sat on her knees teary eyed as she looked back the man, emotions of distraught and confusion painting her soft features along with the blood drying up and crowing her face. "Please?" She asked, any questions he had for her totally ignored as she tended to her fallen ex. Jennie would be ruined if he couldn't get back up and walk to his family, even if it wasn't her but the fox spirit and their child born out of wedlock. She couldn't take the fall if she was the cause of his death, the one person she truly loved.
@jennie k。ʲᵃⁿᵉ taehyun absentmindedly kicked at a rock on the sidewalk as he shuffled past the old library. he had half a mind to stop inside and peruse the novels, but he'd forgotten his contacts back at home and didn't want to risk turning a sweet elderly librarian or an innocent booklover into a statue. his 'gift' used to be viewed as a blessing. leaders and rulers alike chased down the basilisk, offering gold and riches and anything he so desired, as long as he assisted their army in winning a war. or claiming more land. or disposing of an enemy. despite having so much to gain right at his fingertips, taehyun refused to accept a single cent. eventually, the repetition of jobs grew tedious, and the basilisk hid himself away, not wanting to be called upon for another dastardly deed. it took a toll on him, and he lost the passion...the enjoyment of performing for others. just as he was making his way closer and closer to his home, he caught wind of two angry voices down one of the alleyways and decided to check to see what was going on. taehyun kept out of sight, only poking his head around the corner just enough to be able to see the two arguing figures under the illuminating streetlight. 'what is this about?' the serpent thought to himself, brows furrowing at how angry the pair seemed to be at each other. were they a couple? friends, perhaps? whatever it was, taehyun felt an overwhelming hostile vibe coming from the alleyway, and he questioned whether or not he should even be overhearing this quarrel. but, just then, the man made a mad dash toward the woman, causing taehyun's eyes to go wide behind his glasses. 'oh my god, he's going to hurt her!' on one hand, he didn't know what this nameless man was capable of, and on the other, he couldn't idly stand by and watch the woman suffer such a cruel fate. without thinking, taehyun emerged from the dark and headed straight for the man, knocking into him hard enough that he released the woman's hair from his grasp. "what the hell?" he heard the other male gasp out as he fell to the ground, taehyun now towering over him. "i should be asking you the same thing," the basilisk replied wasting no time with removing the glasses from his nose and peering right now at the helpless whelp. within seconds, nothing but a rock remained, in the shape of the man. before the panic began to set in, taehyun returned his glasses and turned to the woman. "are you all right? i am...sorry about your boyfriend."
@taehyun k。ᵗᵉʳʳʸ Why didn't you come back?" again, the human asked desperately. "Please, tell me!" She shrilled at him within the next breath, her loud scream echoing off the brick walls of the alleyway secluding the two from the rest of the world. Rage and sadness was forcing themselves back to her in rushing waves, running up and down from her pounding head and to her small balled up fists that were shaking at her sides. It took her everything to not try to manhandle her ex-fiance standing in front of her. He refused to look at her, but Jennie knew the look of shame when she saw it, and he was washed in it. Jennie scoffed in disbelief at the other. "So you went off with her, huh?" She asked suddenly. "Don't—" Her fiance finally spoke up. "Don't what? Don't mention the woman you were in love with this whole time? Did you run off with her?" She wasn't expecting any answers to her angrily thrown questions, she was right. The whole time Jennie was with him she tried to push back the thought the other woman was supposed to be in her shoes instead. She was sure he loved her at one point, but the suspicious in the middle of the night walks to another apartment, hushed phone conversations, and being told he was seen with the same girl multiple times crushed her. Through it all Jennie still loved him enough to follow through with marrying him, but now he was standing right before her after leaving her on their wedding night. "Did you think you could knock her up and then come back to me after making that mistake? You really know how to pick them, do you?' Her ex-lover lifted his head, anger settled deeply on his strong features. His thick brows pinching together to the point a line cut his skin, his lips tucked, and his sharp jaw clenched. "She always abandons you when she finds something else to do—whatever that is, you're always in her corner, and not once were you in mine. You know she doesn't give a about you yet you—" Jennie's own scream cut her vexed rant short as her ex flew towards her, breathing harshly through his clenched as he grabbed her by the roots of her hair, pushing her back against the wall of the side of the building, winding her of any breath she had left. "I've been through hell with you." Her ex's gruff voice dropped an octave, he sounded warped as he snarled at her, and he started to look wicked as well. His nails pressed against her scalp started to grow sharp, making her cry out and squirm against his hold. "Please!" Jennie begged as she tried to tussle away from his hold, her knees bending to get away from the hands trying to crush her skull.
