- we will be giving EXTENSIONS up to 8 HOURS after the original deadline (11:59 JUNE 30 GMT+9) just to give people one last chance since life is busy and heavy on us all. the extended deadline to post is now JULY 1 2024 8AM in korean standard time (gmt+9)! your extension will be valid if you message before the current deadline given for the activity check.
- we will be removing characters a day after the ORIGINAL deadline. if you miss this announcement about the 8-hour extension but still want to stay, you may message the admins to get an extension BEFORE july 1 8am kst and post before that time! we will still keep your character. no extensions past that time.

Hello citizens!

As you all know, our beloved small town has been promoted to a city IC, as mentioned in the recent announcement. With today being the last day of the official revamp period, we have a few announcements to make and some important updates! All changes to the roleplay have been listed below.

– Main layout’s colours have been changed.
– Pages under < information > have been updated, mostly the city’s ABOUT page and the FAQ page.
– New rooms under the SERVICES group. These include the hotel, fitness club, sports complex, etc.
– Majority of the rooms have updated descriptions, including possible jobs for new characters or current ones that need an occupation change!
– APARTMENTS are now available and free to claim.
– SEASIDE RENTALS are visible but currently under construction (the rooms themselves).
– The town hall and town square groups have been changed to CITY HALL and CITY SQUARE.
– We have consolidated the character requests, hiatus requests, and room requests into one big REQUESTS room, under < basics > for the ease of the roleplayers. Make sure to read the requirements for all the requests!
– With our ever-changing city, we have decided to remove the TOWN MAP.
– We also removed the TOWN DIRECTORY but kept the CITY ALBUM.

Above listed are all the room changes, as for other things to note, non-Korean faceclaims are now allowed to be in Gohyang! Currently the overall limit is 10 (for new / returning and current roleplayers) but we will adjust and update everyone if there are changes at the discretion of the admin team.

We are also still looking for a new co-admin, so if anyone is interested or knows someone who is happy to co-admin (and fulfills the other requirements posted on our recent blog), let us know!

Finally, all roleplayers have an extension until APRIL 7, 2024, SUNDAY KST (GMT+9) at 12:00 AM to remove the inactivity symbol from their characters, either through a reply or through a chronicle. If you have ZERO posts (aka no inactivity symbol as a marker), please post before the deadline. You have until then to CLAIM any existing but DEACTIVATED CHARACTERS, as long as you remove the inactivity symbol from them by the deadline.

All other deactivated characters of past (or returning) roleplayers have been deleted.

it has been a little over 3 weeks and we have done our first activity check and have messaged the characters that have gone inactive. in line with this, we have removed the chance to gain activity points from rooms that are non-destination rooms or the cat chronicles room. it will make things easier for us in terms of activity monitoring. this is because we would like everyone to be as active as they possibly can with actual threads instead of social media interactions with a shorter word count. with our recent rule addition of a thread being 250+ words or ~200 words for threads with more than 6 posts, we believe that activity would best be monitored if the social media rooms no longer allow activity points. please note that moving forward, your activity will only be based on threads in the destination rooms.

the admin team has decided to clarify what qualifies as a thread, to clear up any confusion on the requirements for gaining new characters. a thread should have a minimum of 250 in one reply, and ~200 words for the posts are acceptable if the thread has reached 6+ posts between the muns writing. while the texting and sns rooms do give activity points, they are not counted as threads and hence cannot be used to gain new characters. with the first round of activity check coming up soon, please start plotting and writing your threads sooner than later.

finally, we suggest you keep track of your actual threads somehow and share the location when asking for a new character.

with the winter festival starting, we are running an interest check of two potential mini-events to celebrate the holidays. please pm big boss, gohyangmon, if you are interested in either or both events.

mini-event one ) an annual snow sculpture event that is hosted at geum bae vineyard! a padlet will be open for participants to submit their snow sculptures anonymously. teams can be set up by players rolling dice to select their team members. from there, they can write threads of building their icy masterpieces if they’d like in the winter-themed geum bae vineyard room.

mini-event two ) decorating the giant christmas tree at the plaza! the town council will be passing out decorations to volunteers. snacks and hot drinks will be provided to keep bellies warm and the morale up.

recent amendments to the rules (found in the description and the rules page) have been made so please consider them for potential future characters.

one ) until further notice, there will be a cap on non-korean faceclaims to maintain the realism of the realism of gohyang’s setting, a small provincial town in south korea. the non-korean faceclaims that have been already reserved or accepted are excluded from this cap.

two ) there will be a cap on rich/wealthy backgrounds. until further notice, we encourage your character to have a middle-class (upper-class at best) or lower-class background to remain realistic to the small-town setting and balance out the different classes of society.

if you wish to do so, you may change your current character’s background to reflect the amendments. we encourage it but it will not be enforced.

we kindly remind you of a few things to make your time in gohyang-myeon memorable:

one ) please take a look at the existing rooms to see if any are a good fit for your character’s occupation and background. the npc owners are simply placeholders until you decide to claim the room.

two ) there are homes ready to be claimed. please check out the directory under the residential tab to see how to claim one!

three ) we opened up an occupation room under the information tab for you to state your occupation. please post there with your current job/position!

four ) considering the setting of gohyang, please choose occupations that are more common in a small town versus an occupation inspired by city life.

five ) as much as we love the city-dwellers making their mark in our small town, we would love to see more gohyang natives who decided to stay here.
