@✾ ⋰ yeeun j. The washers sloshed and the dryers tumbled with their rhythms out of sync. Hyunsuk pulled open the door to the laundry room with his hands still gripping onto his hamper as a wave of laundry detergent met his nostrils alongside the comforting heat of the dryers. He stacked his hamper on top of a washer and began to load his laundry as he noticed the only other person in this noisy little room, her eyes glazed over as she stared at the blank wall. He wasn't sure if she'd even noticed him entering the room at all.
To Hyunsuk, she was a senior who'd been at Venus Lounge for years before he was hired and since then, he'd met a lot of different pearls. Some came to work here for money, while others did it for the liberation, and some simply had no other choice. For the young lady in the room with him, he never got the chance to hear her story, but from the listless expression that was always on her face, he could guess.
He'd begun his laundry cycle and put his hamper away against the wall when the loud buzz of a finished wash cycle vibrated against the small white walls of the room. He looked around to see if there was anybody else in the room, looked to see if there were any other occupied washers besides his own - but it was just his and the one that finished its cycle, the bottom row of the front loading dryers tumbling loudly over the single washer going.
"Sunbae," Hyunsuk called out to the only other person in the room, waving his hand over at her as he approached her, repeating himself, "Sunbae, your clothes are finished washing."
@✾ ⋰ hyunsuk y. There wasn’t really all that much to do at work. Considering she lived within the confines of Venus Lounge, Yeeun led a boring life. Client this, client that, performance there, drug dealing there. And whatever else her seniors and higher-ups assigned for her that week. A lot of her free time was chores, whether for other Pearls or just for herself. Today was laundry.
A small room that wasn’t glamorous in the slightest; Yeeun found her quiet place inside as she waited for her laundry to finish. The monotony of everyday chores reminded Yeeun of what it was like to have a monotonous life. Much like every other time she wasn’t in front of clients, Yeeun spent her time in her own head. It was a rare day indeed when Yeeun actually indulged in one of her hobbies she had before she came here, though she wasn’t sure if any of the Pearls had hobbies outside of what they did for work.
Honestly, Yeeun could fall asleep like this, staring blankly at the wall before her. Maybe she was sleeping, in a way, and that white wall was just the image behind her eyelids. It took years of practice inside Venus Lounge to achieve that sort of tranquillity. It was almost… Zombie-like. Yeeun didn’t mind that.
